Guy Ritchie Still Loves Madonna, but Thinks She's "Retarded" - Interesting or Over It?

It's been almost exactly a year since Guy Ritchie and Madonna split and he recently talked about his ex wife during an interview with Esquire. Last week, Madonna called her marriage "the Bush years" and made jokes about all her subsequent romances.

Guy's been comparatively quiet about their divorce, but he opened up about his mixed feelings towards Madonna, revealing the fiercely competitive nature that drives her. He describes her saying:

"She's a manifester, if there ever was one. First-rate manifester. Madonna makes things happen. Put Madonna up against any twenty-three-year-old, she'll outwork them, outdance them, outperform them. The woman is broad. And, of course, here you go: I still love her. But she's retarded, too."

Kate Parties For Woman of the Year Lily at GQ Awards

Kate Moss and Lily Allen had each other for support at last night's GQ Men of the Year Awards in London. The good friends posed for the cameras, though Kate also had Jamie Hince as her date for the evening following a busy few days together. Guy Ritchie and Eva Mendes chatted at their side-by-side seats, while Freida Pinto was without her boyfriend Dev Patel after spending their weekend side-by-side. Kate presented Lily with the Woman of the Year statue, and put on a bit of a show in her short dress having her own fun throughout the night.

The Sherlock Holmes Cast Investigates More Without Brad Pitt

Robert Downey Jr. and Rachel McAdams were both in suspenders earlier today as they reported back to the London set of Sherlock Holmes. Jude Law was also on hand to continue work on the film, after studio bosses requested that additional scenes be added. These late changes will not, however, affect the release date of the film which is still slated to come out at the end of this year. Rumors that Brad Pitt was to join the cast were quickly shot down yesterday, leaving the original actors to finish up on their own.

Harry Potter Draws a Royal Crowd For the London Premiere

The cast of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince braved the London rain for their premiere yesterday. Helen Bonham Carter showed off her castle purse, though Emma Watson stole the show in her gorgeous gown. As avid fans of all ages - including Guy Ritchie and Rocco - were treated to one of the movie's first showings, here in the states we'll have to wait until next week to check out the latest installment of the franchise.

Mercy Fits Right Into Madonna and Guy's London Life

Madonna gave her daughter Mercy a piggyback ride out of London's Kabbalah center on Saturday. Mercy already had a little red string on her wrist for services with her new siblings and Guy Ritchie after a week of fun times with their family. As she gets used to life with Madonna, her grandmother back in Malawi has spoken out about missing her. Mercy is helping put a smile on Madonna's face, though, especially as the singer deals with her friend Michael Jackson's death.

Madonna's Mercy Joins Her New Family in London

Mercy arrived in London from Malawi via private jet just in time to join her family for Kabbalah services on Saturday in London. Even Guy Ritchie helped welcome Madonna's new addition before taking Rocco and David for the weekend. Mercy looked adorable in her pink dress outside of Madonna's apartment yesterday morning, though she's understandably a little confused by all of the attention. Hopefully, it won't be long before she settles into her new life, starting with some bonding time with her mom and sister.

Kate Moss Turns It Up to 11 on Charity Stage in London

Kate Moss hit the stage with panache last night as she performed for the crowd at the Hoping's Got Talent fundraiser in London. The supermodel was decked out in black as she headed home after vacation in Nice with Jamie Hince and Lily Allen yesterday, well rested before writhing on stage accompanied by Pink Floyd guitarist Dave Gilmour. Her man Jamie Hince also showcased his talents while Lily Allen sang. The event benefited Palestinian refugees, and it looks like the attendees including Sienna Miller, Sadie Frost, Guy Ritchie, and more got more than their money's worth. Amazingly, Kate Moss was such a blossoming rock star that she was up and at 'em today for Sadie's birthday lunch.

Madonna and Kids Return to England and Supportive Guy

Madonna and her children left Malawi yesterday and touched down in Heathrow, where they were greeted by Guy Ritchie. David Banda carried his new toy guitar as dad lifted him up and carried him to the awaiting helicopter. On Friday after Madonna's adoption request was denied, Guy issued a statement saying he "fully supported" Madonna's attempts at adopting Mercy, was "saddened" at the rejection, and described her as a "fantastic and loving mother." Despite heading back to the UK, Madonna filed an appeal soon after the ruling in Malawi, and it sounds like she has an ally in Guy if she needs it.

Madonna Gets the Kids and Jesus

Madonna and Guy Ritchie spent a lot of time praying at the Kabbalah center in NYC this weekend. They were spotted twice heading to the center among the news that Madonna has won custody of Rocco and David. The case is still being finalized but Madonna will be bringing the boys to NYC for school and they will divide their time between her and Guy. He will be able to watch them while she extends her tour this Summer. While all seems civil, Madonna likes to keep us guessing. As A-Rod's divorce became finalized this weekend, Madonna stepped out with her newer younger man, Jesus Luz. Her new boy toy was seen running errands and eating with Madonna, David and Lourdes who looks so grownup and stylish these days.

RDJ Googles Himself and Loves Making Blockbusters

Robert Downey Jr. and Guy Ritchie looked very chummy on the set of Sherlock Holmes in Brooklyn yesterday. It was a big day for RDJ getting an Oscar nomination for Tropic Thunder about which he said, "It just shows you how far everyone in entertainment and politics has come." Robert also recently sat down with some fellow nominees for Newsweek's annual roundtable discussion. RDJ was his usual charming self:

On googling himself: Oh, I love all that s--, personally. Sorry. I love just it. Because it's a hoot. Some people overstate their support, like they know you. Other people are busy doing something else and just want to go on this chat site and say some despicable character assassination, which I honestly think they kind of nailed it. I do have that shortcoming. It's really fun.
On his career recently: I grew up in a filmmaking family, and my dad was doing maverick underground independent stuff at the time of Cassavetes, so the Mike Leigh approach was nothing new to me. If your movie made money, you were eyed suspiciously by your peers. But then the counterpoint to that, it became so about the art, things got further and further out, there was no containment for it. That to me was the first death of independent moviemaking. I'll be on the sets, we're shooting "Iron Man" and we're in the desert, and I looked up and there's a sandstorm, and I just had the ah-ha moment. Gratitude would be the wrong word. But being able to do this is kind of inexplicable. It's the sense that I'm at my purpose. I'm not very popular about this, and the misses tells me to keep it on the QT, but lately for me, the biggest most commercial generic projects that I've done are the most creatively satisfying, and the ones that the audiences respond to. And I jump off and do an indie, and they can't hit their ass with both hands, it's 50 monkeys f---ing a football, and then you have to go and pump your kidneys dry in Sundance. What's next, f---king Shakespeare in the park for the pagans for three months?

Yesterday Robert also mentioned how glad he is to see comedies getting recognized by the Academy, which is something we're also excited about.
