Kids Explore the Arts With a Little Help From John Mayer

John Mayer suited up and grabbed his guitar to perform at Susan and Tony Bennett's Exploring the Arts Gala, a fundraiser for school music programs, in NYC last night. Whoopi Goldberg played hostess for the evening and immediately pegged John as her new crush after his performance. John's Summer tour may be over, but he was happy to participate in the charity event, saying,"There's 12-year-old John Coltranes and Miles Davises walking around. They just don't know it yet." Sounds like John is ready to embrace some competition from the talented up-and-comers.

Musicians Make Merry After the Grammys

It may have been a looong Grammy Awards, but it was only more reason to keep the party going after the show ended. The stars got to mix and mingle with their fellow musicians at the Sony BMG Party, making for some predictable (and a few unlikely) pairings. Nicole and Joel were looking a little worn out, while Beyonce was practically glowing in yellow next to John Mayer, making her fourth outfit change of the night. Which B outfit was your favorite? Also, is it just us, or did John look a little too pretty-boy last night? Carrie Underwood naturally gravitated toward country star Brad Paisley, while Jay-Z looked absolutely thrilled to be posing with Chris Daughtry. We just wish we could eavesdrop on a few of their conversations, although something tell us that Amy Winehouse's performance was a hot topic across the board.

It Was A Very Well-Rounded Emmy Show

Ryan Seacrest put his best hosting face forward at last night's Emmy Awards, but it was the round stage that really stole the show. The concept was cool, but it definitely made for some awkward moments, right? The Rainn Wilson/Kanye West version of Don't Forget The Lyrics was a highlight, along with Steve Carell "stealing" Ricky Gervais' Emmy. Dempsey = McDreamier than ever, yes? Christina/Tony also did a great job at a show that was obviously paying homage to Bennett in a lot of ways (icymi, check out the performance here). Hopefully the Jersey Boys tribute to The Sopranos made Tony Soprano Proud. Check out Buzz's take on the big show, but what did you think about it? Highlights? Lowlights? Did Seacrest make you laugh?

Even The Emmys Have A Few Surprises

The Emmys isn't usually the most thrilling award show, but this year a few surprises made us really take notice. While nobody was shocked to see The Sopranos take home the big prize, we didn't expect the show's cast to get shut out in every other category. 30 Rock definitely caught our attention by snagging the best comedy category, and we were so excited to see America take home an Emmy. The biggest upset of the night had to have been James Spader beating out some of our favorite actors like Masi Oka and James Gandolfini. What was up with that? Christina & Tony Bennett's Emmy Performance - Love It Or Leave It?

Christina Aguilera and Tony Bennett performed "Steppin' Out With My Baby" side by side at the Emmys tonight and just exuded old school lounge singer glamor. While it was certainly beautiful and these two have amazing voices, the performance wasn't totally exciting. Maybe pregnant Christina is taking it easy with the dancing these days. George Goes for Sexiest Man Alive

George joined Bruce Willis along with J. Lo and Marc last night at Tony Bennett's birthday party in Hollywood and was looking as dapper as ever. We think he may be going for People's Sexiest Man of the Year award again this year. George and Brad always joke that Matt Damon should win the title and we couldn't agree more, but George is still always a good contender for a repeat title. Tony Bennett Lives Up to His Reputation

As promised, here are more pics from Tony Bennett's 80th Birthday bash last night in Hollywood. Kelly Clarkson, Stevie Wonder, Marc Anthony and the legend himself all performed. Tons of stars came out to support the famous singer, and Tony supports them right back. Recently the singing legend appeared on The X Factor (the UK version of American Idol) and found that he didn't agree with the way the artists on the show were being treated. He said,

“I’m a little disturbed that the businessmen are making a fortune, but after the first record, they drop the artist and go with the next. It’s not fair because the artists all have such good potential. They all have the possibility of really becoming good performers if they just had the place they could break into and learn how to do it properly.”

The Men's US Open Ends With a Star-Studded Bang

The US Open drew to a close last night with a dramatic match in which Juan Martin Del Potro defeated Roger Federer as another celebrity-filled audience looked on. There were a lot of loyal tennis fans around like the Stefani-Rossdales, who looked sad after their friend's loss, and the Olsen twins, who sat together this time around. Bruce Willis brought his young wife Emma, and Anna Wintour came by again after taking home a tennis ball over the weekend. She had to slip out a few minutes early, however, to make it to Marc Jacobs's show on time. The manjoyment factor was high in the stands with hotties Jake Gyllenhaal, Gerard Butler, and Josh Hartnett as everyone enjoyed the intense men's final.

Celebrities Celebrate Art

LA is so much more than Disneyland and Hollywood studios. Last night the city of the stars celebrated the opening of The Broad Contemporary Art Museum at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. An A-list crowd including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tony Bennett, Dustin Hoffman and of course The Cruises showed their support. Katie looked beautiful even if we're not loving the scarf while Tom looked perfectly put together in his three piece suit. Christina continued to show off her curves in a bold blue dress while playing it up for the cameras.

Joel Madden kept things rock and roll while Nicole looked elegant, well rested and calm in her soft taupe colored dress. They came to cheer on Grandpa Lionel Richie who was part of the evening's entertainment but they didn't stay long since they went on to Clive Davis' Pre-Grammy party.
