The Grammy Awards took place in LA last night! The action started right away on the star-studded Grammys red carpet, where outlandish fashions were donned by some of music's biggest names like Fergie, Nicki Minaj, and Rihanna. The fun continued during the show, thanks to host LL Cool J. In addition to paying homage to the late Whitney Houston, there were lighter moments thanks to performances from Rihanna and Coldplay, Katy Perry, Paul McCartney, and even the Beach Boys. The night, though, belonged to Adele with six wins for her song "Someone Like You" and her album 21. The Foo Fighters were a close second with five new statues. While the carpet may have been a somber one, stars came out to celebrate the 54th Grammy Awards with stunning gowns. Cutout and low-back dresses trended throughout the night, with Taylor Swift, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Rihanna all wearing gowns with a little skin showing. Adele's Sweep, a Prayer For Whitney Houston, and More 2012 Grammys Highlights

The 2012 Grammy Awards were all about Adele's major wins and the sad passing of Whitney Houston. After a kickoff from Bruce Springsteen, host LL Cool J led a prayer for Whitney and gave a look back at some of her stellar Grammys performances. Alicia Keys and Bonnie Raitt honored another late musical star, Etta James, with a song. Bonnie and Alicia also presented best pop solo performance to Adele for "Someone Like You." Adele, who suffered from vocal problems for the last year, appropriately thanked her doctors. Further accolades went to Jay-Z and Kanye West, both absent, for best rap song with "Otis," and Dave Grohl's Foo Fighters picked up best rock performance for "Walk." Bon Iver took home best new artist.

Rihanna and Coldplay teamed up for one of the evening's most memorable duets. Her "We Found Love" segued into Coldplay's "Princess of China" and "Paradise." Another highlight was the long-awaited reunion of the Beach Boys, and they brought back their hit "Good Vibrations" with some help from Adam Levine. Taylor Swift won two honors before the proceedings even began, and later went folksy with her stint behind the mic. Katy Perry, taking a different approach, donned a skintight bodysuit for "Part of Me." Katy changed the words to the track, apparently making a dig at her ex Russell Brand.

Adele was back onstage later in the night with her adorable producer, Paul Epworth, to accept song of the year for "Someone Like You." She made her triumphant return to the microphone with her hit, after a glowing introduction from Gwyneth Paltrow, and received a standing ovation from her big fans like Paul McCartney and Rihanna. The track was also crowned record of the year and her 21 was album of the year! A teary Adele raised her new gold, joked about having a snotty nose, and said to her mother, "Mom, girl did good!"

Jennifer Hudson helped wrap things up with a touching Whitney Houston tribute, belting out "I Will Always Love You." The show was officially closed by Paul McCartney with help from his "friends" like Dave Grohl, Joe Walsh, and Bruce Springsteen. Carrie, Rihanna, Katy, Fergie, and More Get Sexy on the Grammys Red Carpet

Music's leading ladies and more famous faces brought their best looks to the Grammys red carpet in LA tonight. Julianne Hough posed in a strapless Kaufman Franco gown while Alicia Keys chose a simple black dress and arrived on the arm of husband Swizz Beatz. Adele, who is nominated for six awards, wore a custom Giorgio Armani gown. She's taking the stage at this evening's show to perform for the first time since undergoing surgery to repair damaged vocal cords late last year. Fellow performer, Rihanna, brought the sexiness in a backless Armani number, which she helped design.

Neutrals were a big trend on the carpet with Kate Beckinsale stepping out in a cream Zuhair Murad mini and country star Miranda Lambert in a similarly hued lace Pivoni gown. Miranda joined her husband, Blake Shelton, on the carpet. Kelly Osbourne sparkled in Tony Ward with her light purple hair. Best country song and best country solo performance winner Taylor Swift rocked a high-neck Zuhair Murad as she awaits the news on her third nomination.

Nominee Carrie Underwood kept the sparkle coming in a long sleeve white gown by Gomez-Gracia. She'll hit the stage for a duet with Tony Bennett at tonight's show. Katy Perry, who is nominated for two Grammys, switched up her usually edgy appearance with a subtle blue Elie Saab that matched her bright hair, while Fergie showed skin in a hot orange lace Jean Paul Gaultier that revealed her black undergarments. Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott brought a touch of color with her purple Monique Lhuillier gown.

Rihanna and Coldplay Rock Out With an Amazing, Sexy Grammy Performance!

Rihanna and Coldplay totally knocked their Grammy performance out of the park when it came on about one third of the way through the big show this evening in LA. Rihanna kicked things off with a solo rendition of "We Found Love," which she accompanied with her signature super sexy dance moves. She then teamed up with Coldplay for a medley of their songs, starting with "Princess of China" which went right into their hit "Paradise." It's already been a performance-packed Grammys, but Rihanna and Chris Martin's collaboration was certainly a highlight. Rih showed off some skin with her onstage outfit, but she also turned heads with her red carpet look earlier in the evening. Rihanna wore a custom-made Armani gown, which left little to the imagination.

Rihanna brought an extra dose of sexiness to music's biggest night in an Armani gown at the Grammys. She helped design the racy black dress, which had an open back and slit, with Giorgio Armani. Rihanna's nominated at this evening's show and will also be performing. She'll first take the stage solo and will later be joined by Coldplay. Rihanna will be back in the spotlight later this month for the Brit Awards, which will take place on Feb. 21, the day after her 24th birthday.

Rihanna Wears a Seriously Tiny String Bikini to Paddleboard

Rihanna was in a string bikini yesterday for an afternoon of surfing in Hawaii. She wasn't photographed actually paddling, but seemed content to soak up the sun while laying out on the board. We've seen lots of Rihanna bikini pictures during her latest tropical getaway. She's been all about wearing bathing suits, whether horsing around with her friends or even working out on an elliptical. Rihanna certainly earned the downtime after touring the world in the last year and releasing a new album. She'll be back to work soon, though, when she does a duet with Coldplay at the Grammys on Feb. 12.
