Kate Hudson Steps Out to Support Zach Braff's Play

Kate Hudson, wrapped in a Pringle of Scotland sweater, was back in London last night and ventured out to the Duke of York Theatre to attend a stage production of Zach Braff's All New People. The actors have been friends for years and Zach was even at Kate's 30th birthday party back in 2009.

It's been a busy week full of jet setting for Kate. She recently returned to her part-time home in the UK following a romantic getaway in Mexico with fiancé Matthew Bellamy. Kate and Matt relaxed on the beach in Cancun and played football with their superstar friends like Leonardo Dicaprio and Naomi Campbell. The engaged couple are splitting their time between the West Coast and London while his band Muse puts the finishing touches on their sixth album. Meanwhile, Zach's time overseas may wrap up next month since his play finishes out its 10 week run on April 28.

Best friends and former Scrubs stars Zach Braff and Donald Faison spent New Year's Eve snorkeling off the coast of Maui with their respective ladies, Taylor Bagley and CaCee Cobb. The girls, Donald, and Zach landed on the island last week and spent their afternoon lounging close to their resort on the beach and at the pool. It's been a few seasons since Scrubs left the airwaves, and since then, the guys have moved on to new projects. Zach recently wrapped his role in Oz: The Great and Powerful, while Donald shot a comedy for TV Land, Exes, in addition to planning his upcoming wedding to CaCee.

Zach Braff and his girlfriend, Taylor Bagley, joined Donald Faison and fiancée CaCee Cobb for a walk on the beach in Hawaii on Sunday. The Scrubs costars remain close friends and brought their lovely ladies along for the tropical holiday double date. Before heading to the island, Donald and Zach recorded a hilarious version of "Baby, It's Cold Outside" set on a gorgeous sunny LA day, which CaCee shared on Twitter on Christmas day. It was a romance-filled 2011 for longtime loves CaCee and Donald - the two announced their engagement in August and are capping off the year with this sweet getaway alongside some of their closest companions.

Scarlett Johansson posed with her friends Zach Braff and Justin Bartha backstage on Saturday night at the debut of their play All New People. Zach wrote and directed the Second Stage Theater production, and Justin plays the lead. Scarlett, who acted in a Broadway play last year herself, was solo as she turned out to support the guys at the well-reviewed premiere. Scarlett and her ex Ryan Reynolds were spotted having a cozy dinner date in LA just last week, but the actress hasn't been linked to any other new guys since her recent split from Sean Penn. Instead, she has been focusing on work. She not only shot We Bought a Zoo opposite Matt Damon, but she's also currently starring as Black Widow in The Avengers.

Casting Update: Who's in For Oz: The Great and Powerful

Oz: The Great and Powerful is the latest film project to put a new spin on a childhood classic. Like Broadway musical Wicked, this take on The Wizard of Oz will be a prequel to Dorothy's experience down the yellow brick road, but this time it will be told from the perspective of the wizard himself. The 3D movie is set for a 2013 release, so even though that's a long ways away, I've put together a list of who's been cast so far so you'll know what you're in for.

James Franco will star in the title role as the wizard, a magician whose air balloon blows off course and ends up in the Emerald City, where the citizens look to him to help get rid of the wicked witch plaguing them. Before Franco, Johnny Depp and Robert Downey Jr. were both attached to the part.
Mila Kunis will play Theodora, the youngest of the three witches who starts out as good, but is convinced by her evil sister to go bad, ending up as the Wicked Witch of the West. No confirmation yet on whether she'll have green skin, but my fingers are crossed.
Rachel Weisz is set to play Evanora, Theodora's older and much more evil sister, the Wicked Witch of the East.
Michelle Williams will play Glinda, the Good Witch of the North and symbol of good in the kingdom.
Zach Braff is the latest to join the cast as Frank, Oz's loyal assistant in the Emerald City. It's been speculated that the character is based on author L. Frank Baum.
Sam Raimi will direct the film, having signed on last Summer. He's best known for helming the three Spider-Man films, so he should be more than ready to take on the effects of the 3D Oz.
Mad Men's Abigail Spencer will play a woman who lets the wizard perform magic tricks on her while in Kansas.

Tribeca Kicks Off on the Opposite Coast With Anna Kendrick, Justin Bartha, Malin Akerman, and More!

Celebs toasted the Tribeca Film Festival last night during a cocktail reception at the W Hotel in Hollywood. The event begins on April 20 in NYC, but stars including Malin Akerman, Dax Shepard, Anna Kendrick, and Kate Walsh got an early start to the celebration of independent filmmaking at the packed LA party. Malin's Bang Bang Club, which also costars Ryan Phillippe, and Kate's Angel's Crest will be among the first movies to screen at this year's fest. Yesterday evening also marked one of Justin Bartha's first public appearances since his split from Ashley Olsen, and The Hangover star was spotted catching up and laughing with friend Zach Braff inside the soirée. Zach will be a featured speaker at Tribeca this year, and fans can already start submitting questions for the Garden State director online.
