Comic-Con Brings Out Scarlett, True Blood Stars, Pregnant Ali Larter, and Many More!

There was a whole lot of Comic-Con action going down in San Diego over the weekend. True Blood's Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer were there on Friday to talk about their series, including the future of their characters' relationship. They also gave a teaser showing what's still to come this season on their show. Will Ferrell was there on behalf of his The Other Guys with Mark Wahlberg, who opened up to us about playing good cop with his kids. Their costar Eva Mendes also chatted with us about the great time she had being funny with the boys.

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds were there on Saturday for their Green Lantern panel, and his wife, Scarlett Johansson, later appeared with her Captain America costars like Robert Downey, Jr. Pregnant Ali Larter really showed off her baby bump at a Resident Evil: Afterlife press conference, and Natalie Portman kept the cameos coming while talking about her Thor. Kellan Lutz struck a pose at the Wired Cafe and showed off his new hat, while Scott Pilgrim vs. the World's Anna Kendrick hit up a Syfy channel party that night and Vanessa Hudgens partied with her fellow Sucker Punch actresses. Carey Mulligan Gets Stoked For a New Movie Role

This seems like a strange bit of casting news: Carey Mulligan is reportedly signed on to star in a new Fox Searchlight film titled Stoker - but that's not the odd part. You ready for this? It's written by Prison Break star Wentworth Miller.

The story will center on a teenager (Mulligan) who reconnects with her uncle after the death of her father. The movie is attracting other big names, as well; Jodie Foster is in talks to costar, while Tony and Ridley Scott are eyeing producing credits. Well, I guess that makes Miller's screenplay legit! But I think there's a bigger concern here - between rumors of new projects plus her supposed role in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, how will Mulligan ever find the time?

TV Tonight: Prison Break Returns For One Last Run

Prison Break is a series that - to its credit - has probably managed to hang on far longer than its premise suggested it could. It seemed like a one season kind of show, two at best. Somehow, Prison Break has kept adding stories and twists, creating four seasons full of drama. But starting tonight, it really is approaching the end.

And everyone, from Fox executives to the series' creator, seems to think that's for the best: "The ideas that were tossed around in terms of what could be season five were pretty thin," executive producer Matt Olmstead said recently. There's a feeling among the cast and crew that the whole story was told - or at least will be by the time this final run is over.

Tonight starts with a repeat of Prison Break's most recent episode. Then a new one airs, the first of six total new hours (the series finale, scheduled for May 15, is two hours long). Two additional hours of Prison Break exist - they're actually a stand-alone movie, which may or may not ever air on Fox but will be released on DVD - but fans shouldn't worry: Olmstead said "everything gets wrapped up" in the May 15 episode, so the other two hours are more of a bonus than a necessity.

If Ashlee's Pregnant, She's Sure Not Showing Yet

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz were among the familiar celebrity faces that hit the red carpet at the Bravo Supershow in Nuremberg, Germany on Sunday. After weeks of conveniently cut dresses and hoodies to go along with those pregnancy rumors, Ashlee showed off her svelte figure in a high-waisted skirt. While Ash still won't confirm or deny that, during an interview with Heat Radio she was happy to joke about her upcoming wedding - specifically whether Jessica's music would make it into the reception playlist. She said, "No, that would be really nerdy." Wentworth Miller joined them at the event, which I'm sure makes more than a few of you readers happy.

Prison Break Just Keeps Escaping Cancellation

How do they keep doing it? Prison Break is one of those shows that seemed to have a really solid premise for one season. Maybe two. Certainly not three - and four? Out of the question.

Except that this Fox drama just keeps dodging the bullet. This week, Fox announced that Prison Break is returning for a fourth season of 22 episodes, which will begin airing in the Fall. The series will relocate from Dallas to Los Angeles, where key storylines will be taking place.

The show only got to air 13 episodes this season because of the writers' strike, but they certainly weren't lacking in drama - much revolving around the departure of a major character. It isn't a very highly rated show (the 13 episodes averaged 8.2 million viewers) but the audience it has seems to be enough to keep Fox happy. A spinoff focusing on a women's prison is also still in the works, likely focusing on a character that will be introduced sometime in the fourth season.

"Prison Break" Fans: Here's the Real Story with Sara

So, that was some pretty shocking stuff on this week's "Prison Break," right? Luckily, I've tracked down a couple of interviews that reveal the real story behind the twisted developments. They're all pretty spoiler-y, but if you're ready to talk about the episode, just

So Sara is really, absolutely, totally dead - and with her head chopped off and in a box, no less, despite previous assurances that she would spend season three alive and well.

According to TV Guide's Michael Ausiello, who interviewed producer Matt Olmstead, what you saw last night wasn't the original plan. The writers decided they needed to kill Sara at some point to keep Michael's story fresh in season three, but actress Sarah Wayne Callies and the show could never come to terms on a contract. As Olmstead told Ausiello:

Our initial idea was to have [Sarah/Sara appear in] the first 13 episodes, so she and Michael could have a proper goodbye. There were going to be some really emotional scenes where he tried to save her from dying, but she ultimately passed. So then we whittled it down to 11 episodes, then 10 episodes, then nine episodes, then four episodes…. Then we suggested flying to her - she was pregnant [at the time] and living in a remote part of Canada - and bringing a camera crew to her house, but that wasn't accepted. We then whittled it down to just a phone conversation, and that was turned down, too.

For her part, Callies issued a statement saying, "As hard as we all tried, the 'Prison Break' powers that be and I were unable to find a way to meet both the needs of the story and the needs of my family." For the reactions of the other cast members, check out this video interview.

Callies also expressed hope that fans would keep watching the show, so I'm wondering: Will you? Or is this too big a leap for you to take?
