Kristen Stewart Looks Lovely on the June Cover of Elle UK

Kristen Stewart went retro for the June 2012 cover of Elle UK, shot by photographer David Slijper. The issue hits newsstands tomorrow, May 2. She wore Jil Sander for the front of the magazine, which is being released as part of Kristen's promotional tour for Snow White and the Huntsman. Kristen was in Las Vegas last week for CinemaCon to chat up the thriller with her costar Charlize Theron, ahead of its release on June 1 here in the US. Now, Kristen's had to switch gears to focus on another project. She traveled to Vancouver over the weekend to do Breaking Dawn reshoots alongside her Twilight - and real-life - love Robert Pattinson.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Talk Twin Intuition, Stepping Out of the Spotlight in Elle UK

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen appear on dual Elle UK covers for the glossy's April issue. The sisters have managed to build a massive high-fashion empire helmed by their luxury line, The Row, since leaving their acting careers behind. Mary-Kate and Ashley, who show off their well-honed individual style in the pages of the publication, talk about their "shared" thought process and their somewhat controlling approach to their design work. The Olsens also reflect on their decision to mostly stay out of the public eye these days. The full feature appears in the April issue of Elle UK, on sale Wednesday, March 7. Ashley on how she and Mary-Kate think alike: "We're attracted to different things, but we arrive at the same place. I think we're probably unaware of how intuitive it might seem from the outside. It's basically one thought process shared between two people."
Mary-Kate on other celebrity fashion lines: "Of course we knew about the trend of celebrities as designers, but we'd done that already when we were much younger. I don't understand the new idea of designers as celebrities either. To me, the Phoebe Philo [Celine designer] kind of modesty is the way to go. We love beautiful things. That's the only driving impulse."
Ashley on their hands-on approach to work: "We are perfectionists. We've always wanted to be closely involved with everything, totally hands on - that's why it works. If we step away, it stops working. I know it sounds controlling, but that's how it has to be."
Ashley on staying out of the public eye: "I don't have to be a pretty face. I've done that, but now it's important and liberating to be on the other side of the lens. I don't like to be the center of attention anymore."

Newlywed Reese Witherspoon Opens Up About Ryan Phillippe, Dating, and Friendship in a Hot Elle UK Spread

Reese Witherspoon got serious and sexy for the May issue of Elle UK. The cover girl and newlywed, who just shared gorgeous pictures of her wedding day, is also gearing up for this month's release of Water For Elephants. She started promoting the project with an appearance at the Academy of Country Music Awards alongside costar Robert Pattinson last night, though she was more focused on her personal life when she sat down with the magazine. She spoke exclusively to Elle UK about her first marriage, the importance of her friendships, and how happy she is not to be dating in Hollywood. You can check out the full shoot, photographed by Ben Hassett, and the interview in the May issue, which is out this Wednesday. Here are highlights:

On her worst trait: "I'm a worrier. I worry a lot. I'm in my head a lot and I… worry. I know it's bad for me and I know I shouldn't do it, but I do. If I said I was quiet to any one of my friends, they'd be like, 'Are you kidding me?' but I get really lost in my thoughts. I like my alone time."
On dating: "I think dating is inherently complicated, anyway; what I do for a living makes it even more complicated. Let's just say I'm happy to not be dating. I met a wonderful man. I feel really, really lucky."
On her first marriage to Ryan Phillippe: "Oh, I was so, so young. I was, like, ridiculously young. I learned a lot, though. It was a good opportunity for me to really find out what it means to be a partner and to be in a marriage and it's not anything that I thought it was. You can't say, 'I don't want to talk about that' [to your partner]. You just can't. You've got to talk about it all."
On her friendships: "Friendships are work. You can only have a friend if you are a friend. You've got to be there. I really want to be the person who shows up for people when they need me. The friends I do have are very, very important to me."
On her career: "When you make movies you have no idea what people are going to like, or if they're going to like it; if your career this year is going to be great or if next year nobody is going to want to see you in a movie. You just don’t know."

Gwen Stefani Says Marriage "Hasn't Been the Easiest Journey" in Elle UK Girl Talk

Gwen Stefani looked gorgeous while hanging around on the cover of April's Elle UK - check out a behind-the-scenes look at the shoot from photographer Matthias Vriens McGrath. She's the face of its romance issue and chatted with her good friend Shirley Manson for the accompanying interview. The L.A.M.B. designer and L'Oréal model opened up about her 14 years with Gavin Rossdale, her daily workout struggle, and feeling lazy. Here's more:

On her marriage: "I've been with Gavin for 14 years, and, let's face it, that is a huge accomplishment. I feel so proud of that - it hasn't been the easiest journey."
On her ideal day: "I think of myself as really lazy. My ideal day would be to never get out of bed. No one can force me to do something unless I'm passionate about it."

