The actress had a reason to smile - The Ugly Truth took the third spot at the box office, raking in $27 million. Katherine worked hard to promote her film with Gerard Butler and earned the right to celebrate with her BFF/former costar.

Are You Surprised by T.R. Knight's Comments About Grey's?

T.R. Knight landed on the cover of Entertainment Weekly, finally opening up about his big decision to leave Grey's Anatomy. He essentially chalks up the move to his disagreements with the show's executive producer, Shonda Rimes, and the fallout from Isaiah Washington's profanity-laced tirade in 2006. He said:

On his frustration: "My five-year experience proved to me that I could not trust any answer that was given [about George]."
On coming out publicly after Isaiah's incident: "I think she was concerned about having my statement come out so close to the [initial] event."
On leaving his $14 million contract: "From an outsider's perspective, I get the [impression that] 'He’s just a spoiled actor…he doesn’t know how good he has it. There are a lot of people who would like to be in my position. But in the end, I need to be fulfilled in my work."

Katherine and Gerard Have a Good Time With The Ugly Truth

Gerard Butler got silly with a giggling Katherine Heigl at the LA premiere of The Ugly Truth last night. Katherine showed off her new darker 'do to her BFF T.R. Knight and a few other costars from Grey's Anatomy. She didn't talk about the news of the Emmy nominations. After her year of ghost sex and brain tumors, it may have been surprising to not see her name on the list. Gerard was taking a break from work on The Bounty with Jennifer Aniston, and he opened up on the carpet about how they laugh about all the dating rumors. He had nothing but praise for Jen, as he's apparently quite friendly with many of his leading ladies.

Celebrities Get Happy and Bikini-Clad For GLAAD Awards

The GLAAD Media Awards came to LA on Saturday night with another star-studded red carpet. Kathy Griffin couldn't help but show off her "banging bikini bod" yet again when she took the stage to accept her award. Ellen DeGeneres also took home a statue and looked fantastic with Portia De Rossi as they took a moment to talk about their love. Jessica Alba shimmered and smiled brightly while presenting an award and the women of Wisteria Lane supported Marc Cherry when Desperate Housewives won best TV comedy series. Next up, the GLAAD awards hit San Francisco on May 9.

The GLAAD Awards Kick Off in NYC by Honoring Tyra

The annual series of nationwide GLAAD media award ceremonies kicked off this weekend in NYC. Vanessa Williams and her pregnant Ugly Betty costar Ana Ortiz were two of the attendees, while Tyra Banks received the Excellence in Media Award for her efforts to increase "visibility and understanding of the gay and lesbian community." T.R. Knight and Chris Noth also came out to show their support, taking the stage and looking handsome in their suits. Los Angeles and San Francisco awards are still coming up, but the Manhattan stars looked like they were enjoying the kickoff event as they smiled and mingled the night away.

Posh, Eva, and More Help Elton Raise Money After the Oscars

For many stars, Elton John's annual charitable Oscar party was the destination last night, and for others it was a stop along the way. Victoria Beckham, Eva Longoria, and Chace Crawford were just a handful of the beautiful people who stepped out to attend his 17th Oscar bash, which raised $4 million for AIDS by the end of the night. Kate Beckinsale had her husband Len as her date, while Ben Stiller ditched his Joaquin beard to chat up Ryan Seacrest. Elton took his turn at the piano to play "Benny and the Jets" for his guests and also shared a few words, saying, "People are going through tremendous hardship. In this time of hardship, we are going to raise as much money as we possibly can."

Simon Cowell looked happy to have Terri Seymour back on his arm after their recent split, while Quincy Jones was especially proud of his date, daughter Rashida. Claire Danes celebrated with her new fiance Hugh Dancy, and fellow musicians Josh Groban and Carrie Underwood got to take a night off from performing to celebrate a different aspect of the entertainment industry. Elton's was just one of the many star-studded afterparties the night offered, but combining a special cause with the festivities was an added Oscar night bonus.

