Ryan Lost His Costars, But That Didn't Stop His Night

Uh oh, looks like Ryan Phillippe didn't pack any smiles for his trip to NYC for last night's Stop-Loss premiere. Sad face. He also doesn't seem to have packed his costars Channing Tatum or Joseph Gordon-Levitt, not to mention Miss Abbie Cornish. That's all okay, though, because special thanks to all those workouts Ryan brings enough handsome for the whole lot of 'em. Just maybe a little bit sleepy.

No Loss for Hot Guys at the Stop-Loss Premiere

Ryan Phillippe came out to premiere his new movie Stop-Loss in LA last night, but he didn't have his costar/girlfriend Abbie Cornish on his arm. In fact, she didn't come to her premiere at all, which isn't much of a surprise since the studio's PR team didn't want the couple promoting the movie together and reminding everyone of the Ryan-Reese break up. Instead, Ryan was joined by his male costars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Channing Tatum. It's been a while since we've had Ryan as the leading man so it should be interesting to see if he can pull off this heart-wrenching film with his fellow leading men and women.

Sugar Bits - Madonna's Directorial Debut Heads to Berlin

Madonna's first film as a director, Filth and Wisdom, will debut in February at the Berlin Film Festival, out of competition. She's obviously a successful performer and businesswoman, but the movies have been her downfall in the past. Let's hope being behind the camera is a better fit for Madge. - AP

The PR team for Stop Loss are trying to make sure that co-stars Ryan Phillippe and Abbie Cornish promote the movie separately so audiences don't associate the movie with Ryan's divorce from Reese. Too bad it seems a little late for that, especially since Ryan and Abbie seem pretty together these days. - Page Six

Ryan Phillippe Takes the High Road

Ryan Phillippe has been making his way around the NYC promotional circuit, making stops at GMA this morning, and Howard Stern yesterday to talk about Stop-Loss. As usual, Howard had no problem getting right down to personal business, asking Ryan about all his rumored hook-ups and how he feels about Reese and Jake. Rather than more of that rumored sleaziness, this time around he was sweet and genuine. He said, "He's a good dude. I love her and I want her to be happy, and it seems like she is." We may never stop secretly hoping for a Reese and Ryan reunion and at least quotes like this show us that there is still caring between them.

Ryan Reflects on Containing His Anger

Ryan Phillippe is promoting Stop-Loss overseas and in an interview with Britain's The Times Magazine he spoke about his breakup with Reese, paparazzi life with kids and growing up in a small town. This weekend he was seen doing his normal daddy duty things like buying shoes for Deacon and Ava. In the article he explained how his own aggressive reactions to the paparazzi have made Ava skittish of the cameras as opposed to this new plan to use the paps to advertise organizations he supports and just go about his way. Looks like he's got it all under control these days.

On his split with Reese:
“I fooled myself into believing it would be easier than it was. To have people speculating constantly about the state of your relationship, casting aspersions and telling lies... It took more of a toll than I was immediately aware of. When you factor in being separated so much because you’re working in different places... Not that I blame our no longer being together on that one thing. I take responsibility and she [Witherspoon] would also for the way we ended up going. But it didn’t help.”

On why Ava is scared of the paparazzi:
“She’s aware and it creates in her a lot of anxiety, which is partly my fault. When Ava was very young, I was young too. And brash. I’d get... I wouldn’t like to say violent, but visibly angry at the paparazzi back then. She was my first child, and my instinct was to protect her. I remember one time that I’m not at all proud of, I was holding my daughter and handed her to Reese and ran off to chase this one guy down and hit him. I would never do that now."

On his hometown in Delaware:
“So while there’s a lot going on all around, Delaware itself doesn’t have much of an identity. And I’d draw a parallel there with myself in the regard that I can go off in different directions, either as an actor or in my personal life, but that I am, I think, essentially unremarkable. I’m kind of Delaware personified. That having made some 30 movies I’m probably the most famous person ever to come from there tells you all you need to know.” His home community of New Castle is technically a city, though it has fewer than 5,000 citizens. “I guess that’s why I always had the drive to move on. Had I stayed, I think it would have been a very restricted and predictable life.”

Ryan Phillippe was solo bear at LAX on Wednesday, making his way through security but careful never to lose the sunglasses. While we love love love to see him with his adorable kids, Ryan by himself is gaining back the cute cred. His Stop-Loss was a bit of a bust at the box office, but hey, if he's interested Jay Leno still thinks they're BFFs. So . . . there's always that.

Ryan Phillippe Has a Few Wounds to Nurse

Ryan Phillippe isn't usually a sunshine and rainbows kinda guy, but he was looking particularly down both at the airport and at the gym this week. It wasn't exactly the greatest weekend for him since his Stop-Loss bombed at the box office. There's also the whole Reese and Jake trip to Cabo - even though Ryan said he was happy for his ex-wife, seeing Jake vacationing with his little ones has to hurt just a little. To top it all off, Ryan's name is being dragged into headlines thanks to Jay Leno's gay jokes which made even Ryan uncomfortable. Jay has since apologized but it's kind of sad that no one will remember Ryan's appearance on the show for anything other than this controversy now.

Before Posh and the boys got back in LA, David Beckham had a night out on the town, solo style. He stopped for dinner at Nobu and then it was off to the hotspot, Villa. He looked hot, naturally, and a little bit stern. Maybe it was still some residual grumpiness after his tough loss to kick off the new season. Hopefully he wiped that sad bear look off his face when his family got back home.

Ryan Phillippe's Still Getting Over His Loss

Last week, Ryan Phillippe chatted with Howard Stern about how he's happy for Reese and Jake, but watching your ex move on is never easy. As he continues to promote Stop-Loss, Ryan is still opening up a little about his personal life, his kids, and Reese. Here are highlights from an interview with USA Today:

On seeing photos of Reese and Jake: "It's bizarre. There's plenty of times when I say, 'What a strange situation I've found myself in.' But at a certain point you know it's going to happen, so you are prepared in some fashion."
On getting married again: "I can see doing it again, yeah. And I can certainly see possibly having children again. I'm pretty young, and there are many beautiful things about that idea of marriage and family. It just doesn't always work out perfect for everybody. But I've done all I'm going to do in terms of talking about that part. It's fair to her and fair to myself to move on."

There might always be a part of Ryan that loves Reese, but it sounds like he's got a good head on his shoulders and is ready to move on with his life. Whether or not he's got a new lady friend, he always has his adorable blondies to help keep his chin up.

Ryan Shows Off His New Ink

Ryan Phillippe was looking hot - literally and figuratively - showing off his big new arm tattoo after an unfortunately indoor workout yesterday. Ryan's always had one of the better bodies and while preparing for his role in Stop-Loss, the grueling fitness regimen helped bring the cast together. In a recent interview with Extra, he said, “Initially we got physically and emotionally ready with a boot camp at the beginning. [It] gave us [co-stars] the opportunity to bond, like in the most sincere fashion...But ultimately the relationships we formed were what lent itself to truth in the film.” Hmm, we wonder if Ryan formed a special bond with any one co-star in particular?
