Will The Dark Knight Sweep the Awards It's Nominated For?

Christian Bale and Aaron Eckhart proudly showed off their trophies after The Dark Knight took home five out of five People's Choice Awards last night, including Best Movie of the Year. The film will be up for more honors tonight at the Critics' Choice Awards and again on Sunday at the Golden Globes. We'll have to wait a few more weeks to hear about Oscar nods, but tell us - do you think The Dark Knight will sweep the awards it's nominated for?

Sugar Bits - Morgan Freeman in Serious Car Accident

Morgan Freeman was involved in a car accident last night in Mississippi. He was driving when he may have fallen asleep at the wheel, losing control and causing his car to roll over three times. He and an unidentified female passenger were airlifted to a hospital in Memphis. A source says he is sitting up and talking. - TMZ
Christina Applegate has been diagnosed with a non-life threatening form of breast cancer and is being treated with the expectation of a full recovery. - E! Online

The Dark Knight Presses On Overseas

The stars of The Dark Knight came out early in Tokyo this morning to keep the Batman mania going overseas. Christian Bale and Maggie Gyllenhaal showed off their smiles, while Aaron Eckhart looked a little serious after the big premiere last night. As usual, Christian made sure to pay homage to his dear friend Heath Ledger, saying, "I enjoyed very much our first scene together . . . because it was the first time I got to see what Heath was really going to do . . . Also, you could see how much he got [by] playing this character. He really got satisfaction out of it." With his tragic passing still fresh in our minds, it's beautiful to see that Heath is very much a part of one of the last movies he poured his heart into.

Christian, Maggie and Aaron Bring their No. 1 Knight to Tokyo

Christian Bale was a lucky man with his two beautiful girls - wife Sibi and adorable daughter Emmeline - arriving in Japan over the weekend before tonight's Tokyo premiere. While the cast showed off yet another set of suits and dresses, their Batman movie was still firmly planted at the top of the box office. The Dark Knight was no. 1 at the box office again, breaking the $300 million barrier and the record for a film's second weekend. Meanwhile, Bale's co-workers are making sure to clear up any residual rumors about his bad behavior starting with Terminator Salvation director McG who said, "He's the most professional, passionate actor you're ever going to find. I mean it's just that simple. . . . Bale is just all about the work. He loves his wife, he loves his child, he loves being an actor. . . . He wants to come to work prepared."

Christian and Maggie Light Up The Dark Knight in Barcelona

Christian Bale seemed to put his very public recent troubles behind him as he made his way down the red carpet with his wife Sibi at the Barcelona premiere of The Dark Knight yesterday evening. Bale apparently avoided reporters but spent lots of time signing autographs - he even had a bit of a smile on his face. His co-stars Maggie Gyllenhaal and Aaron Eckhart also made the trip over from the UK to attend the Spanish screening. As it gets ready to hit screens overseas, the film continues to smash records. After being out only five days, it just passed Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead's Man Chest as the fastest movie to net $200 million. It has also already made more than Batman Begins did in its entire run - pretty incredible.

The Dark Knight Brings Gotham to London

After spending the weekend with their adorable little girl, leading man Christian Bale had his gorgeous wife on his arm at the London premiere of The Dark Knight. Gorgeous Maggie sexed it up in her revealing jumpsuit but maintained the all black dress code, as did Kelly Osbourne who still showed off some leg. After the amazing record-breaking opening weekend success the movie enjoyed in the states this weekend, we'll have to see how its magic translates overseas. From the looks of it though, The Dark Knight's reign has just begun.

The Dark Knight Falls on NYC

The long anticipated premiere of The Dark Knight finally arrived last night, and the stars dressed accordingly to the movie's title. Maggie Gyllenhaal, Blake Lively, and Lauren Conrad all looked gorgeous in muted tones, while Christian Bale continued to prove that he looks hot in any color. Of course, there was one very important star missing but Heath Ledger's family and friends like Naomi Watts were there in his place, while his castmates had plenty to say in tribute to the late actor. Christian said,

"Working with Heath was fantastic. He steals the movie and I'm quite happy to say that. He's a hell of a talent and created a joker that's very iconic and one that will become a classic portrayal of the ages."

While the film's premiere was a bittersweet event, the rave reviews will hopefully make The Dark Knight the box office smash hit that will help honor Heath's memory forever.
