Box Office: At the Top Is Where the Wild Things Are

Where the Wild Things Are lived up to its big expectations, taking the top spot at the box office this weekend with $32.4 million.

Audiences disregarded Law Abiding Citizen's less than stellar reviews (including my own), and the film took second place and raked in $21.2 million. Paranomal Activity continues to soar, climbing up to number three and making $20.1 million. Couples Retreat slid down from number 1 to 4 with $17.9 million, and The Stepfather rounded out the top 5 with $12.3 million.

What Movie Will You Check Out at the Theaters This Weekend?

It's a big weekend at the box office, and it seems like there's an option to fit every taste. There's action of Law Abiding Citizen, while The Stepfather offers a scare. New York, I Love You is star-studded but a little disjointed, and Where the Wild Things Are brings the children's classic to the screen memorably. So, tell us - which movie will you check out this weekend?

Watch, Pass, or Rent: The Stepfather

I haven't been wowed by the promos for The Stepfather, but it does have Gossip Girl's Penn Badgley in it, so maybe I can be persuaded to go see it on Friday.

Based on the 1987 original, the film follows Michael (Badgley), a son who returns home from military school to meet his mom's new boyfriend, David (Nip/Tuck's Dylan Walsh). But once a neighbor suggests that his stepfather looks like a suspect on America's Most Wanted, Michael gets suspicious that the guy is not as nice as he seems [cue creepy music].

While The Stepfather doesn't look scary-movie-bracket-worthy, the scene in the trailer where David drops a chainsaw on Michael's girlfriend did make me jolt. Maybe I'll go see it if I'm in the mood for a fright, but otherwise, I think I'll pass.

Penn's Stepfather Brings Out a Very Gossip-y Crew

Penn Badgley had almost the whole cast of Gossip Girl out to support him at last night's premiere of his new movie, The Stepfather in NYC. Not only was his girlfriend Blake Lively out and looking sexy in leather pants, but Chace Crawford, Taylor Momsen, Ed Westwick and Jessica Szohr all hit the red carpet. While they were taking in Penn's horror film moment, they were all on the small screen for an especially dramatic episode of their show - check out the top WTF moments of the night on Buzz. The Lily-Rufus wedding day meant tons of gorgeous gowns - get the looks here - as well as the usual fashion, decor, beauty and gadgets that make up the show we love.

Dylan Walsh to Play Penn Badgley's Stepfather

Don't those three make such a gorgeous family?
A whole bunch of people I like - Dylan Walsh of Nip/Tuck, Penn Badgley of Gossip Girl, Sela Ward of Once and Again, and possibly Adrianne Palicki of Friday Night Lights - have teamed up for a remake of the 1987 thriller The Stepfather.

Too bad their family is totally dysfunctional.
The story centers on a teenager (Badgley) who begins to suspect that his soon-to-be stepfather (Walsh) may be a psycho murderer who killed his previous family. Ward will play the mother; Palicki, who is still in negotiations, would play Badgley's character's girlfriend.

Will it be spooky?
I haven't seen the original, but Variety reports that this remake will be done in the style of a Hitchcock thriller.

Fun fact about the first Stepfather:
The role of the crazy stepfather was originated by Terry O'Quinn, now of Lost fame. He also reprised the role in a 1989 sequel, imaginatively titled Stepfather II.

Josh Hutcherson and Vanessa Hudgens Take a Fantastic Voyage in the Trailer For Journey 2: The Mysterious Island

In Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, the sequel to Journey to the Center of the Earth, Josh Hutcherson is back in the starring role as adventurer Sean Anderson, a young man on an exciting trip of epic proportions. The mission at hand? To find Sean's grandfather Alexander (Michael Caine), a famed explorer who went missing during his journey for Mysterious Island, a place that may be linked to the lost city of Atlantis. To round out the crew of this quest, Sean and his stepfather (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) enlist the help of two tour guides (Luis Guzman and Vanessa Hudgens). After some hijinks and a crazy helicopter crash, the four arrive at Mysterious Island, a fairly utopian and Avatar-looking spot that is also full of dark jungles and terrifying creatures.

