Movie Preview: Matthew McConaughey Is The Lincoln Lawyer

This trailer for The Lincoln Lawyer is trying way too hard. Matthew McConaughey stars as Mickey Haller, a lawyer who works from the back of his Lincoln Town Car, hence the title (the license plate reads NTGUILTY, groan). His clients are from the underbelly of L.A., the kind of people who prefer to pay their legal fees in unmarked envelopes - and Mickey is all too happy to accept their cash. But when he takes on a Beverly Hills client (Ryan Phillippe) charged with a woman's murder, Mickey may have bit off more than he can chew.

It's been a while since McConaughey has taken on a dramatic role, but I'm not sure this film will pack the same punch as A Time to Kill. The trailer is wrought with slick camera effects, and is trying really hard to be gritty. To its credit though, it's based on a best-selling novel, and the acting ensemble includes William H. Matthew McConaughey Fits in Fitness on Set With Ryan Phillippe

Matthew McConaughey shot scenes for his upcoming movie The Lincoln Lawyer in LA yesterday with Ryan Phillippe. Matthew spent the early part of the Summer relaxing and staying fit with his family, and he took advantage of a break in filming by keeping his legendary body in shape with a few push-ups. Ryan, meanwhile, showed off his own extra-hot physique on set earlier this month. They make a handsome duo, though most of you prefer Ryan's clean cut good looks to Matthew's. The pair were joined by William H. Macy, who was almost unrecognizable with long hair and a mustache.

Eva Has Plenty of Besos To Go Around

Even though Tony couldn't be there, Eva Longoria Parker had plenty of love from her friends last night at the launch party for her new restaurant Beso in LA. Some of Wisteria Lane's finest Desperate Housewives came out to celebrate, and Bella wants to know how you feel about Nicollette Sheridan's red lipstick. Eva was looking very smiley in her summery white dress, but she did admit that she wasn't feeling one hundred percent calm, saying,

"Everything is painted, every candle is lit, every glass has arrived. So we’re not like, 'The chairs are not in!' So far there has not been a catastrophic emergency happening. So I am very excited. I'm a little nervous too. But at least I don’t have to cook."

Even if Eva had to handle the kitchen, she's never been shy about discussing her cooking skills. Speaking of which, Yum's got the recipe for Eva's tortilla soup so you can have a little Eva in your kitchen even if you can't make it to Beso just yet.

Desperate Housewives Shuts Down for Strike

Eva Longoria showed sympathy for the Writers Guild of America strikers yesterday afternoon with pizza while Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy picked up signs and joined the crowd outside the Desperate Housewives set. DH will officially shut down production tomorrow, being the first show to do so. Buzz is keeping us up to date on how the strike will affect our favorite shows - including the news that 24 is delayed indefinitely and The Office only has two more episodes before it goes into reruns. I can only imagine how hard it is for the writers, who are sacrificing paychecks that pale in comparison to the stars on their shows. It's a little bit heartening that actors like Eva are supporting the people who are there to feed her the amazing plot lines she and her colleagues get to work with. For everyone's sake, hopefully the two sides are able to negotiate a better deal soon.

Felicity Huffman Tries a Tri

Every once in a blue moon we'll see celebrities acting as really good role models for health. Since it doesn't happen all the time, I really enjoy sharing it with you when it does...

A real treat for you today, is seeing Felicity Huffman, participating in The Nautica Malibu Triathlon at Zuma Beach, in Malibu, CA. I am always impressed when anyone completes a triathlon, but even more impressive is that a few hours later Felicity Huffman was dressed to the nines at the 2007 Primetime Emmy Awards -- Now that's inspiring! I am totally motivated by her at this point, especially since a lot of other celebs would have thrown out the idea of doing a triathlon on such an important celebrity celebration day. You go girl!

Wild Hogs Shows Some Apple Lovin'

The biker comedy Wild Hogs made a smash hit debut this past weekend, rolling in $39.7 million and moving it into the top spot at the box office. The film stars John Travolta, Martin Lawrence, William H. Macy and Tim Allen as biker buddies who decide to pack it up and take a big road trip together. This pic is from the beginning of the movie when they are talking about their trip and decide to destroy their cell phones so they have zero responsibilities. The 40-year-old virgin computer geek Dudley Frank arrives, played by William H. Macy, to show off his new tattoo.

Lindsay Pisses Off Co-Stars

First LL got into serious trouble with the producers of Georgia Rule, and now William H. Macy is calling her out on her disrespectful behavior. The two star in the upcoming movie Bobby, and Macy told reporters at a press junket there's no apology big enough to excuse her lateness to work. When will this girl ever learn? She can't continue to party all night and piss everyone off at work the next day. People reports:

"I think what an actor has to realize (is that) when you show up an hour late, 150 people have been scrambling to cover for you," Macy told reporters Thursday. "There is not an apology big enough in the world to have to make 150 people scramble. It's nothing but disrespect. And Lindsay Lohan is not the only one. A lot of actors show up late as if they're God's gift to the film. It's inexcusable, and they should have their asses kicked."

When asked about Lohan's work on Bobby, Macy paused and said, "She was pretty late."

He added, "I worry about these young kids – 15, 18, 20 years old – who in the span of one year become millionaires and powerhouses. It's too much power for a kid that age to handle."
