With the Oscars only a couple of weeks away, we've got a few predictions, and it looks like certain people (go Christopher Plummer, go!) might be sweeping this award season. There are many actors who have pulled off this feat in the past, so if you're curious to see the talented people who took home the Golden Globe, the SAG, and the Oscar for their work, just take a look at this list of triple winners (and you can check out the ladies here).

George and Brad Light Up an Entertaining Palm Springs Film Festival

Brad Pitt and George Clooney were just two of the stars honored at last night's Palm Springs Film Festival award gala. George gushed about Brad when he accepted his Chairman's statue, but he had Stacy Keibler on his arm to kick off a long season of red carpets. We should be seeing a lot more of her this week when the Critics Choice and Golden Globes ceremonies come along. Brad is walking with a cane these days after an accident while carrying his daughter Vivienne. His latest accessory made him look all the more dapper as he and an Elie Saab-clad Angelina Jolie posed for photos together. On stage, Brad turned his thanks to his "lover" Jonah Hill instead. Michelle Williams, who debuted a new hair color at the event, joked that she was "this close" to a career as a porn star instead of an actress receiving honors for her work in My Week With Marilyn.

Sandra Bullock Goes Sleek and Shiny For Her Premiere With Tom Hanks

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close stars Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock teamed up in NYC last night for their premiere at the Ziegfeld Theatre. They posed on the red carpet with their young leading man, Thomas Horn, before hitting the press line. Sandra's been talking up Thomas's exceptional acting all week, including yesterday on the Today show, telling Matt Lauer, "He might only be 13, 14, but he's far more educated, wiser, kind, empathetic than most adults in this room."

Sandra wore an Alexander McQueen pantsuit and sported a sleek-haired look. The role in the 9/11 film is Sandra's first since winning an Oscar for The Blind Side in 2010. Memories of the attacks are still raw for the actress, and Sandra shared her experiences from 9/11 recently. Sandra said, "I was here. I saw it. I saw the second plane. I saw people falling. It's never left. I think if you're here in New York and you saw and you felt and you heard, it doesn't leave. I mean you can sort of quiet it, but you hear a sound, you see an image, you look up at the clear blue sky and see a beautiful building. It doesn't go anywhere."

First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden started this effort to bring attention, support, and aid to the families of the men and women serving in the US military. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close Trailer: Get Your Tissues Ready

If The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is the "feel bad movie of Christmas," then Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close may be the "feel sad movie" of the holiday. Based on the best-selling novel by Jonathan Safran Foer, the film follows a bright young boy named Oskar (Thomas Horn) who sets out on a quest to find the lock that matches a key left behind by his father (Tom Hanks), who died in 9/11.

If the premise itself doesn't sound weepy enough for you, add in images of people of all different ages and races, images of Sandra Bullock crying, and a U2 song to set the mood. The trailer makes the film seem almost generic in the way it seems to be making a statement about embracing life and love, but I'm going to overlook that for the stellar cast and original story.

Nearly five years after Charlie Wilson's War, Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts reunite on the big screen with the romantic comedy Larry Crowne. The A-listers play an unlikely pair who get a second chance at love in the sweet film, which Hanks not only cowrote, but directed and starred in, too. We had a chance to sit down with the charming duo at the recent press day for the movie in Beverly Hills, where they talked trading stories about their kids and schooling a new generation of actors on the set. Tom Hanks stars in Larry Crowne this weekend, bringing his iconic charm to a role of a middle-aged man going back to college. When we talked about our favorite Tom Hanks movies, I couldn't stop thinking about how much I loved him in 1990's Joe Versus the Volcano. As Joe Banks, he's a working stiff who gets a brief taste of luxury when he agrees to jump in the volcano of a tropical island (if you've never seen it, stop reading this and rent it). When he gets stuck on his floating luggage en route to the island and starts to get a little loopy from dehydration, Joe pulls out a goofy dance that's one of my favorite Hanks moments ever.

Larry Crowne: A Swing and a Miss For Tom Hanks

Could the superstar combination of Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts be anything less than magic? Well, yes. Larry Crowne reteams the actors in a romantic comedy, which incidentally is not very romantic, and not really that funny, either. I was ready to embrace any project that has Hanks as star, writer, and director, but sadly, Larry Crowne just isn't very good.

Hanks plays Larry, a happy employee of a big box chain store who finds himself fired due to his lack of college education. He downsizes his life, selling his home and car, and then signs up to be a full-time student at the local community college to safeguard the future of his career. At school, he takes the class of Mercedes Tainot (Roberts), a bored speech professor disillusioned with her job and marriage. Over the course of a semester, Larry makes new friends, becomes a scooter enthusiast, and falls for his lovely teacher. That description sounds delightful, but Larry Crowne falls so short in story, dialogue, and character development that it just comes off as a half-baked vanity project for Hanks. read more. The movie's humor ranges from stale to nonexistent. There's some potential in supporting characters like Wilmer Valderrama and a couple of Larry's classmates, but no one really gets enough of an opportunity to shine. The spotlight is on Hanks and Roberts, but in Larry's case, his only chance is in his contrived "quirky" mannerisms and catchphrases (stop trying to make "spectac-u-lar" happen, Larry. It's not going to happen). Meanwhile, Mercedes's constant sourpuss rarely gives way to Roberts's million-dollar grin, and she's little more than a depressed woman with a minor drinking problem. The sluggish story somehow manages to give birth to a relationship between Larry and Mercedes, but it's a completely undeveloped romance. There is hardly any flirtation before the first kiss, and when that kiss does come, it's about as hot as an icebox. The other relationships are equally unbelievable; there's an unrealistic friendship between Larry and a school friend, Talia (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), and we're supposed to buy that Larry and his speech classmates have bonded by the time the term ends, but those connections just aren't there either. Without enough comedy or charm to keep it afloat, Larry Crowne is boring. It's hard to dislike anything that so often features Hanks's smiling face, but you can't rely solely on a bankable actor if the rest of the film doesn't cut it.

Tom Hanks plays director, screenwriter, and star of this week's comedy Larry Crowne, and I fully support him doing as many jobs as he can find, because I'm kind of obsessed with him. As a kid, I fell for him in movies like Big and Joe Versus the Volcano, and as the years went on, Hanks just kept making great movies that I loved.

Be they drama (Forrest Gump) or comedy (You've Got Mail), the films of Tom Hanks always make me happy. Even when you can't see him (a la Toy Story), just hearing that distinctive voice and laugh pick me up. Are you a big Hanks fan too? If so, tell me your favorite movies of his in the comments!
