We are sad to report that Dennis Hopper passed away this morning after battling prostate cancer for more than 10 years. The 74-year-old actor is known for tons of movie and TV roles, including Blue Velvet, Speed, and Easy Rider. Our thoughts go out to his four children and the rest of his loved ones.

Gwyneth Paltrow's role in Tod's Pashmy Dream doesn't stray far from her reality. The short film, directed by Dennis Hopper, portrays, Gwyneth as a famous star in Italy. While interviewing with a dapper reporter, Gwyneth gets bombarded by the paparazzi and makes a run for it - ditching her precious Tod's Pashmy bag. The little adventure continues with the reporter chasing Gwyneth around town trying to return her Pashmy, all of course, with it casually slung across his shoulders. From the mystical flame blowers to the whimsical soundtrack, this mini movie makes for a fun six-minute break. Enjoy!

First Look: Crash, the Series

What does an Oscar-winning movie look like when translated onto the small screen, with an entirely different cast and set of stories? That's the question Crash will have to answer when it premieres on Starz next month.

The 2006 Best Picture's producers (including Paul Haggis and Bobby Moresco) are on board for the 13-episode series, which features nine new characters with intersecting lives as they travel through Los Angeles. Save for Dennis Hopper, who's playing an aging maverick record producer, the cast features mostly unknown or little-known actors (DB Sweeney and Jocko Sims may be the best-known of the bunch).

When we first talked about the show, most of you said you wouldn't be interested in watching. I'm wondering if any of the new video footage of the show changes your mind. The Office has been given the key post-Super Bowl time slot and will air a one-hour episode following the game, Entertainment Weekly reports.
According to ComingSoon, Steve Buscemi and Romany Malco will star together in Saint John of Las Vegas, a loose adaptation of Dante's Inferno.
Tori Spelling has no deal to appear on 90210 and her desired salary may be the sticking point, E! reports.
Sara Gilbert is joining the cast of The Big Bang Theory after a successful guest-starring gig, Zap2it reports.
Dennis Hopper will get his own exhibit in France where, apparently, he is highly revered, writes Variety.
Clarke Peters and Wendell Pierce - aka Freamon and Bunk from The Wire - are joining Treme, David Simon's new HBO pilot about New Orleans, writes The Hollywood Reporter.
Variety has the news that director Chris Columbus is readying a film about Robert F. Kennedy's 1968 presidential run.
24 producer Carlos Coto and Brett Ratner are working on an action-comedy for Fox titled Wild Boys, which will follow "ex-soldiers turned suburban dads," ComingSoon reports.
Matthew Bomer - aka Bryce Larkin from Chuck and Jay from Traveler - has been cast in the lead of a USA series called White Collar, writes The Hollywood Reporter.

TV Casting News: Smits, Hopper, Cole

The TV upfronts may be nothing more than a fond memory, but there's still a trickle of casting news coming in about Fall shows - both on networks and on cable. One of these stories involves a recently displaced actor whose show's cancellation bummed some of you out, while another puts a veteran film actor in the lead of a series based on an Oscar-winning movie. Read on:

Smits Joins Dexter
Jimmy Smits, seen most recently in the CBS show Cane, will be staying in Miami for his next role: Smits will play an attorney on Showtime's Dexter. His character is described as ""an ambitious, charismatic assistant district attorney who comes from one of Miami's most politically powerful and beloved families" and forms an unlikely partnership with Dexter. No return date has been set for the show, but it's expected to premiere sometime in the Fall.

Hopper to Crash
Dennis Hopper, best known for his film roles, will lead the cast of the TV adaptation of Crash, the Oscar-winning film that is being made into a series for Starz. It looks like the show is less of a direct adaptation and more of an "inspired by" sort of situation, as none of the characters match directly to the film counterparts; Hopper will play Ben, a veteran music producer searching for one more great hit. The series is expected to premiere in October. It will be Hopper's first TV project since his stint on the short-lived E-Ring several years back.

He's joining the cast of the ABC pilot Good Behavior, playing the father of the criminal clan that decides to get out of the business when he ends up in prison. That means he'll be the TV husband of Catherine O'Hara and father of Mae Whitman (Arrested Develoment's Ann); we're still waiting to see who will play their other daughter. Rob Thomas of Veronica Mars is leading the adaptation for ABC. Also good news: Jeffrey Tambor has signed on to guest-star in the same show!

Lindsay and Samantha Still Attached at the Hip

Lindsay Lohan spent another night playing groupie as Samantha Ronson showed off her spinning skills at two different parties. First on the agenda was G-Star LA Raw Night, where LL made small talk with Dennis Hopper before the ladies continued their night of work and play at a N.E.R.D. concert preparty. As we all continue to wonder about the extent of their relationship, Lindsay and Samantha's friends have been gushing about how great it is to see the girls together in a close, trustworthy friendship that makes them both happy. Romantic or not, it's easy to see that this is one of the more healthy relationships Lindsay has had in a long time.

Indiana Jones Swings Into Cannes!

[Cue Indiana Jones theme Song] Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull had its big Cannes premiere last night and it wasn't only the movie's stars clamoring to see the much-anticipated film. Harrison Ford was the man of the hour alongside George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, but looked happiest next to Calista in beautiful blue. Shia got all gussied up and dare I say looked a little overwhelmed with Cate Blanchett at such a huge event. Natalie Portman and Salma Hayek were among the other big red carpet names who just couldn't wait to get their Indy fix. Great news, too - it's been getting good reviews and got a three and a half minute standing ovation at the festival. Even better, only a few more days wait until it hits theaters everywhere.

The Cannes Film Festival Is Off and Running

The fun times in Cannes kicked off today, and there was no shortage of star power out on the red carpet for the opening premiere of Blindness. Co-stars Cate Blanchett and Gael Garcia Bernal led the pack, and Eva Longoria and Mischa Barton were just a couple of the lovely ladies who lit up the red carpet in their brightly colored dresses. Natalie Portman looked adorable as always in her little purple number, representing the festival's jury along with Sean Penn. We can't wait to see all of our favorite stars strutting their stuff over the next week and a half - considering that the buzz started with Angelina confirming her twins, we can only imagine what other fun surprises are in store for us.

Fab Flash: Gwyneth Paltrow, Dennis Hopper, and Tod's Make a (Mini) Movie

This week the Cannes Film Festival kicks off - yay! We're super excited to see what everyone will be wearing in the fabulous south of France. But it's really all about the movies that will be debuting.

Here's a short film that sounds right up our alley: Directed by actor and director Dennis Hopper, and featuring Gwyneth Paltrow, we see a day in the life of the blond fashion star in Italy with her Tod's Pashmy bag. Hopper happens to be old friends with Tod's chief executive officer Diego Della Valle (who knew?) and the four-minute film will debut at Cannes and then play on the Tod's website. Sounds like a fun little project to me.
