Nicole Kidman and Clive Owen Bring Their Onscreen Chemistry to the Pages of W

Nicole Kidman and Clive Owen strike a serious pose on the cover of W's May issue. They portray a married couple in HBO's Hemingway and Gellhorn, and translated their onscreen chemistry to the publication's pages in the sexy spread, which you can see more of when it hits newsstands April 24. Clive and Nicole spoke with the magazine about playing the historical duo, Ernest Hemingway and Martha Gellhorn, but also opened up about their own significant others. Clive even shared the moment he fell in love with wife Sarah-Jane Fenton, while Nicole got serious about her husband Keith Urban's recent throat surgery. Here's more from Nicole and Clive in W:

Clive on meeting his wife: "After drama school I did a seven-month tour of Europe performing in Romeo and Juliet. I played Romeo. I was at the first rehearsal, thinking, I wonder what Juliet is going to be like, and she came in. She had a corduroy jacket on and was carrying a pile of secondhand books, and her glasses were falling off. I kind of fell in love at that moment."
Nicole on being raw: "My husband says I’m raw. He thinks the world is not a great place for me because he fears that I’ll be hurt. He says, 'That’s my job: I’ll protect you.'"
Nicole on not being able to talk to Keith after his throat surgery: "All of those things make you closer. It was sort of profound: to go without his voice, and then to finally hear his voice. What if he sounded different? I was there for his first words, and then we cried. How many people experience their husband’s first words? If that doesn’t bring you closer, you’re not breathing."

Jessica Biel shows off her sexy side on the cover of W Magazine's April Beauty issue and in the accompanying spread, which was shot by photographer Mikael Jansson. She's gearing up for the Summer release of her Total Recall remake with Kate Beckinsale, but it's her relationship with Justin Timberlake that's currently putting her in the spotlight. Jessica and Justin got engaged over the holidays and we finally got a look at Jessica's engagement ring when she and Justin were spotted out in LA last week. While the couple are keeping quiet on their new engaged status, Jessica opened up to W's editor at large, Lynn Hirschberg, about her good-girl reputation, love of breaking a sweat, and her rebellious phase as a teenager. On her clean image: "I know. I think I need to destroy my reputation. This whole I'm outdoorsy, I'm really healthy - it's too squeaky-clean. That’s going to be my new thing: Go dark and unhealthy. It's time to be very, very bad."
On her fight scenes with Kate Beckinsale in Total Recall: "Kate and I usually fight men in movies, and when you knock into a man, he doesn't care. But every two seconds, Kate and I were saying, 'I'm so sorry - are you okay?' We were both so nervous about fighting another woman. Which is strange, because I have no problem fighting with a guy. In truth, I like doing anything that requires breaking a sweat."
On rebelling in her teens: "I cut my hair supershort and dyed it blonde. I had to apologize to Aaron Spelling for doing that. He wasn’t happy. When I turned 17 or 18, a really obnoxious friend sent a stripper to the set. I had to apologize for that too. The show was all about family values, and they took that position seriously. I was always apologizing."

W Magazine threw a party to celebrate its Best Performances Issue at the Chateau Marmont in LA last night. Brad Pitt and Charlize Theron are featured on two separate covers for the publication, though there are plenty more award season contenders inside the pages. In attendance yesterday were Emma Stone, in Lanvin, Elizabeth Olsen, Rachel Zoe, and more stars who have been making the rounds all week.

One new face on the carpet was Jessica Biel, who had no ring on her finger despite news that she and Justin Timberlake got engaged over the holidays. Jessica didn't stop to chat on her way into the bash, though we did share a few words with The Help's Octavia Spencer and Viola Davis. Octavia talked about almost missing the presentation of the best ensemble cast award at the Critics' Choice Awards, while Viola gave us some insight into how she prepares her speeches. Miranda Kerr also posed for cameras in a bright white dress after stepping out to celebrate her new role with Qantas and her husband Orlando Bloom's birthday this week.

Brad Pitt and Charlize Theron Bring Double the Glamour to W Magazine

Brad Pitt and Charlize Theron grace the cover of two separate W covers this February. Brad got casual in an undone black tie look while Charlize went glamorous in a brightly colored gown and jewels. Both Brad and Charlize are being recognized for their roles in Moneyball and Young Adult, respectively, this award season and have best actor and actress nominations at Sunday's Golden Globe Awards - make sure to fill out your Golden Globes ballot before the big show. In the publication's Best Performances Issue, Brad talks about his experience watching movies while Charlize shares a funny quirk she brought to her big-screen character, Mavis. Brad on crying at films: "I’m not much of a crier at films, but there was one . . . I was coming back from Cabo on my way to Montreal, and I got hit with Montezuma’s revenge. I could not keep anything down. I was stuck in a hotel room with no windows and was just doing what you do when you’re sick. On day two of this extremely painful episode, I watched a film called Life as a House. I don’t know if it would still hit me the same way, but on my 27th hour of pure wretchedness, this movie just crushed me."
Charlize on Mavis wearing bra inserts: "I wear those! If you don’t have boobs, you wear those cutlets. It’s just the most bizarre, unsexy thing there is - so I added that to Mavis."
Brad on whether it's difficult to watch himself die in a movie: "God, no. I’m just checking the boxes. Hit that. Missed that. Hit that moment. Missed that one. God, I’d like to do that one again."

