Last night history was made when we elected Barack Obama as the next president of the United States. Yesterday we got a look at stars hitting the polls and there hasn't been a day in recent memory where we didn't have celebrities campaigning in some way — mostly for Barack Obama. Now that he's been elected and it sounds like the young voters finally came out in droves, what do you think — did the many celebrity endorsements, PSAs, ads, and blogs have an influence on the election?

Harvey Weinstein hosted an Election Night Party at Public House in NYC yesterday as everyone got together to watch Barack Obama elected President. James Franco beamed and hugged everyone around him. Jessica Alba posed with Taylor Momsen, who's not old enough to vote but still got in on the excitement.

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt joined the rest of the celebrity voters and headed to the polls in LA yesterday. While their choice for President didn't win the election, the couple still took the opportunity to pose for patriotic photos. As they supported their candidates, Heidi's dad was endorsing Spencer.

David Arquette and Courteney Cox had their friends over for an election night party at their home in LA last night. Their guests included adamant Obama supporter John Mayer and PSA stars Jennifer Aniston, Sacha Baron Cohen, Isla Fisher, and more. David was so excited when Obama's victory was announced that he came outside with a bottle of champagne and cups to share a toast with the paparazzi.

Barack Obama took the presidency tonight after breakthrough wins in Ohio and Virginia. At 8 p.m. PST, as soon as the polls closed in California, Oregon and Washington, the networks called the election of President Barack Obama.

Beyonce Knowles joined Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, and Diddy at a "Promote the Vote" rally for Barack Obama in Philadelphia yesterday. Jay-Z and Diddy have been campaigning for the last few days in key toss-up states, and Diddy took the opportunity to open up about how important this election is to him.

It wasn't all about Halloween this weekend; across the country rallies were being held to get out the word in the final days before tomorrow's election. On Saturday, Scarlett Johansson hit Ohio to show her support for Barack Obama and get out the vote, while her husband Ryan Reynolds got ready to run the NY marathon yesterday with her support from afar. Jay-Z spoke at rallies on both Saturday in Virginia and Sunday in Florida about how honored he is to be able to participate in the campaign, saying, "Obama's running so we all can fly."

On Sunday Matt Damon vowed to give his all to Obama in the last days before the election, and he kept true to his word, stopping by the campaign headquarters in Hollywood, FL and then over to the University of Miami yesterday. The crowd, including Luciana and newborn Gia, looked more than happy to see Matt's big grin and he was kind enough to pose for photo ops — some with ladies sporting their expecting bellies. Matt isn't the only celebrity spending time down south — Elisabeth Hasselbeck is busy campaigning for Palin and the "sexist" wardrobe issue.
