Usher Skips the AMAs and Spends the Weekend With His Boys

Usher and his two sons, Naviyd and Cinco, enjoyed a low-key Saturday afternoon strolling around NYC in the Fall weather. The singer spent Friday afternoon surrounded by friends and entertainers, like Will Smith, Diddy, and Jay-Z, at a memorial service for the late rapper Heavy D. The weekend may have kicked off on a somber note, but last night there was cause for celebration with Usher taking home the favorite male artist award at the AMAs - see the entire list of American Music Awards winners! Usher wasn't on hand to accept the honors, but it's always nice to have a new statue to add to the collection.

The annual Latin Grammys in Las Vegas last night got a dose of star power with appearances from Zoe Saldana, Sofia Vergara, Demi Lovato, Usher, and others. Zoe made a statement in a bold green Elie Saab gown after Gwyneth Paltrow stepped out in a similar dress by the designer yesterday. Sofia and Zoe shared the stage to present an award while Demi took the microphone for a performance with singer Pablo Alboran. Shakira was one of the evening's big winners, since she grabbed the awards for Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Album. She topped off her exciting night by singing "Antes de las Seis" from her Sale El Sol album. Pitbull and Marc Anthony got together for "Rain Over Me" while Usher showed off his Spanish-speaking skills during a duet with Antony Santos. It was Usher's first time at the show, and he celebrated with an "epic" afterparty at Haze nightclub.

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez posed with Usher in Atlanta on Saturday. The musical trio got together backstage during the Georgia Music Hall of Fame Awards, where Justin picked up the Horizon Award and also presented his vocal coach Jan Smith with the Chairman’s Award honor. Justin took the stage to perform as well, and belted out a medley of hits from Jan's former students. Justin and Selena traveled to Georgia to attend the event after being spotted shopping around LA on Friday. Justin even stopped to snap a picture of a young fan with Selena as they made their way to their car. It was just the latest outing for the couple, who also attended the premiere of Abduction last week. Their arrival caused a bit of a scene outside the theater despite Taylor Lautner being the star of the evening.

Anna and Justin joined Brooklyn Decker, Chace Crawford, and Usher yesterday for the brand's Fashion's Night Out bash. The evening had a "passionate duo" theme in celebration of their new lipstick line, and platonic and romantic couples were there aplenty. Justin had his manager, Scooter Braun, on hand while Jeff Gordon had wife Ingrid Vandebosch, Gossip Girl's Kelly Rutherford and Matthew Settle stuck together, and Leann Rimes showed PDA with Eddie Cibrian. Justin stuck around to sign the purchases of a few lucky fans, but later wrote on Twitter, "That place was a zoo!" Justin also shared a photo of himself, Scooter, and Usher, dubbing them the "three musketeers."

While Usher's taking care of business and hanging with family, his protégé, Justin Bieber, is traveling the East Coast with girlfriend Selena Gomez. A whole range of celebrity guests turned out for the Oprah! A Farewell Spectacular in Chicago yesterday. It was a huge event, at the city's United Center, organized to tape the second- and third-to-last episodes of Oprah's long-running TV show that will air on May 23 and 24. The guest list ranged from performers like Alicia Keys and Beyoncé Knowles, singing her new single "Run the World (Girls)."Tom Hanks played host for the first of two hours of taping, and he introduced the show by saying, "Now Oprah, I know you don't like surprises. Let me see if I can put you at ease. There was an English playwright who said there's no surprise more magical than the surprise of being loved, and that is what tonight is all about." The second 60-minute segment was emceed by Will Smith, on a break from shooting Men in Black 3, and Jada Pinkett Smith. Oprah's 12-time guest Tom Cruise stepped onto the stage to the theme-tune from Mission Impossible, saying, "You always had the power [to change lives], and that is the lesson you brought."

Even Maria Shriver turned out despite the scandal brewing over her estranged husband, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and the revelation he fathered a child outside their marriage 10 years ago. Maria made a heartfelt speech to Oprah, thanking her for the gifts of truth and wisdom. There were also 13,000 fans in the audience to see the proceedings - one guy apparently even proposed to his girlfriend before the festivities began! Another celebrity sex tape has surfaced, and this time it's starring exes Usher and Tameka Foster. Every leaked celebrity sex tape has a story, and since this one is being shopped around, it could have been stolen from Usher's car back in 2009. Whether it's worked for their benefit or tarnished their reputation, I still don't understand why celebrities continue to take the risk of creating a sex tape in the first place. But frankly, I'm kind of over them (and I'm not the only one who finds them a joke). And if they aren't tied to a cheating scandal, what's the big deal anyway? What do you think?