Gwen Stefani Tells Elle UK That Staying in Shape Is No Joke

It's not good genes that keep Gwen Stefani looking so great, it's hard work and dedication. In the upcoming issue of Elle UK, Gwen, 41, tells the mag that she works out five days a week and can't imagine it any other way:

"I'd like to have no rules and eat what I want, but I've learned over the years that I'm so disappointed when I can't wear the clothes I want to wear. And if I let myself down, appear on stage when I'm not looking my best, it's not fun for me. I just beat myself up about it."

Maintaining a healthy weight has been a lifelong commitment for Gwen, who has admitted to being "a little chubby" when younger.

Whether you're maintaining your figure for bikini season or easing away stress, having a reason to exercise is easy motivation to make it to the gym. How often you get there is a whole 'nother story.

Carey Mulligan Shares on Hair, Shia, and Feeling Sexy in Elle UK

Carey Mulligan scored the cover of Elle UK's January 2011 issue, which is on newsstands now! The actress has been busy wrapping up the current year with award shows in both the US and the UK, but she found a minute to break from the jet-setting to chat about her short hair, her ex-boyfriend Shia LaBeouf, and the pressure to be beautiful in Hollywood. Carey said:

On meeting Shia: "I always wanted to work with him, above and beyond anything else, because I thought he was so amazing in A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints . . . I don't want to meet all these amazing people, that's not the thrill - I want to work with them."
On her short hair: "I hate my hair. After An Education, I had a small part in Michael Mann's film Public Enemies, and he wanted me to dye it white blonde and it wrecked my hair. Literally, ruined it. It was falling apart, fried. So I had to cut it off. I cried."
On not feeling sexy: "I've never felt like a sexy person . . . I've always felt like a sensible person. I've always felt absurd wearing anything revealing. I've always felt different here [in Hollywood]. I remember going up for auditions, walking into rooms of girls in denim minis, with cut-off tank tops, tanned legs, long hair and manicures, thinking, 'Erm . . . '. But it never made me feel bad. I've never felt pressure to look like that."
On having to lose weight for a role: "Weetabix for breakfast, soup for lunch and salad for dinner. 'No, I will not have that glass of wine! Put that pizza away!' It was not fun. I look back and it's really, really not worth depriving yourself. I was very thin at the beginning of An Education and I remember the scene where I'm dancing and you can see my spine. Yuck. I would never want to be so thin that someone would think it was a good idea to be thin, and make themselves miserable. I know this sounds wanky, but I would never want to set a bad example, basically."

On someone offering her Botox: "I said, 'I have some lines here under my eye and they're annoying, what can you do?' Isn't that, well, the antithesis of what I'm trying to do as an actress? Only in LA would someone try and give you Botox when you're 25 years old."
On meeting Warren Beatty: "Walking along the beach at Malibu, with him telling me crazy stories about Marilyn Monroe and Natalie Wood. Once you meet him your entire day is Warren. The first time we met I was really nervous, but we hung out for seven hours. He's fascinating. He's been part of this world since before it was celebrity obsessed, since 'famous' had a different meaning . . . It's very equal. He doesn't treat me like a young person."
On being competitive: "I'll be in agony when I watch The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo . . . I auditioned for it, but I didn't get the part."

A Healthy Bite: Kate Hudson

The actress opened up to the magazine while on vacation last month in Europe, and she spoke about her life, work, and family. She also touched on her marriage to Chris Robinson, as well as her budding romance with Muse rocker Matt Bellamy. Kate said:

On Matt Bellamy: "He's lovely."
On someday marrying again: "It's definitely not something I'm looking for. But the divorce doesn't put me off. I'll just see what happens. I think a lot of times people are terrified of love and stop themselves from experiencing it. I don't ever want to get that jaded. I do believe in love. I believe that when you really open yourself up to love, it's the most beautiful thing."
On her work currently: "I have no interest in doing anything right now. I think that happens sometimes. You get burnt out. I have to recharge. Artistically, I have zero competitive nature - to the point where I wish I had a little more sometimes."
On her ex-husband, Chris Robinson: "Chris is a wellspring of information. He knows more about music than anyone I've ever met. I still feel close to him. When you're divorced and raising a child together, the communication has to stay alive. It's hard sometimes. If you have kids with someone, make sure you really, really like the father because, for your child's sake, you have to be on the same page forever. Chris has moved on, he's remarried and had a baby and when you both have new people in your life, you have to really stay on it. I think Chris and I both have that priority checked."
On her favorite song from Matt's band, Muse: "My favourite Muse song? Ha ha ha! I'm not well-versed enough on that. I'm getting there though. Matt and I are just learning about each other and it's wonderful."

