Just minutes ago at the Fox portion of the
Winter TCA, Simon Cowell himself took the stage to confirm that the upcoming season of
American Idol will be his last.
As expected, Cowell's focus will be shifted to launching the American version of X Factor, which is slated to premiere on Fox in 2011. Cowell even signed his new contract on the stage for all of the press to see.

oh no....oh no no no.............................
1Great, another crappy British imported reality show. This is the reason network television sucks nowadays. All of the good programs are on cable.
2good. maybe now that stupid show will finally go off the air. damn, only to be replaced by another stupid reality show. reality shows SUCK
3Idol sucks. he's smart to leave it to crash and burn. I think we've all had enough of the whole American Idol singing hoopla. xfactor is essentially idol with a different name. what's the point? one show i bad enough.
4Oh great! He's leaving the show for his rip off version so he can make more money. Him and these crappy shows need to get lost.
5Wonder if Cheryl Cole is going to come over here and judge. I hear Simon's trying to get her to break the US market. If so, I'm all for it-she seems like a nice, good-looking down-to-earth girl lol. I like the UK version of X factor, but I've never watched an episode of American Idol, don't know why but hte US version has never appealed to me lol. I may check out the US X factor though.
6And despite Simon's money-making schemes, I think he's really hilarious and I really like him, esp. if you watch him on the Xtra factor.
As Brit I feel so sorry for you guys being dumped with X Factor. I can only apologise. It really is an appalling show and you guys are going to have to suffer it too now.
7Plus Cheryl Cole is a complete moron who mimed her own single on the UK X Factor. Sorrrrrryyy from the UK!!!
