Brad Pitt Hits NOLA With Ellen and Portia Ahead of His Star-Studded Charity Gala

Brad Pitt's Make It Right was the focus of attention during an afternoon in New Orleans yesterday. He checked in on some of the organization's architecture projects in the city's Lower Ninth Ward along with pal Elle DeGeneres. Later in the evening, Brad and Ellen met up with her wife, Portia de Rossi, for dinner at Tonique Bar. It was just announced that Brad will host a charity gala to benefit Make It Right. He and Ellen are cohosting the event at NOLA's Hyatt Regency tonight, and celeb guests like Sheryl Crow, Snoop Dogg, Sean Penn, and Blake Lively are expected. Rihanna and Kanye West are slated to perform. There is even an afterparty planned, with Aziz Ansari emceeing performances from Seal and Lil Wayne.

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi were spotted holding hands as they left design store Jean de Merry in LA yesterday. The couple picked up a portfolio from the shop and headed back to their car with matching smiles. They may be working on furnishing a new home since Ellen and Portia put their Beverly Hills pad on the market for $49 million back in May. Ellen and Portia seem to be enjoying a low-key Summer since Ellen's on a break from The Ellen DeGeneres Show, but Portia did take time to pose for VegNews and chat about her eating choices. Aside from her exciting cover, the duo will have something else to celebrate soon, since Ellen and Portia's third wedding anniversary is coming up on Aug. 16.

Queen Latifah, fresh off hosting the show, attended the event with a brightly dressed Drew Barrymore, Taylor Swift, Ellen DeGeneres, and Niki Taylor. Ellen and Taylor seemed to be in especially great moods as they laughed their way past the photographers with Portia de Rossi. Taylor had lots to celebrate despite recently splitting from Jake Gyllenhaal - she ranked among the best dressed of the night and took home the favorite country artist honor. Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi flashed matching smiles yesterday while out for a walk in St. Barts. The duo are off enjoying a fun vacation to celebrate wrapping up another successful year. It's been a busy one for Ellen with her daytime TV show, and she also kept fans laughing with her tweets - Ellen ranked among your favorite people to follow on Twitter. Portia, meanwhile, had a whirlwind press tour to promote her new book about her struggles with an eating disorder. She and Ellen are among the cutest couples of 2010, and they cemented their place on the list by bringing their PDA out on a boat to wrap up their afternoon of sightseeing with a cruise.

Portia de Rossi has been making the rounds this week opening up about the unbearable lightness of being anorexic and bulimic. In her new book and in the interviews promoting it, the openly gay actress has offered a very honest, and very dark portrayal of life with an eating disorder. Portia tells People about her state of mind when she weighed only 82 pounds:

"At the time, I thought, 'Okay, my arms look awful so I should cover them up, but my legs look pretty okay now.' I didn't think I was crazy to only eat 300 calories a day. That made perfect sense to me."

Portia, who suffered organ failure and osteoporosis, started battling her eating disorder while working on Ally McBeal, and she points to the pressure from that show, along with her then-closeted sexuality, as the reason behind her struggle. Very thin women on TV can influence a regular woman's body image, and Portia's honesty about the unhealthy and painful side of extreme thinness does make it seem anything but glamorous.
