Jude Law Picks Parnassus Over Blueberry Nights

The last time we spotted Jude Law, he was living the good life down in the Florida Keys, but it was back to business for the actor in Vancouver yesterday. He's getting ready to start filming The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus to help finish Heath's role that sadly got cut short. He's also got his new film My Blueberry Nights hitting theaters in limited release tomorrow, but Jude skipped the NYC screening last night. Sounds like he's committed to honoring his lost friend, even if it means making a few sacrifices.

Heath Ledger Burns Our Eyes

Well folks, it might be time to decide once and for all that Heath Ledger has absolutely no fashion sense. He got all layered up in his favorite fingerless gloves, purple hat and hideous sneakers but this time he added some atrocious knee-high socks on the set of The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus in London on Sunday. We're hoping this is a rehearsal of some sort since he is in his own clothes and reading papers so maybe he'll have to shave and shower before shooting actually starts. That would be a makeover to look forward to seeing.

Johnny Depp Steps Out to Appreciate Art

Johnny Depp has been laying low as usual recently, but he smiled and posed at Frank Pictures Gallery where the work of artists Kellisimone Waits and Tiffany Trenda was being shown in Santa Monica on Sunday. Kellisimone's father, Tom Waits, is a friend of Johnny's and a costar in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Johnny hit the stage to accept an award and hand one out to Keith Richards at last month's Scream Awards, but otherwise Depp's been hard at work on a handful of movies including the anticipated Alice in Wonderland - check out the awesome new poster for it here! He's also rumored to be taking on a new role in The Tourist that comes with a sexy costar, Angelina Jolie. No matter what Johnny's up to, he always keeps it interesting from his movie choices to his signature style.

Johnny Depp was decked out in plaid as he arrived at the Nice airport earlier today with the singer Patti Smith. He brought along his guitar and a coffee, looking ready to switch from movie to music mode. Johnny's enjoying a little well-earned time off, after spending the last few months appearing at Comic-Con and promoting Public Enemies. He has more chill time ahead before The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus hits screens on Christmas.

Last week we got a glimpse of how hot he looked riding around in a red sports car on set and any peek at Johnny is good news to us. It's hard to believe almost a year has gone by since Heath Ledger's tragic passing, but next Thursday will be the one-year anniversary of his death. He's already been honored with a few posthumous awards, including a Golden Globe, and with Oscar nominations less than a week away, the buzz around Heath's performance in The Dark Knight is as loud as ever. To continue honoring and celebrating his memory, Entertainment Weekly made Heath its cover story with quotes and highlights about his life from the people that worked closely with the actor and grew to know and love him over the years. Biggest Headlines of 2008: RIP Heath Ledger

We've been counting down the most shocking headlines of 2008, and we'll be revealing more throughout the month of December. We hope you enjoy this look back at some of the posts and stories that created the most buzz throughout the year.

On January 22, 2008 we all learned a lesson about the tragic side of fame when we learned Heath Ledger had passed away of an apparent overdose that morning. As fans old and new alike tried to make sense of it and scramble for bits of information, the heartbreaking truth set in: we had lost one of the greatest actors of our time. He was a father, a son, a partner. He was known as a devoted actor and a kind person. He is still missed, he will be missed.

By the end of the 22nd, the details were still unknown but there were many theories being floated - some about Mary-Kate Olsen, though her involvement was never confirmed and the investigation is closed. His death was ruled an accident. A lethal combination of prescription drugs was found in his body.

His friends and colleagues in Hollywood had only kind words and family released a statement saying: "Heath has touched so many people on so many different levels during his short life but few had the pleasure of truly knowing him. He was a down to earth, generous, kind-hearted, life-loving and selfless individual who was extremely inspirational to many."

Michelle released a heartbreaking statement saying, "My heart is broken. I am the mother of the most tender-hearted, high-spirited, beautiful little girl who is the spitting image of her father." In early February, Michelle joined Heath's family and loved ones for a beautiful celebration of his life and memorial service in Australia. It was the first most beautiful smile we saw on Michelle's face since the tragic loss.

We took a look back on his life through classic images and his fans - whether their favorite of his movies was 10 Things I Hate About You or Brokeback Mountain - reminisced about their favorite moments through tributes. There were hundreds of reasons, explanations and theories about why he passed away, but in the end the truth was just that he was gone too soon.

As the cold began to thaw in New York, we saw Michelle and Matilda emerge in Brooklyn for their happy walks and Michelle's carefully and radiantly stepped back onto the red carpet. In his hometown a theater was named in his honor, as was the scholarship set up in his name with Michelle making the first contribution.

In mid-July, The Dark Knight hit theaters to immense praise and broke box office record after box office record making upwards of $400 million already. It is slated for rerelease in early January 2009. Easily the most beloved movie of the Summer and perhaps best superhero movie of all time crowds gathered to see it again and again, constantly in awe of Heath's incredible performance.

The investigation into his death officially ended in early August, and in September his family chose to leave his estate to Matilda. Fellow actors Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell, the actors who took over Heath Ledger's role in his final movie The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus are donating their profits to Matilda.

Through his memorable performances especially The Dark Knight an Oscar contender, Heath's memory will not be forgotten. Michelle's grief breaks our hearts, but his beautiful mini me continues to grow and smile helping Heath's legacy live on.

Matilda Gets Some Love From Heath's Imaginarium

Matilda and Michelle Williams were scootin' right along this weekend with some playtime in Brooklyn. Their day-to-day seems to be getting easier as Michelle moves on with Spike Jonze and Matilda continues to be surrounded by loved ones. On top of an excellent support system, Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell, the actors who took over Heath Ledger's role in his final movie The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, are kindly donating their profits to little Matilda. This heartwarming gesture makes us more excited to hear more about Heath's final project.

Still Mourning Heath Ledger

We are still in shock from today's sad news that Heath Ledger was found dead in a NYC apartment by a housekeeper. Heath was just in London this past weekend filming The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus - the status of the film remains unknown. The latest news is:

TMZ reports Heath's family is saying his death was accidental and not a suicide. TMZ also claims Heath had pneumonia when he died.
As we reported earlier, Michelle is currently on a plane. She is headed to NYC right now and is completely "devastated."

An autopsy is scheduled to be performed tomorrow afternoon to reveal more details on Heath's health and cause of death.
People reports Hollywood is expressing their sadness and they have quotes from fellow Aussie's Mel Gibson and Nicole Kidman and the producer of Brokeback Mountain who said, "Heath Ledger was a courageous actor, and a great soul. He gave us the gift of sharing his fearless and beautiful love – of his craft, and of all who worked with him – for which all of us will be eternally grateful."
