Rachel Weisz Latest Star to Get Banned by the ASA

What do Julia Roberts, Christy Turlington, and Twiggy have in common? They've all been the subjects of the UK's tougher-than-nails Advertising Standards Authority. And now, Rachel Weisz is a member of the exclusive group, as earlier today the ASA banned an ad featuring the star because it "misleadingly exaggerated the performance of the product [L'Oréal's Revitalift Repair 10]."

According to the regulatory agency, the magazine advertisement had "been altered in a way that substantially changed her complexion to make it appear smoother and more even." Not surprisingly, L'Oréal was disappointed with the ruling.

While the beauty brand admits to shooting Rachel with soft focus, low resolution, and plenty of lighting, it still stands behind its ad. "We believe that the image in the advertisement is a true representation of Rachel Weisz," a representative said in a statement. "The product claims are based on extensive scientific research which proved that the product improves 10 different signs of skin aging." It's a slap on the wrist for L'Oréal, but do you think the postproduction was taken too far?

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo star Daniel Craig made his first red carpet appearance with wife Rachel Weisz this evening at his Madrid premiere! He and Rachel have tried to stay out of the limelight since marrying in upstate New York over the Summer. It seems they may be changing their approach to publicity, since they were arm in arm while walking past photographers!

Joining the happy couple for the event was Daniel's costar Rooney Mara. Rooney's press tour wardrobe has featured lots of black, edgy dresses, but today's look was a big change. Rooney wore a tan, silk gown that was almost demure! Director David Fincher turned out too, having also been in France yesterday with Rooney and Daniel.

She had The Whistleblower and The Deep Blue Sea hit theaters, while Daniel, of course, sizzled on the screen as Mikael Blomkvist in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. He's been busy lately recording the latest Bond film, which has the working title of Skyfall. Daniel also found a moment to pose for the hot new Vanity Fair cover with Clooney and Damon.

Happy couple Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig held hands yesterday while out for a walk in NYC. They're hanging out in the Big Apple a couple weeks after the rather disappointing opening of their Dream House. The Dream House reviews weren't entirely favorable, and the project won't end up as the top-grossing film in either of their careers. Dream House was important, though, since Rachel and Daniel fell in love on that set. Daniel has lots more to look forward to with production on the 23rd Bond film starting soon. Javier Bardem will play the Bond villain in the picture, tentatively called Skyfall. Daniel also has the first of the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo movies hitting theaters around Christmas. It's not a slow period for Rachel either, as she has both 360 and The Deep Blue Sea screening at the London Film Festival.

Movie affairs have a way of seeming so romantic and dramatic, even if something explosive is under the surface. Such is the case for the Rachel Weisz drama The Deep Blue Sea, an adaptation of the stage play. Set in 1950s Britain, Weisz plays Hester, a married woman who takes up with Freddie, a Royal Air Force pilot, played by Thor's Tom Hiddleston (looking much more dapper here than he does as Loki, I must say).

When their dalliance hits some snags, Hester becomes suicidal. We see only a little of this play out in the trailer, as Hester and Freddie kiss, but then yell desperately at one another. Still, it's a beautiful, swoon-worthy trailer, set to soaring violins that make the romance seem all the more theatrical. Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig touched down at Newark's airport last night with her 5-year-old son, Henry Aronofsky. It's been nearly two months since Daniel became Henry's stepdad - Daniel and Rachel married in an intimate ceremony in Upstate New York on June 22. They've filled the intervening weeks with lots of work focused around their latest movies. Daniel made a worldwide press tour on behalf of Cowboys and Aliens and just wrapped up a week in Europe at premieres in London and Berlin. Rachel, meanwhile, had The Whistleblower come out, and Daniel, with his daughter Ella, supported her at the NYC screening in July. That much-anticipated project will be out in the US around Christmas, but first up for Daniel and Rachel will be showing off their Dream House before its release on Sept. 30.

Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig snuck out of the James Hotel, where the afterparty for The Whistleblower's premiere was held, last night in NYC. The couple were accompanied by his daughter, Ella. The gang was fresh off the screening at the Tribeca Grand, which came after a long day of press for Rachel including a Q&A session at the School of Visual Arts Theatre and a stop at The Daily Show. Rachel was decked out in a red dress with bow sleeves for the busy evening. Speaking about her role, Rachel said of The Whistleblower, "[The script] haunted me. I couldn't get it out of my mind. It's my favorite genre of film, the thriller which is about the ordinary woman who does an extraordinary thing and kind of David and Goliath style goes after a big corporation or a big organization. One lone woman against a huge corporation. Makes for a very thrilling, edge-of-your-seat thriller." Her movie isn't out until next Friday, but Daniel has a movie opening tomorrow with Cowboys & Aliens.
