I couldn't care less if Sarah Palin's 17 year old daughter is pregnant - that doesn't tell me if Ms. Palin is qualified for the job or not. Leave the family out of the race!

I don't necessarily think that getting married at 17 is the wisest choice she could make. I wonder how much of a choice she was actually given?

Obama said. "I think people's families are off-limits, and people's children are especially off-limits. This shouldn't be part of our politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin's performance as governor or her potential performance as a vice president."

i agree families should be off limits, but this will never happen especially with all this juicy gossip with the teenage pregnancy and under aged drinking, the media is going to run with it, as are celebrities rags look at diddy, obama can certainly use this to his advantage being the good guy to win more votes, every other commercial break brings up the fact that the vp daughter pregnant at 17 and unwed

Glad to see that those abstinence only programs paying off. The fact that Palin supports abstinence-only programs in schools, and her 17 year old is knocked up makes her daughter's pregnancy relevant.

I seriously don't know what McCain was thinking with this one. He should have just stood up to all those damn evangelicals and nominated Lieberman like he wanted to. Heaven forbid the political middle of this country gets some representation in an election.

I agree with Jenna - if the shoe were on the other foot would they be so quick to ignore it. We all know the answer.

Personally I can't wait to see what comes of Troopergate. I wonder why they picked someone with so many issues -- just to solidify the base and to get the woman vote. (??) Weren't there some other - better woman candidates?

I couldn't care less if Sarah Palin's daughter is pregnant. Life happens. And believe it or not, a 17 y.o. can ever decide on her own to keep the baby. My sister did, and nobody held a gun to her head.

Between Madonna's Hitler montage, strategically placed "rumors" that Palin faked her pregnancy, and equally as strategically placed insinuations that Obama is a Muslim extremest, I feel manipulated by both sides. And it's not a good feeling.

    * Sarah Palin confirmed her 17-year-old daughter Bristol is five months pregnant and marrying the father of her child. — CitizenSugar ***
*** So? What's the big? Has there NEVER been the child of a politician to screw up? Now, if the story of her having the baby and Palin claiming it was hers was true, that would be a different story, but it isn't. A 17 year old got pregnant! OMG! Is it ideal? No (ALA Jamie Lynn) but can it work? Absolutely. It's not a reason to ridicule someone. From what I've been reading, this girl has had many many issues through the years.

    * David Duchovny's sex addiction is rumored be about porn and not an extramarital affair. His wife, Tea Leoni, has canceled her appearance at the Toronto Film Festival.
***I still think it's a publicity stunt, but now my conviction on that is faltering a bit. If it was publicity, why would she cancel her trip?

    * A man has been arrested in London after attempting to sell intimate photographs of Prince William and Kate Middleton from a camera he says he found but is believed to have been stolen.
    ***And I care because?

    * James Gandolfini married Deborah Lin on Saturday at Central Union Church in Honolulu.
***Cool, I love him. I miss my Soprano's. Sad

    * Don LaFontaine, the main voiceover man in Hollywood, died yesterday in Cedars-Sinai hospital following complications from a collapsed lung.
***Awww, sad. No more "In a world..."

    * Amy Winehouse might suffer from brain damage after having two major drug overdoses in the past year. She is also facing legal action after canceling her appearance at a French music festival two hours before she was scheduled to perform.
**I'm shocked! I always though Amy was the picture of health!

Experience and qualification was something McCain actually had going for him ... then he goes and picks a ridiculously unqualified, inexperienced VP. It's so strange...

But I'm more concerned about this Troopergate thing and her relationship with BIG OIL. It brings up issues about how exactly she's using the power of her office and ethics and what not. Maybe McCain should have considered family BEFORE!!!! Back in the 90's McCain had to subsequently apologized to President Clinton, for a joke that the Washington Post said the joke "was too vicious to print." McCain made the joke, “Why is Chelsey Clinton so ugly, because her father is Janet Reno”. So, anyone talking about taking the high road...should hope that your candidate took that road before, but I guess NOT!!!!!

12 years ago I was 17. And I was a child. I shudder to imagine who I'd have wanted to marry back then.

I do agree with you, jkat. It was made very clear that he wanted Lieberman and that 'the party' vetoed that idea quickly. The things I LIKE about McCain are the things that he's been sacrificing to appease his party and that makes me sad. The McCain I would vote for would have chosen the VP he wanted.