Milk Comes Home to San Francisco

The Milk premiere brought out Hollywood actors, political figures and the movie's real life inspirations in SF last night. Sean Penn walked the red carpet with Robin by his side but skipped chatting with reporters to greet fans. TR Knight and his boyfriend came to support the film along with the stars of the movie including Josh Brolin, Diego Luna, Alison Pill and happy to return to his home James Franco. Emile Hirsch talked on the red carpet about what made him want to get involved in Milk. He said,

"To me it’s just really an American story. It’s the quintessential principles, it’s what we stand for - equality, democracy, it’s these principles. The film tells the story in a very unlikely way, but it really is what it means to be an American. That’s why this really is the greatest country in the world."

Patriotic sounding Emile wasn't the only one ready to express enthusiasm, everyone else at the premiere from the actors, the historical figures and picketers for no on Prop 8 had a lot to say about the political atmosphere.

Katherine and TR Explore The Americana's Anatomy

Real life BFFs Katherine Heigl and TR Knight took a break from work as George and a possibly dying Izzie for a shopping trip at The Americana in Glendale yesterday. These days, Grey's isn't the only thing on Katherine's plate - among other projects she is producing and starring in the polygamist movie Escape. She recently opened up about her own Mormon upbringing while talking about her life. Here are some highlights:

On being Mormon: "[I'm not a] strong, practicing Mormon. I'm not as disciplined about it as I once was, but I hope to find my way back as I get older and a little less selfish. I'm ashamed to say that I've just got very lazy about it. I satisfy my vices instead of fighting them. If I start going back to church, I'd have to stop the smoking and drinking, and I wouldn't be able to curse any more."
On her family becoming Mormon after her brother's death: "It changed everything for all of us. Everybody suffered in different ways. It really screwed up everything, and it took a long time for us to be able to function as a family again without him."
On fame: "Before, my worries were, 'Am I ever going to work again?' and, 'Can I pay the mortgage this month?' There were so many lean years. A lot of lean years. The success is great. It gives me much more freedom."

On meeting Josh and his proposal: "We ended up having dinner after filming [his music video] and when he hadn't called the next day, I called him because I really liked him. I also told him I loved him first. I didn't propose to him - but I suggested strongly that he should propose. So when he did, it wasn't a big surprise. But he was so nervous, which I found endearing. He took me back to Venice Beach where we'd met during the making of his video, and he was so romantic. He'd set up a table for dinner with candles and wine. It was so surreal, because you suddenly realize it's not dating any more - it was intense."
On starting a family: "Marriage is actually really terrifying. It doesn't work for many people and, in today's society, you don't really need that piece of paper. But I came to the realization that I want a family, and I think marriage is the first step. [...] I think we're both on such a career trajectory right now it would be foolish to waste the opportunities. I think he'd prefer to wait a little more, but I kind of wouldn't, so I think we'll meet somewhere in the middle."
On her acting career: "It doesn't get much better than this. I would hate to take it for granted, because it won't always be like this. If I have another 10-15 years before my acting career peters out, I'll be lucky. [...] I want to stay in the moment and enjoy the great things that are happening. I hope it continues for a while. That would be nice."

Katherine seems happy with how her future looks, but we're more interested to see what's in store for Izzie's when Grey's Anatomy returns in the Fall.

Katherine Takes a Break From Talking to Help House Hunt

Katherine Heigl took a break from her life of backyard bikini leisure to house hunt with TR Knight and his boyfriend in LA yesterday. The BFFs will be back at work soon and after the past few weeks it sounds like Katherine can use all the friends she can get on set. While TR has stayed quiet about the controversy, of course, her husband is happy to stick up for his girl. Aww. Thankfully for Katherine, the actual nominations will be out in a few short weeks, July 17, which will probably take some of the attention off her. That being said, her show is in the top 10 finalists, which the Academy revealed for the first time ever. Now, I just wonder how Katherine will manage to put her foot in her mouth watching how everything pans out with this impending actors' strike?
