John Mayer proved to be the main attraction at last night's STARS benefit gala in LA. He cracked a few jokes from the podium, before whipping out his guitar to perform some of his new music that you guys are loving. He was rolling solo for the evening, despite the recent rumors about his romancing Rashida Jones that her publicist denied and of course the ongoing Jennifer Aniston reports.

He performed at a Children's Hospital in NY as part of a live broadcast and auction for a local radio station yesterday. John also talked to the kids and signed autographs, along with a few other celebs like Rob Thomas.
Ryan Gosling Is Too Cool For a Guitar Case
Ryan Gosling stepped out of his car and into the LA sunshine yesterday carrying a guitar over his shoulder. He's been a jazz guitarist for years, and his brown sunglasses only added to his rock star look. Ryan seems to be all about music these days, from his DJ gigs to his jam sessions, but hopefully he'll get back to movies soon since the big screen is where we love to see him shine.
Maybe Engaged Penelope Steps Out with a Ring and a Smile
Penelope Cruz looked beautiful in her black lace dress walking into Michael's restaurant in NYC last night. She was sporting a sparkly ring on her left hand, which we've seen before but could have more significance now that most of us are starting to believe rumors she's engaged to Javier Bardem. We wouldn't expect an official announcement from the private couple, nor did she do more than evasively deny the stories that she was expecting.

John Mayer was out with guitar in hand early Sunday morning to shoot a music video overlooking Los Angeles. Minka Kelly was there to support her boy (maybe she'll make a cameo?) so I guess any rumors of dirty dancing with Cameron or hitting on Ricki Lake are no skin off her back. Fresh of scoring a Grammy nod for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, John performed a one-night-only acoustic show in LA over the weekend.

Yeah, that's not palindrome, is it? John Mayer looked in slightly better spirits as he got dropped off at LAX yesterday, tipping his limo driver with a skip in his step as he entered the terminal. He may not be smiling from ear to ear, but at least he doesn't look like he really really needs a hug.
