Jul 21 2007 - 8:18am The cast of Hairspray has been promoting their film like crazy! Yesterday they performed on The Today Show. There has been a lot of hype and apparently it's very entertaining.
i hate musicals and didn't like the original of this movie. i can't stand the melodrama of it all. and that guy (girl?) zac efron or whatever his name is needs to not wear so much makeup.
i loved the original so much that i'm not sure if i want to see the musical. i'm from baltimore i'm also still having a hard time dealing with the fact that they didn't film it here....come
on, toronto?? I do want to see John Travolta in it though.
i already saw it and i loved it nikki was soo good for her first
time acting/singing/dancing. as well was everyone else. i enjoyed john travolta as edna especially
i already saw it!!! lol And apparently so far I'm the only one (who's commented at least) that was really stoked about it! I loved the original, and I love the Broadway musical...and I just
love musicals in general. I'm not a big fan on remakes, especially since the Broadway musical was already a remake, but i got over it. lol
I saw it yesterday afternoon and loved it!! I had seen the Broadway musical and therefore was familiar with the music and caught myself mouthing the words of the songs..Nikki Blonsky was
incredible as Tracy and the rest of the cast was wonderful too..I am definitely gonna go see it again!!
not sure if i want to see it this weekend..probably would rather see it in a month to really find out how it went...too much info here about premieres all over the country got me a bit
Wasn't too excited about it at first and all the promotion they have been doing gets annoying but it seems like everyone who has seen it so far has loved it. I might check it out.
I saw it yesterday and it was much better than I thought it would be. The Broadway version is still better, as are the Broadway voices versus Hollywood voices...but if you are unsure, you
need to see it for the guy who plays Seaweed- he is AMAZING!!!
It's a cute, happy movie with a point. It's just nice to see a uplifting and fun show for those of us who still like to use movies to be entertained and as an escape. And not a movie that is
made mainly on the computer.
Of the musicals turned into movies, it's better than Chicago I think as it clearly makes fun of itself and is so cheesy that it makes you smile. Far better than Rent or The Producers as
movies as well.
I will admit, I will never understand why Edna Turnblad has to be played by a man, especially since she's a female character...but you forget about it and enjoy the show for what it is. Nikki
is absolutely adorable and her ability to just look so dreamy, enduring, tolerant and strong is evident. She's so short and cute with these big eyes...seriously, she's very good.
My only complain is that Amanda Byrnes (sp?) really didn't do as good of a job or wasn't as developed of a character as she is in the broadway show. Oh, and that Mamma I'm a Big Girl Now was
not in the show..
I saw it yesterday! Too much music and that despite the fact that I loved the song... Just hard to follow the story when they keep singing.
But happy-dappy-cutesy, I liked it.
I loved the first movie so I am excited about seeing this one...I won't see it this weekend though b/c I will toooo busy reading the final book in the Potter series.

7It's not my cup of tea but I have friends who love song and dance and they're pretty psyched to go see this.

16I'm not too excite either and I'm a little wary of the lead girl. She annoys me.
17I'm boycotting all unnecessary remakes!

31I saw it yesterday! Too much music and that despite the fact that I loved the song... Just hard to follow the story when they keep singing.

33I loved the first movie so I am excited about seeing this one...I won't see it this weekend though b/c I will toooo busy reading the final book in the Potter series.
34I saw it last night and I thought it was pretty good. Any scene with John Travolta was awkward though.
