Last night history was made when we elected Barack Obama as the next president of the United States. Yesterday we got a look at stars hitting the polls and there hasn't been a day in recent memory where we didn't have celebrities campaigning in some way — mostly for Barack Obama. Now that he's been elected and it sounds like the young voters finally came out in droves, what do you think — did the many celebrity endorsements, PSAs, ads, and blogs have an influence on the election?

If you were hitting the polls in LA yesterday, there might have been a celebrity sighting in the cards. We took a look at the stars that stopped off to vote earlier in the day, but these ladies all made sure to make it out in time. Lindsay Lohan, Christina Aguilera and Hilary Duff all wore their "I Voted" stickers with pride to go with their fashionable Election Day looks.

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt joined the rest of the celebrity voters and headed to the polls in LA yesterday. While their choice for President didn't win the election, the couple still took the opportunity to pose for patriotic photos. As they supported their candidates, Heidi's dad was endorsing Spencer.

Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber took advantage of some alone time by cuddling up at a cafe in NYC yesterday before taking their coffees over to their polling place. Liev and Naomi were just two of the many famous faces we've spotted casting their ballots, which would surely make any long wait in line a little more tolerable. Between their son Alexander and baby number two on the way, this election probably meant more than most to the Watts-Schreiber family.

Scarlett Johansson bundled up yesterday for a walk around NYC with her friends. Despite her hat and scarf, she went without gloves — perfect to give us another peek at that diamond engagement ring, which now sits next to her wedding band. She also made time to stop at the polls, and after another weekend proudly rallying for Obama we know who got her vote.

Barack Obama took the presidency tonight after breakthrough wins in Ohio and Virginia. At 8 p.m. PST, as soon as the polls closed in California, Oregon and Washington, the networks called the election of President Barack Obama.

Reese Witherspoon pulled out her all gray wardrobe on her way to a party with her fruit platter over the weekend and then again around LA yesterday. After seeing her all cute with Jake and Deacon last week, Reese was back solo with a big smile on her face. Whether or not she brings Ava or Deacon with her to the polls, their dad is already among the celebrities to cast a vote in today's election.
