Speed Racer Takes a Backseat to Charity For the Weekend

The cast of Speed Racer saw a perfect opportunity to promote their film at the 2008 Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race in Long Beach on Saturday. Emile Hirsch and Matthew Fox looked cool and casual as they watched from the sidelines, while the ladies got a bit more dressed up. Christina Ricci wasn't going to let a sports event stop her from looking girly in her high heels and cute hair - what do you think of her wavy bob? Drew Lachey slipped into a jumpsuit to race for charity and Nick couldn't resist pulling the bunny ears for the photo op - we guess that's just what big brothers are for.

A Little Rain Can't Slow Down Speed Racer

The stars of Speed Racer had a bit of inclement weather to deal with on the red carpet at the movie's London premiere, but that didn't keep the smiles off their faces. Emile Hirsch, Susan Sarandon, and Christina Ricci did their best to stay dry with the help of an umbrella or twelve. Meanwhile, little Rocco Ritchie looked like he would've preferred to stay dry inside, but we give the family credit for braving the storm and reminding us all to buy Madonna's new album.

Patrick Dempsey Suits Up to Drive Around and Around

Patrick Dempsey skipped out on last night's SAG Awards, instead choosing to put on another type of suit entirely. He went purple and white (rather than his requisite Versace, naturally) to race in the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona event at the International Speedway in Daytona Beach. This wasn't his first time behind the wheel of a race car, but it was the debut of his hobby at this particular event. It looks like Dr. Shepherd's need for speed is keeping him especially busy (not that there's anything wrong with competitive beard-growing) during the strike.

Christina Cradles Her Coned Canine

Christina Ricci headed to the animal hospital in LA on Wednesday to pick up her adorable French bulldog Ramon. The poor little guy didn't seem happy about his uncomfortable and embarrassing doggie cone, but Christina's big smile tells us that everything went smoothly with his procedure. While her latest film Speed Racer turned out to be a box office bomb, we can't think of a better way to cheer up than with her furry little buddy.

Christina Ricci was still sporting her lighter locks running errands in LA yesterday. She's got her toddler hair color, like she suggests everyone should. It's not just the hair, but knowing that she's dyed it combined with her cut (and maybe the outfit) that makes her look super young, right? She's getting back to her inner kid in another way too; up next for Christina is the remake of Speed Racer costarring Emile Hirsch which is due out next year. Go, speed Ricci, go. Sorry, sorry.
