Kirsten Dunst Gets Support From Her Man Garrett Hedlund For Sundance Bachelorette Premiere

Kirsten Dunst and Lizzy Caplan hit the red carpet together to premiere their female-driven comedy Bachelorette at the Sundance Film Festival last night. The girls stuck together for the arrivals interviews and chatted about their own experiences in friends' bridal parties - though apparently there are no crazy bachelorette stories from their real lives. Kirsten's boyfriend, Garrett Hedlund, snuck in right behind her, skipping the press but supporting his girl. James Marsden joked about how much fun he had playing an "unapologetic douchebag" in the film, which apparently pushes the envelope of the dark wedding comedy. Afterwards, the cast hit up their afterparty at TAO.

Amy Poehler's Funny Friends Toast Her at Variety's Power of Comedy Event

Amy Poehler was the honored guest at Saturday night's Variety Power of Comedy event, and many of her friends, family, and past and present costars turned up to toast - and sometimes roast - the Parks and Recreation star. Will Ferrell, Maya Rudolph, Whitney Cummings, and of course, Will Arnett, were among the celebs who attended or took the stage during the soiree.

We caught up with Will and Amy before the show kicked off, and the pair told us that despite their comedic talents, their two sons get the most laughs at home. Will and Amy made a date night of the annual event, which is held as a benefit for women's cancers. Last year, Russell Brand was awarded for his comedic chops, and he shared a video message with Amy, as did her former "Weekend Update" cohort Tina Fey. Will Ferrell jokingly went in for a kiss as he presented Amy with her award at the close of the show, and during the evening, both Maya and Ken Jeong performed silly songs in her honor. We spoke with Ken on the red carpet, who told us the evening had special meaning for him not only as an admirer of Amy's, but because his wife is a breast-cancer survivor herself.

David Beckham Has Fans in Will Ferrell and His Three Sons

David Beckham took the field with the LA Galaxy yesterday afternoon. His sons, Brooklyn Beckham, Cruz Beckham, and Romeo Beckham, were in the stands to cheer them on. David got a handshake and hug from Will Ferrell, who attended the team's match against Manchester City. The game was a close one, with Manchester winning 7-6 over the Galaxy in a penalty shootout. David left LA for NYC after the sporting event to make it to his appearance on Good Morning America with his MLS All-Star Team this a.m. He talked about his 2-week-old daughter, Harper, during his chat with Robin Roberts and followed up the TV interview with a practice session. On Wednesday, David and the soccer dream team will take on his former club, Manchester United, in New Jersey.

Usually it's Zach Galifianakis bringing the weird on his skit series Between Two Ferns, but his latest guest took matters into his own hands. When Will Ferrell stopped by the show, he managed to be even more awkward than Galifianakis - and surprisingly, Galifianakis has waived most of his usual shtick in favor of more polite behavior. The guys get along (perhaps a little too much), but of course it doesn't last, and Ferrell loses his temper. Check it out and be sure to keep an eye out for a pretty dreamy celebrity cameo.

The Costume Institute Gala was the place to be for celebs in NYC last night, but the Lakers game in LA was also a star magnet. Superfan David Beckham assumed his usual courtside position on the evening of his 36th birthday, while Justin Timberlake sipped on a beer next to friends to watch as the hometown team took on the Dallas Mavericks during the first matchup in the Western Conference semifinals - the Texans, though, pulled off a win by just two points. Justin skipped this year's Met Ball despite actually co-chairing the event with Vogue head Anna Wintour two years ago. Mom-to-be January Jones is another who has turned out for Costume Institute Galas in the past, but she stayed put in California to spend an evening with her pal Jennifer Carpenter. There was more friend love in the air for Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly, and the Step-Brothers buddies even shared a friendly kiss on the lips. Will has a few reasons to spread cheer to his nearest and dearest, with his new movie Everything Must Go receiving a warm reception during the recent Tribeca Film Festival. He's also lining up a cast for a new wedding comedy starring Kirsten Dunst and Party Down's Lizzy Caplan.

The Tribeca Film Festival continues in NYC this week! I was able to screen and review Ryan Phillippe's The Bang Bang Club a few days ago, and this morning provided a chance to check out Will Ferrell's upcoming movie Everything Must Go.

