The stars of last night's American Music Awards hit the red carpet before heading inside LA's Nokia Theatre for the main event. Janet Jackson kicked things off with an energetic eight minute performance, and the evening's first award then went to the Black Eyed Peas. The Black Eyed Peas went on to take the stage to do "Boom Boom Pow" with a special Nirvana twist.

Halle Berry flashed a smile as she ran errands in LA yesterday, but this evening we'll see her more serious side on the NBC Nightly News. In the segment, Halle shared her own experience with domestic violence while talking about her work with the Jenesse Center in LA, saying, "My mother was a battered woman and that was my childhood for a good chunk of it...Early on in my life, I made choices, and I chose men that were abusive because that was what I knew growing up." Halle has come a long way in speaking out about her own difficult past and recently finding happiness with Gabriel and Nahla.

Matt Damon lived up to his reputation as one of the nicest guys in Hollywood, signing autographs for fans with a smile at LAX on Saturday. We're not the only ones who appreciate Matt — he's been chosen to receive a lifetime achievement honor at the American Cinematheque Awards next year. His career isn't winding down, however, especially with a few movies coming out before the end of 2009 and work on his next project underway already.

Eva Longoria and Andie MacDowell posed together yesterday as the two gorgeous faces of L'Oreal Paris, which was celebrating its 100th anniversary and received a friend of the Walk of Fame award in LA. The ladies were joined by relative newcomer to the brand and the villainess from this past season of Weeds, Kate del Castillo. Last week, Eva headed to Capitol Hill for a more political mission and she tackles all her projects with that famous smile on her face.

Rihanna received a bouquet of flowers on her way out of a NYC recording studio yesterday as she finishes up work on her new album before its November 23 release. First up is her debut single, which premiered this morning on Ryan Seacrest's radio show. For "Russian Roulette," she paired up with Ne-Yo for a ballad that touches on some somber subjects.

Paris Hilton proudly posed on the red carpet at the Fox Reality Channel Really Awards in LA last night. Paris wore a daring one-shoulder dress for the show — are you loving or hating her look? She took home the year's Innovator Award, happily tweeting afterwards about her excitement.

Most of you were missing the Golden Globes as much as we were last night, and one of the biggest letdowns was that we couldn't see our favorite stars accept their trophies. It seems that Johnny Depp was also sad about missing the opportunity to make an acceptance speech, and decided to release a full statement thanking his family, friends and co-stars for his first ever Golden Globe win.
Johnny is obviously very appreciative of his first Golden Globe, but he's still giving thanks for another gift he received last year.
