Bateman and Arnett Are Back, Animated and Still Developing

Jason Bateman and Will Arnett are back together on a new show, only we won't be seeing much of them at all. The animated show, Sit Down, Shut Up, based on an Australian program premieres this spring and reunites a whole lot of Arrested Development cast, writers and producers. Of course, talks at their TCA lunch immediately went to the AD movie - which is apparently Valkyrie meets Hotel for Dogs, hilarious. Jason Bateman and Will Arnett kept the whole room laughing trading jabs and with barely a serious sentence uttered. The rest of the cast, including Kristin Chenoweth, Cheri Oteri and Nick Kroll kept right up. If the show is anything like the panel, the fans will be happy. Here are a few highlights:

Jason Bateman on doing voice over work: "It frees up a lot of time for me. It takes about 45 minutes to snap this bad boy off. . . No, doing voice over work takes a lot of work - not a badger tail like Arnett, not a lick-n-stick. It is not easy for me. I keep anticipating a pink slip every time we do one of these things. I'm happy to be here, I don’t know how much longer I will be here. Not like Velvet Pipes here [at Arnett]."
Will Arnett: "It’s a different experience you’re in a room by yourself not with the other actors. Kind of doing it in a vacuum. You can read a scene all the way through and then you can go back and immediately run through it again and completely reinterpret the scene so its very freeing."
Nick Kroll: "Actually, we all work together it's just you who doesn't."
Will Arnett: "Is it fun?"
Nick Kroll: "We have a great time."

Costar Tom Kenny joked that Will and Jason have been "really good about autographs, we don't ask for them, they just sign stuff and give it to us" before the Development alums got into a lengthy discussion about why the show never caught on and how the Nielsen system didn't work in their favor at the time. Clearly still something they're thinking about, as are all the devotees who will get a special treat when this show hits the screen.

Victoria Is Dressed to Impress and Sell Dresses in the UK

Victoria Beckham arrived in London today transported by an Air Harrods helicopter. Surrounded by friends, Victoria was definitely showing off some of that street style she's famous for, looking ready to make appearances in the UK to promote her dress collection. She recently granted an interview to chat about her line, opening up about her well-mannered boys, her career, and her famous American pals. Here's more:

On getting ready to debut her collection: "I was so nervous that for days before I drank loads and loads of water. God, I'm square.”
On avoiding rumors: "I'm just really happy. I wake up every morning and I think I'm so blessed. I don't read the stuff that's written about us. I'm not interested in gossip. Some of the people that I'm friends with in America - you know, Tom and Katie - they get it too and we laugh about all these stupid things."
On doing things her way: "I don't really care what people think. I never made friends easily. For years, when I was in the Spice Girls, those were my four best friends and we stuck up for each other. Now I've got David. Nothing has ever come particularly naturally to me. It's made me a hard worker and very disciplined. I get that from my dad."

On her career's evolution: "Being in the Spice Girls, fashion-wise probably didn't open any doors. If anything it shut doors and I've had to bang them down.”
On her design process: "I put it all on myself and walk around in it, and I know what feels comfortable. I know how a dress should sit. I've worn so many in the past and when I see the photographs I think, crikey, my boobs are up round my neck again because the corsets are too short and not cut high enough. Like I knew I would spend a lot on the best-quality zips because, like many women, I've had my share of crappy zips. I wanted a zip that undoes from both ends because then you can either put the dress on over your head or, if you don't want to mess up your hair, you can step into it - and also, you know, going to the loo wouldn't be this whole big palaver."

It's always a treat to hear Victoria open up about her family and friends, and it's great to hear her cracking jokes and being her fun self. With her boys in LA and David in New Zealand, it looks like she's got lots of friends around to keep her happy and busy while she's in the UK.

John Is Actively Searching For the Future Mrs. Mayer

John Mayer is a bit obsessed with finding his wife, but thankfully it sounds like she's not going to be Paris Hilton. The singer (Mayer, thankyouverymuch) denied Hilton's aggressive advances at a Grammy post party on Sunday night. Back to the wife though, Mr. Fitness, seen here running in Santa Monica yesterday, recently talked candidly to Best Life magazine about that search and how the day he met Jessica Simpson was the day he grew up. Here's highlights:

On finding the one: “I think about my wife all the time. I kind of obsess on it, and what I want to find is a person who can speak those kinds of magic words. I mean ‘No complaints’ is a great way to live. Also, I want a woman who doesn’t hear ‘How are you?’ as ‘I would like you to come up with something dramatic now that will allow me to sit in front of you and give you more attention than I would have if you had just said No complaints.’ When I find the person I can relate to on that level and who is also a pinup and who also says ‘Can I please take pictures of your ass?’ then I am going to get married to her. That I can promise you.”
On his fears: “My fear is that I go up to the girl of my dreams and say, ‘I’m sorry, but I’ve got to say hello to you,’ and she slides the stool back and gets up and walks away, saying, ‘Not for me, Bub. I don’t want anything to do with you.’ And she says that because of something in my past. I mean, I know how to be a celebrity. I know how to be a guy on the street. I know how to roll with the punches. I know how to do the whole thing. And my past is actually pretty sterling. But when I think about my wife, I worry. I worry about what she thinks when she reads about me in US Weekly. It’s all vapor, nothing, ether. But I worry about it. I worry about what she thinks."
On his personal life "I tell you this without fear. I don’t feel like anybody knows my personal life. My personal life is 100 percent intact. Where I ate last night or who I ate with is not my personal life. You want to say the name Jessica Simpson? Say the name Jessica Simpson. You want to say Cameron Diaz, say Cameron Diaz. That’s not my personal life. My personal life is what happens in my heart and my head. Nobody knows what’s going on in my head.”