Dakota and Elle Fanning Strike Stylish, Sisterly Poses For W Magazine

Dakota and Elle Fanning cozied up for the December cover of W Magazine. The sisters donned stylish looks and posed for photographer Mario Sorrenti in a glamorous spread that showcases their close connection. It's been a big year for the duo, who are both juggling school and their busy careers. Dakota recently moved on her own to NYC for college and Elle is gearing up for the holiday release of We Bought a Zoo while also attending high school. They opened up about becoming celebrities at such young ages and also touched on the perks of fame. Here's more from Dakota and Elle Fanning in W:

Dakota on being a celebrity at a young age: “It’s all I’ve ever experienced, and it’s what I’m used to. When you’re 6 years old, which is when I started, I think you start forming how you think about things. I’ve dealt with being known for so long that it’s just kind of normal to me. And that attention comes with what I love to do, which is act.”
Elle on being invited to the Chanel show in Paris: “Oh, yes! When I found out that I was invited to the Chanel show - that was the loudest I’ve ever screamed in my life. That was the best day of my life.”
Dakota on living on her own in college: “[I have] no roommates. Because I’m only 17, my mom is staying with me in my apartment for a little bit. She’s teaching me how to wash clothes and such. But I’m so excited to be on my own. In my house in L.A., we all feel that everything is everybody’s, and so doors are never really closed. My sister and I share a bathroom, and when you have a sibling, nothing is actually your own. I’ve never really had anything or any place that was just mine.”

Kristen Stewart Gets Gorgeous and Talks Twilight in W Magazine

Kristen Stewart is W's September cover girl! The Twilight star shows off a sultry look in dramatic makeup for the fashion mag as she gears up for the Fall release of the final installment in the series. Kristen already landed on the front of Entertainment Weekly in character with Robert Pattinson, and the costars were also shown getting intimate in another still from the movie. She recently switched gears to get to work on Snow White and the Huntsmen in London, but Kristen stayed focused on her vampire role during the interview. On vampires: "I f*cking love me a vampire. I was 17 when I read Twilight, and at the time it was so perfect for me. The script was about young kids who think they can handle stuff that they just can’t. And they’re going to do it anyway. Because, why not? Just torture yourself. I relate to that. Vampires are a little dangerous - and we girls like to test ourselves."
On growing up: "I have brothers, and that so-called boyish quality was something that I was deathly self-conscious about when I was younger. I was, like, No, I’m a girl. Actually, I’m still embarrassed to say that."
On filming the wedding scene in Breaking Dawn: "Awesome. This was my first wedding. It was insane. And odd. The wedding dress experience was a huge deal. I tried on one version of the dress, and it was like tweak and tweak and alter and tweak and change, and then it’s done. BFD dress. Huge deal."
On her last Twilight scene: "After that scene, my true final scene, I felt like I could shoot up into the night sky and every pore of my body would shoot light. I felt lighter than I’ve ever felt in my life.

The actress graced the front cover of its August issue decked out in a masculine-inspired Salvatore Ferragamo silk velvet tuxedo jacket, Acne trousers, Patricia Underwood for Chris Benz hat, and Sermoneta gloves complete with a matte face and daring red lips. Signature Tilda style, who appropriately cited her father as her fashion inspiration: “From childhood, I remember more about his black patent, gold livery, scarlet-striped legs, and medal ribbons than I do of my mother’s evening dresses," said Swinton. Penelope Cruz and Rachel McAdams Team Up For a Woody Tribute in W

The many muses of Woody Allen gathered for a photo spread in the June issue of W, which features Larry Crowne duo Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts on the cover and hits newsstands on the 24th. Woody is gearing up for the release of his latest big-screen effort, Midnight in Paris, tomorrow. He's jetted around the world for premieres with the film's stars Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams. Michael Sheen, who spoke about real-life girlfriend Rachel at last night's LA screening, has also been part of their entourage. Rachel is the latest leading lady to win the cinematic heart of Woody. Others, like Vicky Cristina Barcelona's Penelope Cruz and You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger's Naomi Watts, also paid tribute to the filmmaker in the issue. Penelope had nothing but kind words for Woody. She said, "I love a lot of things about Woody, but I really love his honesty and that there is no social bullsh*t. He only talks to you about what he thinks is important."
