Hilary Duff Shops and Speaks Scorpion

Hilary Duff spent her weekend around sunny LA looking casual shopping solo on Saturday before picking up Mike and some enormous flowers - perhaps for a special mom on Mother's Day? California transplant Hilary talked to LA Confidential in their new issue about War Inc. and what growing up in Texas had to do with the real scorpion she had in her pants - wow and eww. Here are some highlights:

On dropping a live scorpion down her pants: It was so scary. I grew up in Texas, and we had plenty of scorpions, but I never had to put one down my pants before. And my pants weren’t that baggy, so I couldn’t get any space. I did it a couple times with it going down my leg and it was terrifying. The little thing kept doing backbends because it obviously didn’t want to go in my pants, you know? Everyone on the set was cheering!
On her new role: When I read the script I knew I was ready for it. So I was really excited. Then it all sets in: Oh God, I have to have this foul mouth, be this rude and crude girl who tries to be sexy but she’s so young and kind of vulgar. But I think I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t really care. [...] I think I am kind of a good girl. I want my fans to still be there, and I do things for them. But I also want to grow, and for people to see me in a different way. I need to make myself happy. It’s a challenge.

On working with John Cusack and Sir Ben Kingsley: I’m really not shy at all, and since I’ve been working for such a long time, I’ve learned that when it’s time to not be shy, I go into autopilot or something. Being there with all of them.... They didn’t know what to expect of me and I didn’t know what to expect of them. We became such good friends.
On this movie being different than her usual: I think that’s going to be a lot of people’s reaction.... Not really knowing what they’re getting into. It’s definitely interesting and creative.

Between her movie roles and her serious relationship, Lizzie Maguire is all grown up. Thankfully it seems like Hilary has kept her head on her shoulders and is more than excited to show everyone her more adult side too.

Hilary and Haylie Duff Are at War

Many of you want Hilary Duff to star in the 90210 spinoff but for now she's busy showing off her acting skills at the Tribeca Film Festival. We were hoping for a red carpet walk with her man, Mike who is in NYC with her, but, as expected, it was Haylie, who escorted her down the line. Buzz was there and she said Hilary was whisked away too quickly to ask about that crazy scorpion scene and unfortunately, the rain probably helped the quick appearance move right along but luckily there were some other fabulous folks to check out from War, Inc. including Marisa Tomei who Buzz said was gorgeous up close and in person. John Cusack Loves Scary Movies, Hilary Duff

John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson premiered their creepy horror flick 1408 this week in LA. In the film, which is based on a short story by Stephen King, John plays a paranormal specialist who checks into the room 1408 of a hotel in order to debunk the myth that it's haunted. Hilary Duff showed up to the premiere as well to support her costar in the upcoming film War, Inc. (previously Brand Hauser: Stuff Happens). The two have obviously become friends and John told MTV recently that he has nothing but respect for Ms Duff. Here's more:

Is it true you requested [Hilary Duff for War, Inc.]?
John: Yep. Well, the part was ... she played a pop idol from central Asia. So, she was like a Hilary - but not Hilary, because Hilary is so classy - but like a real, and I won't name names, but a real slutty pop star. ... Hilary is the opposite of that, of course. I think for her to play that, or to parody that, was really great.
What's the biggest misconception [of her]?
John: I think probably people wouldn't know how talented she is. I mean, she's a great actress. I just spent the entire fall with her and she was a revelation every day. I don't think people know that yet, but they're gonna.

Gee, I wonder what slutty pop star he could possibly be talking about? Luckily, Hilary works hard at setting herself apart from her pantyless trainwreck counterparts. Besides, she may be a pop star but she was an actress first so it's no wonder John was impressed with her talent. It will be interesting to see her play this parody of her counterparts.