On Jessica: “Let me bring you into the mind-set now. When you take two people who are trying to get together and relate, that’s already kind of a cluster f--k. But then, with us, there was this whole looming threat. And at a certain point, I got so many tension headaches just from magazine covers. Real tension headaches, from the mention of my name with someone else’s name and how people felt about that. Literal physiological responses where I was like, Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God, oh my God. I thought to myself, Are you sure you want to do this? And what I said to myself was, You know what? There are times in your life when there is nobody to confer with but yourself. And you know what? This is my life, and this is a person I want to spend more time with, and I’m not going to let that other vapor get in the way. And I’ll defend that decision till the end.” He pauses, then marches on. “I also want to say about Jessica that I don’t want to talk about her or my experience with her as a dark cloud or something tumorous or cancerous. That’s all perception. It was very comfortable and very soothing. I never went, Gee, I sure would like two or three days away from this."
On how meeting Jess made him grow up: “I’d been a famous touring musician who had also been a shut-in for a really long time, which was weird,” he says. “But I’d had it really, really good. I had hit song, hit song, hit song. ‘Did you hear about this kid?’ And I’m like, Look at my respect. Look how credible my artistry is. I’m really perfect. I’m really doing it. It’s aces. And you get addicted to cultivating that thing and making it perfect. I’m telling you, man, I’m not f--king with you. But it stopped being perfect the day I said to myself, Wow, my heart is involved in this. The one thing I’d never been in my life is a person without a guitar. I used to be really frightened that if I stopped, it would leave me. But I had to evolve. If I wanted to see Jessica more, I had to grow up. And that’s the day that I grew up. A lot of people say it’s the day I grew down. Too bad. It’s the day I grew up.”

I am a sucker for when he defends Jess, but alas, it seems those two were never meant to be. While it sounds like he really wants that someone special, the gossip columns can attest that Mr. Mayer is having no trouble finding ladies in the meantime.

Jennifer Opens Up But She's Still Got Her Secrets

Jennifer Lopez is glowing and gorgeous on the cover of the February issue of Harper's Bazaar. Guess she didn't want to go and bare her baby bump like other stars before her - you wouldn't even know she was pregnant from this photo. In the article, however, J Lo isn't afraid to open up about keeping her pregnancy a secret and what the future holds for her career as a working mom. Here are highlights:

On waiting to confirm her pregnancy: "I do realize people want to know because they're interested, but this is the first time I'm going through this. This is my experience and my husband's experience, and we get to hold that for a little while. Kind of feel like everybody knew anyway. I was on tour with a bubble gut!"
On maintaining her privacy: "I'm just feeling too protective to open that door right now. It's a Pandora's box. It's a destructive lifestyle to be out there. I know because I've lived it. Being on the cover of the tabloids every day for two years - it's hard. You start forgetting who you really are inside."

On taking time off: "I don't know - and I like that, because my life has been so planned for so many years. Once I did the tour, I really just wanted to shut it down, and since then I've had to do three things, including a video. It may not sound like a lot, but you know, at this point, any woman can sympathize. It is a lot. I was ready just to sit."

Jennifer has been one of Hollywood's hardest workers over the years, so we don't blame her for wanting to take a break for awhile. Plus, running after a baby or two won't exactly be a quiet vacation from making movies and going on tour.

Tara About to Breakdown?

Page Six reports that Tara Reid is on the edge of a "complete meltdown." Taradise has been canceled and now she is looking for a serious role so she can shut up the media and have them stop picking on her. In an interview with Steppin' Out magazine she said,"

"How many more years are [the media] going to pick on me? There's other new young bad girls. Move on to someone else! . . . I need one more great movie role so they say, 'Wow, she can act! She's a great actress.' Then I think they'll leave me alone . . . If I'm going to try and do something, it has to happen this year. I'm not stupid."

"People think [I am just a party girl], and it's bull[bleep]," she ranted to Hayden. "I wish they would just tell the truth. I'm not a drunk . . . I don't have a drinking problem. I don't have a drug problem, for sure.

Listen, if I could get good movies, you would never see me going out. But when there's nothing to do, what am I supposed to do, just sit in my house and go crazy? But going out is not all I do.

"I'm just fed up. I just want a chance again. I want to show that I am an actress . . . I just wish a director would believe in me.

"The gossip reporters know the truth. They know they could write good things about me. They could write I'm a good person who is cleaning up her act. I am getting older, and I want different things in my life. I want to get married and have kids.

"I've had a million publicists, and they've done nothing for me . . . Publicists are supposed to fight for me and believe in me, and they don't do that. They don't!

"I thought 'Taradise' was going to help me . . . I wanted to show the whole world the truth â€” I'm fun . . . But do I think it was cut like that? No. It could have been a better show . . . I didn't want to look like a total party-girl drug retard. I think the shots they show aren't fair."

Is she kidding? It wasn't just the show that made her look ridiculous. It's all the drunk photos that didn't even make it on E! that ruined her. You know like when she falls down again and again. She needs more then a good publicist - she needs rehab, a style makeover, a trainer and some acting lessons before anyone in Hollywood will take her seriously.
