Malin Akerman and Jenna Fischer Debut Their Giant Mechanical Man at Tribeca

The Tribeca Film Festival continued last night with the premiere of Malin Akerman and Jenna Fischer's The Giant Mechanical Man. Jenna was joined at the event by the film's director and her husband, Lee Kirk, while Malin walked the red carpet in a sexy strapless dress and Carven shoes before meeting up with her handsome costars Topher Grace, Chris Messina, and Rich Sommer.

This project is just one of the many movies Malin stars in this year. She shared hilarious scenes with Jennifer Aniston in Wanderlust, and up next she's showing off her vocal abilities in Rock of Ages. Malin's not the only cast member with a major studio film in the works as both Chris and Topher have highly anticipated films headed our way this Fall. Chris has a role in Ben Affleck's CIA thriller Argo, and Topher teamed up with Amanda Seyfried and Katherine Heigl in The Wedding, both films are expected to open nationwide in October.

Jon Hamm Tries His Hand at a Star-Studded Game of Hollywood Dominoes

Jon Hamm joined the fun at last night's Hollywood Dominoes fundraiser. The organization's fifth annual gala, held at LA's Sunset Tower Hotel, brought out stars like Edward Norton, Ali Larter, Sophia Bush, and Ben Stiller. LeAnn Rimes wore a revealing Tom Ford dress on the carpet, looking happy to pose for photos. The evening was organized to benefit Paul Haggis's Artists For Peace and Justice organization. Jon apparently ended up the night's big winner, and became the proud owner of a brand new watch. It's a highlight during a busy period for Jon. His Mad Men will be back on AMC on March 25 - check out the new Mad Men promos. He's also got Friends With Kids, a movie written, directed by, and starring his real-life girlfriend Jennifer Westfeldt, opening on March 9.

Stephen Moyer and Topher Grace might play adversaries in their new spy thriller The Double, but when we talked to them at a recent press day for the movie, the guys were in a friendly - and funny - mood. The duo even showed off a little bit of the Russian they learned for their roles as an FBI agent (Topher) and Russian operative (Stephen) and critiqued each others' accents! Stephen and Topher also talked about being intimidated by their costar, Richard Gere, and Topher admitted that his biggest challenge in the film was playing the father of an infant. Richard Gere and Topher Grace Track an Assassin in The Double Trailer

A Russian assassin is on the loose in Washington DC in The Double trailer, and it's up to Paul Shepherdson (Richard Gere) to track him down. Shepherdson, a former CIA operative, has come out of retirement to track down the hitman he spent his entire career chasing down - and he begrudgingly accepts the help of an FBI rookie, Ben Geary (Topher Grace). Throughout much of the trailer, Shepherdson attempts to convince his young partner that the assassin is actually dead, suggesting Geary drop the case if he has any concern for the safety of his young wife and kids. So why is a man who is working the case so eager to abandon it?

That's where The Double trailer starts to give too much away. In what seems to be a major plot spoiler, it reveals that Shepherdson may be the assassin he's been assigned to bring in, and it's a pretty safe bet that Shepherdson is up to some duplicitous, double-agent (ahem, thanks to the film title for tipping us off to that, too) shenanigans in the film. Topher Grace and Joe Manganiello Hotly Hit the Red Carpet Together in LA

Joe Manganiello and Topher Grace teamed up for The Art of Elysium's latest bash at the The Residences at the W in Hollywood last night. Both guys made the party rounds after hitting some other recent LA events - Joe celebrated Ryan Reynolds's Details cover on Monday night while Topher joined rumored girlfriend Camilla Belle at the Young Hollywood Awards two weeks ago. Topher is gearing up for the October release of The Double and prepping to play roles in Gently Down the Stream opposite Amanda Seyfriend and Keep Coming Back with Milla Jovovich. Joe, meanwhile, has his upcoming wedding to fiancée Audra Marie to plan for. That excitement comes in the midst of anticipation for the season four debut of True Blood, with the premiere set to air on HBO Sunday, June 26.

Hollywood's up-and-coming talent came together Friday night at LA's Club Nokia for the 13th annual Young Hollywood Awards. The new face of Miu Miu, Hailee Steinfeld, stepped out in a black and white ensemble from the brand to accept the breakthrough of the year honor from her True Grit costar Jeff Bridges. More statues went out to Style Icon Camilla Belle, in a Tom Ford suit, and Star of Tomorrow Armie Hammer, who caught up with his hilarious Parks and Recreation star pal Aziz Ansari. Camilla stuck close by her supposed real-life leading man, Topher Grace. Grey's Anatomy's Jesse Williams was crowned TV actor of the year, while Elle Fanning had her Somewhere director Sofia Coppola's dad, Francis, on hand to witness her film actress of the year honor. Garrett Hedlund had Midnight in Paris star Michael Sheen on hand to pass on the film actor of the year distinction, and the awardees kept the good times rolling afterward with a party. The whole show airs Thursday night on the ION channel.

Take Me Home Tonight: Not the Party of the Decade

Most movies try to show you something you've never seen before, but Take Me Home Tonight aims to do just the opposite. Set in 1988, the objective of the comedy is to capitalize on the trends of the decade, poke fun at the style, and pay homage to the films that defined a generation. Unfortunately, it gets so bogged down in piling on the clichés that it comes off as a forgettable knockoff of a John Hughes movie.

The movie takes place over one long night as Matt (Topher Grace) sets out for one purpose: to obtain the phone number of his high school crush, Tori (Teresa Palmer). A recent MIT grad, brainy Matt is unsure what to do with his life and ends up living in his parents' house and working at the local video store. There, he bumps into Tori for the first time in years and fabricates a fancy job at Goldman Sachs to impress her. When he learns that she'll be attending a rager that night, he enlists the help of his twin sister Wendy (Anna Faris) and best friend Barry (Dan Fogler) to keep his charade going.

Matt's pursuit of Tori plays out in a predictable but sweet way. Grace has the bumbling-but-endearing routine down cold, and it's easy to root for him as he gives Palmer longing looks and cracks cringe-worthy jokes in her presence. Palmer is equally likable; she's part girl-next-door, part bombshell, but Palmer succeeds at giving Tori a little more depth than just a nerd's high school fantasy girl.

Matt's got a few extra layers too; though all he can think about in the short-term is winning Tori over, the movie is ultimately about his inability to figure out the next stop of his life. Unfortunately, the theme holds the comedy back from being a light, entertaining, party flick. Wendy's story line mostly revolves around her struggle to decide if she should dump her boyfriend (Chris Pratt), a party boy with a popped collar who wants to turn her into a housewife. Though I liked seeing Faris playing it straight, her scenes with real-life husband Pratt aren't funny and drag down the film.

The '80s throwbacks are fun at first, as Matt and Barry head into the party to the tune of classic hits from the decade (including the "Safety Dance"), surrounded by girls with big hair and neon leggings. After that, it starts to go downhill: Barry's adventure with coke might have been representative of the time, but it only leads to absurdly unrealistic gags that try to push the envelope and instead fall flat.

It would have been wise to keep the film focused on Matt and Tori, but unfortunately the filmmakers try way too hard to make Take Me Home Tonight the perfect blend of coming-of-age film and raucous comedy. In the end, we're left with a half-baked love story that only delivers a handful of laughs.