Hilary's Quiet Success Gets Overshadowed By Indy

It seems like Hilary Duff had a relaxing long Memorial Day weekend in LA. After she and her still crutch-bound boyfriend Mike Comrie enjoyed a lunch date at the Coral Tree Cafe on Saturday, she went solo on Monday to shop at Barneys. Hilary’s movie War Inc. opened in very limited release on Friday - and while it didn't crack the top 10 or get good reviews, its per screen average was actually pretty high. So there's still hope for Hilary on the PopSugar 100.

After her big Tribeca Film Festival premiere of War, Inc., it was right back to LA for Hilary Duff with Mike Comrie by her side. Seems like Hilary's not the only one smitten with her man and his lifestyle because Mr. Comrie is already fitting right in with her jet setting ways. Sure, Hil's choice of pants/boots pairing may be questionable here, but it's good to see she's so comfy (quite literally) with her cute boyfriend.

Hilary Duff Is a Non-Judgmental Hockey Addict

Hilary Duff was looking red hot showing off her legs during a visit to TRL yesterday. She's been making her way through NYC promoting War, Inc, but at the premiere last night, she couldn't help straying off topic of her new film just a little. She talked about her boyfriend Mike being supportive and patient as well as her latest hockey obsession. When asked to weigh in on the Miley Cyrus' Vanity Fair photo, Hilary kept it classy saying, "Who am I to judge decisions that she made?" Miley could learn a lesson from the former Disney star.

Hilary Duff Is Growing Up Whether We Like It or Not

Hilary Duff channeled a bygone era posing in a Bonnie and Clyde inspired shoot for the May issue of Allure. Just like the infamous housewife turned bank robber, Hilary is ready to leave the life she knows behind. She opens up to the magazine about being a regular adult, wanting to ditch her squeaky-clean image, and her peers Lindsay Lohan, Miley Cyrus, and Avril Lavigne. Here's more:

On Lindsay Lohan: "Supposedly, I stole Lindsay Lohan's boyfriend [Aaron Carter.] We were, like, 13! And I've never stolen anyone's boyfriend! I don't know how you do that! . . . She was talking about it and I wasn't. It made us both look bad and put up a big weirdness. Really she was just a girl my age. We are fine now, by the way."
On Miley Cyrus: "We don't have each other's phone numbers. But when she meets me, she's excited. It's cute – I see a lot of myself in her."
On being with 24-year-old Joel Madden when she was 15: “He was never nervous, like, ‘I could get arrested,’” she says. But does admit, “It looked bad.”

On Avril Lavigne: "I said something about how she didn't like her fans dressing like her, and how she should appreciate that because it's a compliment. She called me a goody-goody [Lavigne called Duff a 'mommy's girl' in Newsweek] Everyone is trying to prove who they are, and their position. So, I'm 'the good girl.' She's 'the bad girl' or 'the party girl.' Sarah Jessica Parker doesn't take her clothes off, but she's not a 'good girl.' [Adult actors] don't get tagged like we do."
On being normal: "I’m not a perfect, prude girl. I like to do normal things that 20 year-olds do."
On pleasing her younger fans: "I don’t want to restrict myself from doing things that stimulate me just to make them happy . . . if they continue liking me, that’s cool, but I don’t want to cater to them. I’m not 13, 14, or 15 anymore.”

Hilary's upcoming role as a sexy Eastern European pop star in War, Inc. will probably change some people's impressions of her. We're all for growing up but we hope she doesn't try too hard to prove she's not a good girl anymore since we think it's part of her appeal unlike many of her peers.

Hilary Duff Makes Stuff Happen

Check out Hilary Duff sporting a new look with John Cusack on the set of their new futuristic film, Brand Hauser: Stuff Happens (previously titled War, Inc.). In the film that was written and produced by him, Cusack plays a hit man who is hired to kill a Middle Eastern oil minister. His cover is acting as a wedding planner for a local pop star. We're guessing that Hil is that pop star. Guess this role isn't a huge stretch for her.

I still can't get over her get-up in these pics. It looks like she's going to play a real diva. She does comedy really well, I bet it will be hilarious. For more just read more