Who's behind it? Writer and director Dan Rush adapted the screenplay from Raymond Carver's short story Why Don't You Dance. It's Rush's first feature, but he nonetheless was able to team up with great talent like Will Ferrell and Rebecca Hall. The film also features a young newcomer, Christopher Jordan Wallace.
What's it about? Will Ferrell stars as Nick Halsey, a down-on-his-luck, alcoholic salesman who was left by his wife and fired from his high-paying job on the same day. His wife can't handle his erratic behavior anymore, so she throws all his stuff out on the lawn and changes the locks, as well as the security code, to their suburban Scottsdale home. Under Arizona law, he has five days to conduct a yard sale - and Nick's luck might change with the help of a neighborhood kid, Christopher Jordan Wallace's Kenny, and Rebecca Hall's Samantha, a pregnant photographer who just moved in across the street.

What did I think? Ferrell said in a recent interview with The New York Times that he found himself exploring genres other than comedy after the recession affected his ability to get certain projects off the ground. Those circumstances apparently freed him to spend five weeks working on Rush's film. Some of Ferrell's other forays into drama (see: Melinda and Melinda) weren't my favorite, but Everything Must Go is a gem. The plot has potential to veer off into heavy territory, but Rush and Ferrell manage to imbue the movie with a sense of playfulness even as Nick's world crumbles around him. There are also a few genuinely funny moments, giving Ferrell fans a little of the humor they've come to expect in his work. Ferrell, in some sense, plays an archetypal everyman - he's in his 40s, has the house on the cul-de-sac, enjoys sitting in his beloved armchair. The essence of the movie is how Ferrell and Rush manage to make Nick Halsey's plight touching and unique through the character's suddenly new circumstances and friendships. The movie was also beautifully shot, making Scottsdale look like a place where dreams can be dashed or, hopefully, revived.

The Office, "Training Day": Best Lines of the Night

We all thought Holly was Michael Scott's perfect match, but that was before we met Deangelo Vickers. Will Ferrell makes his first appearance on The Office this week as the man who may be the next Dunder Mifflin regional manager. The guys seem to be two of a kind on their first awkward meeting, but it's not long before their kinship turns into a competition.

Ferrell actually fits in with the motley crew pretty seamlessly, though he proves to be a bit more rough around the edges than Michael. Steve Carell's exit is really sinking in now, and poor Michael was tearing up by the end of the episode. Personally, my biggest laugh came from Andy stumbling in the kitchen when he's trying to tell jokes, but the episode wasn't without a few zingers. Check out my favorite lines of the night when you

Deangelo: "Doing some skiing?" Michael: "No. I don't want to end up like Sonny Bobo."
"This is Jim and Pam, aka JAP." - Michael, much to the chagrin of JAM fans everywhere

"I'm telling you, that baby could be the star of a show called 'Babies I Don't Care About.'" - Deangelo, expressing his distaste for Pam and Jim's attempts to use Cece to bond with their new boss

Que Bueno: Will Ferrell Goes Spanish For Casa de mi Padre Trailer

Just in time for Will Ferrell's appearance on The Office, we get to take a peek at his Spanish-language film, Casa de mi Padre. It's everything we expected (and maybe just a teensy bit more): a full-on telenovela spoof, complete with sexo (that's sex to you), guns blazing, and slapping a-plenty. Despite the language barrier, Ferrell's character doesn't seem too far off his typical schmoes, but it's pretty entertaining to see Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna rise to the occasion and ham it up.

I couldn't help chuckling at the trailer, but I'm still a little wary of how this is going to pan out into a full-length film - it seems better suited to a four-minute Funny or Die sketch. Regardless, there's no denying that they deserve points for creativity. Watch it and weigh in when you

First Look: Will Ferrell Comes To the Office!

Now that Michael Scott's days at Dunder-Mifflin are officially numbered (single tear), it's time to bring on the guest stars. Will Ferrell will be stepping up to begin his four-episode arc on April 14, which includes some overlap with Steve Carell. NBC has just released a few scenes from Ferrell's appearance, where he'll play a possible substitute for the coveted role of regional manager.