While Journey 2: The Mysterious Island looks like a sweet and silly movie, it's definitely geared toward kids. However, I'm down to follow Hutcherson just about anywhere, since I can only think of him as Peeta (his role in the upcoming The Hunger Games). Joseph Morgan on Immortals and Why He's Pushing For Klaus to Get a Love Interest on The Vampire Diaries

Joseph Morgan has been terrorizing this season of The Vampire Diaries as Klaus, a vampire/werewolf hybrid with many decades of scheming and torture in his past. He's been a delight to watch on TV, but he's also making an appearance on the big screen this week in the 3D epic Immortals, alongside Henry Cavill (aka the next Superman) and Kellan Lutz. I chatted with Morgan this week to talk about his new film and how he feels about playing Klaus - and why he thinks it's time for his big bad villain to fall in love.

BuzzSugar: How has it been being the big villain of the season?
Joseph Morgan: It's been very, very fun; I enjoy my job immensely. I've been asked a few times, "what other character would you like to play?", and I just think I get the best stuff to do, or the most fun stuff at least. It's been great, but I feel like I've always wanted to play a character like this. When I read for the part, I got through the pages I had to read, and I looked at them like "Oh yeah, I know exactly how I want to do this." I guess because I'm a fan of the genre, [I was] subconsciously preparing for a role like this for a while, you know? It's an immense amount of fun and I get to push a lot of buttons with the other characters on set, which is always fun. And to play someone who really isn't worried about anything - there isn't any real threat to him most of the time - it's really an interesting challenge.

Buzz: The characters are trying to kill Klaus, so do you get panicked that the next script may have your death in it?
JM: Yeah, there's a little bit of that going on! Certainly, at the end of last season when I read the penultimate episode, all the way through they're talking about this plot to kill me, and I thought, what if I turn this page and that is what happens? But I trust them; if it's the end of the line, they're going to do it epically and it's going to be in keeping with the quality and the style they already put out. So I'm really not worried. I feel like if Klaus is going to die it's going to be the biggest dramatic death we've seen so far. There's some merit in that as well. But I do worry a little bit. I'm very, very happy to be a part of the show and I do feel like there's more that could be explored with this character.

Buzz: Would you ever want Klaus to get a love interest?
JM: Oh, man I hope so. I've been pushing them for ages. There's a certain amount of humanity they're bringing to the character now, which is really great, because people are starting to empathize with him, and really understand the dysfunctional background he comes from. But there's a side of a person that you only get to see when they're with someone they care about. And I think that's the side we're missing with Klaus. I think it would be wonderful if they were to introduce some sort of love interest for him. I'm confident if they think that's where we need to go, that's what will happen. I certainly keep nagging Julie Plec [The Vampire Diaries executive producer] about it.

The Highs and Lows From Kim and Kris's Reality-TV Wedding

Kim Kardashian said, "I do" last night in front of all her fans, as part two of her wedding special aired on E!. In typical Kardashian fashion, the event was over the top, and it even looked like there were multiple brides at the altar, as all Kim's sisters were decked out in bridal white. Even so, Kim stole the show as Bruce Jenner walked her down the black and white aisle. Her custom Vera Wang gown and dripping-with-diamonds headpiece guaranteed that all eyes would be on Kim. As they exchanged vows in reality TV's version of the royal wedding, Kim, Kris, all the extended Kardashian family couldn't hold back huge smiles. Watch them become Mr. and Mrs. Kris Humphries in the clip below.

But, if the big day were a choreographed production, we saw some raw emotions from Kim on the night of the rehearsal dinner. After seeing her brother Rob all dressed up in a suit, Kim was reminded of her late father. Back at her house, Kim broke down with her stepfather Bruce, saying she would be less stressed if her father were around. Bruce reminded her that all the material details of the wedding weren't important and that her father would be proud of her, and Bruce assured her that he'd help her get through it. First Look: Secret Burial on Desperate Housewives Season Eight Premiere

Some crazy things have gone down on Wisteria Lane over the years - plane crashes, fake pregnancies, neighbors trying to poison one another - but the primetime soap upped the ante in the season seven finale, which saw the ladies of the lane helping Carlos (Ricardo Chavira) cover up his murder of Gabby's (Eva Longoria) abusive stepfather. In these first pictures from the eighth season, it looks like things will pick up right where they left off. There are lots of tears, as the guilty-looking gals and Carlos meet up under the cover of darkness for what looks like a secretive burial of the body. Check 'em out as we all wait for the show to return on Sept. 25.
