VH1 Divas: Miley Calls Kanye Disrespectful, True Blood's Sam Takes on Twilight's Jacob, and Paula Channels Ellen!

The star-studded VH1 Divas kicked off last night at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and new diva-inductees like Jennifer Hudson, Jordin Sparks, Miley Cyrus, and Kelly Clarkson walked the red carpet in their glamorous gowns. Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port looked gorgeous and sparkly, and we'll have more on LC's possible LA Candy movie deal later. Miley weighed in on the Taylor/Kanye incident, calling him out as disrespectful. Kelly also had some things to say about it as well as the Paula/Ellen change on American Idol. Sam Trammell, who plays Sam Merlotte on True Blood, also told us he thinks his shape-shifter character could take on Taylor Lautner's Jacob - check out the interviews below!

Paula Abdul opened the night with a surprise performance and jokingly introduced the live show saying "I'm Paula Abdul and this is NOT American Idol." Later in the night she came out dressed as Ellen DeGeneres, dancing across the stage before saying "All kidding aside - [I have] nothing but love for Ellen, and I wish you the best of luck and congratulations on your new gig." There were many performances and duets to enjoy, like Jennifer Hudson and Stevie Wonder, as well as solos by all the divas like Jordin Sparks. Miley on Taylor/Kanye VMA incident: "I think it's just disrespectful so I think the best thing is - I probably would have done what [Taylor] did and just walk away from it because she looks better than he does."
Sam on Sam Merlotte vs. Jacob Black: "Is he tall? I think he's really tall . . . Oh is that just in the movie? I could probably take him because I could just turn into some huge animal and just take him. Yeah, I could just turn into a big bull and take him."
Kelly on whether she has words of encouragement for Taylor Swift: "I don't think she needs any. She handled it really well and she's just a really sweet girl. I love Taylor and she knows I do. I keep asking her to write me some songs, I love her writing. The whole situation in general was the straw that broke the camel's back. Not only that situation. Unfortunately Kanye was the straw that broke the camel's back. But there's a lot of crappy things that go on in the industry and it's just not right. This is supposed to be fun. We're not scientists, we're not doing anything mind-blowing. We should all be having fun and complimenting each other and lifting each other up. I don't get it."
Kelly on taking stage with Paula, and Paula leaving Idol: "I'm used to that! We've been doing off and on for seven years; we all end up at the same shows. So I'm so used to seeing her everywhere. I don't even know enough about [Paula leaving Idol] but I think she's probably ready. I mean they've done like nine seasons. It's pretty cool she's going off and doing something on her own and right after it she's hosting VH1 Divas. Oh my God, she's performing and I saw rehearsals and it's insane. I'm like a 12-year-old again and singing 'Straight Up.' We're all dying backstage."

Michael Phelps Cleans Up at the Star-Studded ESPY Awards

Many celebs hit the red carpet last night at the ESPY awards in LA to honor the stars of the sports industry. Samuel L. Jackson was the evening's host, and he kept the audience laughing with his jokes about Twitter. Zachary Quinto took the stage looking dapper in his suit, while Miranda Kerr smiled for photos before the scary robbery at Orlando Bloom's house. Demi Moore was also on hand to present Michael Phelps with one of his five awards. It might not have been as snazzy as last year's Justin Timberlake's ESPY hosting gig, but the athletes and stars looked fantastic for the sports-filled night.

Michael wasn't the only one getting trophies - Hollywood's beloved Lakers won Best Team. Other presenters included Rashida Jones and Jeremy Piven, while funny men Andy Samberg and Seth Meyers watched alongside Billy Crudup. The festivities are set to air Sunday evening on ESPN.

An ex-producer from American Idol said he doesn't remember Paula Abdul asking the producers to keep her stalker off the show, and he thought the girl was just a big fan. Meanwhile more rumors are surfacing that Paula wants to leave AI. - Us Weekly
The LAPD is apparently questioning Shaha Adham's Russian roulette story about Scott Ruffalo's death. The story doesn't quite line up, since he was shot in the back of the head, the 911 call was for assault not suicide, and the paramedics didn't even know he was shot until he was inside the ambulance. - TMZ

Stars Sing and Cheer For Barack's Big Night

Invesco Field at Mile High was full of excited supporters out to watch Barack Obama's historic speech last night at the finale of the DNC in Denver. As expected, some big names took the stage and their seats as the Democratic presidential candidate accepted the party's nomination and gave his speech - Citizen was there, check out her thoughts on the scene! Obama wasn't the only rock star in the house as John Legend and Sheryl Crow both performed, as did Jennifer Hudson who sang the national anthem. Fergie wore her ridiculous sunglasses, while Jessica Alba and Cash looked proud to be there even if Honor is a bit too young for the actual event. The journey to election day will only get harder from here for Obama, but it looks like his Hollywood fans are ready to do what it takes to lend their support.

Denzel's Debaters Wins Big at the NAACP Awards

Last night the ladies looked easy and breezy on the red carpet at the NAACP Awards but it was dapper Denzel who took home top honors. The Oscar presenter may not be nominated for any Academy Awards this year but he did score 4 Image Awards last night for his movie The Great Debaters including Best Actor and Best Motion Picture. The evening also included Hall of Fame winner Stevie Wonder who has quite a few fabulous things to say about Obama and Hillary as well as a great performance. Janet Jackson presented the singer with his honor and she also scored her own award for Best Supporting Actress in Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married? Kate's New Movie Looks a Little Foolish

Kate Hudson was spotted in yet another stylish, gray coat after catching a performance by Stevie Wonder in London last night. She took a little break from making movies after You, Me and Dupree back in 2006, but soon she'll be hitting up the likes of TRL and lots of red carpets to promote her Fool's Gold with Matthew McConaughey. After seeing these two working and laughing together again in Australia, we were psyched to get a glimpse of their romantic comedy. Unfortunately, after watching the trailer, we have a feeling that the new film is not quite on the same level as How to Lose a Guys in 10 Days. Beautiful people Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry walked hand in hand on their way out of the Stevie Wonder concert at LA's Hollywood Bowl last night. Halle was showing off that glow fresh from Hawaii where she was modeling a bikini over the weekend in a photo shoot. Baby Nahla stayed at home for this one - I guess she's still getting good and ready for when we finally get to meet the almost-four-month-old little one. While we're still eagerly anticipating our first Nahla sighting, just getting to see hot Gabriel now and then is good enough for me.