On her life when married to Chris: "When I was with Chris, music was my life - I spent seven years on the road. Would I do it again? I wouldn't shy away from a tour bus, it's wonderful. We met when I was 15 and she was 17. Kristen Touches on Robert, Lindsay, and Twilight in Elle UK

Kristen Stewart is currently in Australia promoting Eclipse, but she recently posed for photos included in July's Elle UK - for behind-the-scenes footage of the cover shoot with Kristen, visit elle.tv! She spoke with the magazine exclusively about her work in the series with Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson, and also touched on her excitement about Twilight's success. Kristen also mentioned her good family upbringing as opposed to Lindsay Lohan's, and even touched on her relationship with Robert. She said:

On her relationship with Robert: "People always ask me if I'm dating Robert. It's beyond annoying . . . What I say is, that, why would I want anything that's private to become entertainment for other people? This is what I wanted to show you on here. People say that if I just tell them everything I'll be left alone, but God, you think if I tell people they'll leave me alone? They pick up every little scrap, and that's much worse."
On Twilight growing into a series: "We never thought it was going to be so huge; we never thought we'd do a second, a third. I'm quite nervous about the third one, actually. It's such a privilege to be able to play a role for so long. Also, it's such a product now; it didn't start out as a product. I read the first book and thought, 'Wow, this is a page turner.' There was something in the script - the energy. It's raw desire, that's what that book is. Which is why it's weird that little kids read it. I'm like, 'What are you thinking about when you're reading it?' I thought that it was going to be a really simple, overly dramatic - which was what was attractive about it - rotten love story. When they cast me it wasn't like, 'Omigod, I got this huge movie'; it was like, 'OK, I got this film.' You have to rev up to it."
On her family: "My family are amazing. I had like, the perfect upbringing. It sucks for people like Lindsay, but it's not her fault that she's so off the rails."
On The Runaways: "It was f***ing incredible playing Joan. I had so much fun making that movie. Detail-wise it was really nerve-racking to get her. She's a really dynamic person, and she has so many fans and people that know her distinctly. And musically, she has the weirdest voice. It's cool, but it was really hard to sing like her . . . I smoked sooo much making that film. It will do well in big cities - LA, London, New York - but I’m worried that the suburbs won't get it. Kids my age don’t know who Joan Jett is - well, until now."

On negative press: "It really bothers me when people write nasty s*** about me and the perception is that I don’t give a f***. It could not be further from the truth . . . Your little persona is made up of all the places that people have seen you and what has been said about you, and usually the places that I am are so overwhelming in the moment and fleeting for me - like one second where I've said something stupid, that's me, forever. What you don't see are the cameras shoved in my face and the bizarre intrusive questions being asked, or the people falling over themselves, screaming and taunting to get a reaction. All you see is an actor or a celebrity lit up by a flash. It's so . . . A lot of the time I can’t handle it. It's f***ed. I never expected that this would be my life."
On the Twilight phenomenon: "The Twilight thing is so unique. If I didn’t have that and I was just an actor, my life would be so different. [Twilight] is quite engulfing in its size, but at the same time, it's what you work for."
On having crazed fans: "I have one crazy stalker. It's not worth changing my number for, I’m pretty certain that it's some girl who got my number from someone I went to school with who's like, 'I've got Kristen Stewart's number.'"

Kate Hudson Slims Down For New Role

Kate Hudson dishes the skinny on weight loss, Botox, and A-rod in the December issue of Elle UK, which hits newsstands this week. The already slim star has to lose 20 lbs. for her upcoming role as a terminally ill patient in the new film, Earthbound. Though she's not exactly sure of her exact weight, the mother of one thinks she's heading towards 110 pounds - pretty tiny given she's 5 ft. 6 in. tall.

How does an already slim and healthy girl like Kate get that tiny? Give up alcohol, apparently. It seems that Ms. Hudson is a fan of knocking a few back. "I love my glass of wine. I love tequila," says the star. "To be in New York for two weeks and not have one beverage! I'm not sure I've ever done that."

Given how many calories and sugar alcohol contains it makes sense that the sacrifice worked for her.

I think Kate looks great au naturel, but when the time is right she might get a little help to keep her youthful glow. "Everyone’s so obsessed with who gets Botox, but it’s great! Are you kidding? The fact that women can avoid going under the knife and get a little Botox treat and not have to worry about it? I’m glad it’s there for when it’s time."

For now, Kate is crossing her fingers that her Yankee man will find victory at this year's World Series.