It's like -- "She pregnant" (OMG!!!!) -- "But wait she marrying the father" (oh thank goodness - your virtue is saved) -- (???)

Marriage is no joke and shouldn't be enter into lightly. The two people invloved really need the maturity of an adult to handle it. And even then there are no guarantees.

The baby is here fine - but don't compound the situation with another HUGE step. That could just lead to divorce and isn't that one of their big "NO, NO's" too??

This sounds like a shotgun wedding to me.

To me I feel that this will not effect the elections. Sarah is a human like every teenager on this planet that got pregnant. She is not a smart one like all pregnant teenagers, but I feel this should not be a big deal in regards to the elections. As the old saying goes stuff happens. This is just like when Jamie Spears got pregnant. People fussed, judged and hollered over a teenage star getting pregnant.Eventually we all moved on with her pregnancy, so now after everyone has fussed over Sarah lets move on. I realize there is a difference between a political figure's daughter and Jamie Spears, but still Sarah is a human being just like Jamie. Plus she is a normal teenage girl like Jamie that gave into some dudes plea: If you love me you would do it.

It's funny -- out of all the Republicans -- McCain has always been my fav!!! (Since 2000)

I don't recognize this McCain. It's like he'd rather be President by any means neccessary (because it's his last chance) -- I was sure he was going to pick Romney -- that ticket would have wrapped it up (I think).

But this lady has sooo many issues -- and issue that don't jive with what's she done or her beliefs. And nothing about that make her a Maverick.

Palin is everything I'm afraid of. And her running the country scares me.

You know, my sister got pregnant at 17 and ended up marrying the father of her baby. They are still together 27 years later and have two lovely children.

Let's not jump in to judge these two teenagers who are trying to navigate through one of the toughest moments in their young lives. And who knows if they were "forced" into it or not? In my sister's case, she and her husband thought it was the right thing to do, maybe these two kids do, too. I have seen many people who were seemingly "too immature" to handle something jump up to the plate and mature very quickly when situations warranted it. I really am hoping that happens here!

I just feel so bad that they are being chewed up and spit out by every media outlet in the country.

Dream, I couldn't agree more about the pregnancy. One of my girlfriends got pregnant in HS. Out of a sense of obligation, the father asked her to marry him. She was head over heels for him, always has been, but to him it was obligation. Now, 19 years and 10 kids later she just found out he's been having an affair since day 1. She's devastated. Tell me how that's better than her having raised the child with her parents support (Which they gave her unfailingly?)? It's not.

Sometimes NOT getting married is the smart thing to do.

I care absolutely nothing about the daughter's pregnancy. It's too bad abstinence education didn't work for Palin's family, but then again, there aren't great statistics on abstinence education. I imagine the daughter does want to get married but just like in real life, this marriage might end in divorce which is also none of our business. My concerns with Palin are her very rightwing views (obviously only because they conflict with my moderate views) and I don't see how she helps the ticket. I have every respect for her for the record she does hold and I'm sure she's a great mom. I just don't see how she's the best choice for VP.

i think that the Palin's are taking this all in stride and that they are doing what they can to make things work out for them. it's interesting to hear all the reports on this - and well - mccain knew about it before he picked her - and that's all you can say about that.

i'm thrilled that TT took the #1 spot again this weekend. it was a hysterical movie and i think that it deserves to have more sucecsses!

i had a feeling that DD would have that type of situation rather than having an affair. i don't know why - but i kind of got that sense once i heard the story break that it wasn't him cheating.

wow - i can't believe that someone would try to sell pictures of hte prince like that. hmm...i wonder where he 'found' the camera and if the pics got leaked. i'm sure that people would have been too afraid to really buy them and publish them.

i think that it's nice that jude is participating in this - it's not often that you hear of him getting involved

CONGRATS to james - that's wonderful news of his marriage!

aww that's a shame about the voice over guy. his voice was probably one of the most recognizable ones out there

i'm not surprised about amy's situation. i think that it's only a matter of time that your body has until you're faced with the reprocussions of substance abuse - and she seems to have gone overboard a few times. i kind of feel bad for her in a way - cause she didn't seem to want to make the effort to get clean.
