Julia Showers Tom With Love and a Few Naughty Words

Tom Hanks was the man of the hour last night at the 36th Film Society of Lincoln Center's Gala in NYC. Rita Wilson sparkled on his arm, while Ron Howard framed the perfect shot of Tom and Julia Roberts. Fresh off her trip to Venice, Charlize couldn't help but gush about Salma Hayek's wedding and how beautiful the bride looked in her gown. Julia got the most attention of the night due to her miniroast of Tom. She teased him about a few of his past movies and used the f-word so many times to describe everything from his wife's body to wearing the same dress as his publicist that Tom called out her potty mouth in his own speech.

Will & Tom's Legendary Promotion Still Going

Tom Cruise and Will Smith continued to bond across the country at the I Am Legend premiere in NYC. This time around Jada joined in on the fun with the rest of the family. Love her in green but she's wowed me more before. I think it's pretty sweet how the Cruises support their friends so much. Between Spice Girls concerts to events like this, Tom and Katie always seem to be by their sides yet somehow they are in dead last on the BFF poll of 2007. My guess is Tom's scary Scientology beliefs have scared many of you off but since his friends have declared he is not recruiting them maybe we should just realize they have Legend - wait for it - ary relationships.

Despite rumors that Graydon Carter was scaling things back for this year's Vanity Fair Oscars party, the soiree was as A-List as ever at its new venue the Sunset Towers. Jennifer Aniston could relax after her presenting duties, and when she and John Mayer hit the party, they couldn't keep their hands off each other. The couple cuddled up every chance they got, and he twittered a sweet message about her. Salma Hayek hugged her friend Penelope Cruz to celebrate her Supporting Actress win. Elsewhere, Jessica Alba and Kate Bosworth caught up with presenter Halle Berry to smile for the cameras, while Jake Gyllenhaal shared a moment with Reese Witherspoon.

The fans let loose quite the screams when Kate Winslet, the star of the night, hit the red carpet with her Oscar in hand. Once inside the party she shared it with fellow nominee Meryl Streep just a bit. Madonna had her own party to host with Demi Moore, but she also stopped by VF, where she showed off her toned arms. Apparently even Captain Sully made a surprise appearance at the bash, which may have been smaller than usual but didn't lack in the glamour department.

Brad and Angelina Join Fellow Nominees at the BAFTAs

On Sunday many familiar faces from this award season went to London to walk the red carpet in the rain at the BAFTAs. Angelina Jolie mixed it up with a splash of yellow while Brad Pitt wore a classic tux. Kate Winslet took home the Leading Actress trophy for The Reader while Penelope Cruz finally won Best Supporting Actress. Best Actor Mickey Rourke celebrated by chugging champagne in the press room and Heath Ledger received another posthumous win for Dark Knight. Even Shia LaBeouf made it out to present an award but was careful to hide his hurt hand. Once again, Slumdog Millionaire was the big winner of the night, taking home seven trophies including Best Film - check out the full list of winners here. Stars Warm Up For the Oscars With a Little Lunch

The 2009 Oscar nominees got to mix and mingle with their competition at the annual luncheon thrown in their honor in Beverly Hills earlier today. Brad and Angelina sat this one out, but Kate Winslet, Penelope Cruz, Robert Downey Jr., and lots of others were happy to come out and pose in front of the the big golden statue. Anne Hathaway revealed that her big date to the event will be her dad, and she is even hoping to score extra tickets for her mother and brother. In just a few weeks this group will be separated into winners and those who are just happy to be nominated, but for now they all seem to be enjoying the honor of being recognized for their hard work.

Slumdog Director Continues to Steal the Spotlight

This weekend award season kept on rolling and this time it was all about the directors. Slumdog Millionaire continued its winning streak as Danny Boyle received the night's top honor for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film at the Directors Guild Awards in LA. This honor helps the movie secure its Oscar worthy odds in a few weeks. Claire Danes brought Hugh Dancy with her to present an award to The Office's Paul Feig while past nominee Sean Penn also took the stage to share a few words. Other presenters included Christian Bale and Josh Brolin, who both looked great in their suits, among the rest of the all-stars out to support the people who direct their talent behind-the-scenes.

AFI Awards Keeps Things Rolling

This past week the award season kicked off and on Friday AFI joined in on the mix. They pick their top 10 movies and TV shows of 2008 which include Benjamin Button, Milk, Dark Knight, Mad Men, Lost and The Wire. Emile Hirsch was there to continue to show off his not-so-hot mustache while the ladies from Mad Men, January Jones and Christina Hendricks, kept their classic style off screen as well. The Critics Pick Heath, Anne, Milk and Slumdog Millionaire

First the people chose then last night the critics awarded an A-list crowd of actors, writers and directors with their favorites. Jason Alexander opened the event asking Brad and Angelina to adopt him before Ben Stiller took home the first award of the night for Tropic Thunder as the Best Comedy. The most moving moment was when Heath Ledger won and director Chris Nolan accepted his award with a standing ovation from the crowd. Anne Hathaway tied with Meryl Streep for best actress and in her speech she excitedly rambled in a heartfelt way, ending with a part about her father protecting her and proving that there are good, strong, loving men out there. Milk and Slumdog Millionaire were big winners with multiple wins while Richard Gere received the special Joel Siegel award for his offscreen efforts. The Palm Springs International Film Festival kicked off last night with their awards gala attended by some of the most acclaimed stars of the year. They screened Dustin Hoffman's new movie Last Chance Harvey and honored Hoffman, Sean Penn, and the cast of Revolutionary Road among others. Thankfully a sun-kissed from Cabo Leo made the trek to represent his movie. Dakota Fanning looked absolutely lovely and grown up in blue while Anne Hathaway traded in her dramatic hair and pantsuit for a LBD. As if LA isn't full of enough star power, it's only about to get brighter over the next few nights of award shows starting with last night's red carpet beauties.
