Blake and Robin Have the Stars of Nine Supporting Pippa Lee

The leading ladies of The Private Lives of Pippa Lee hit the red carpet in NYC on Saturday evening. Blake Lively didn't address rumors she's going into business with Victoria Beckham as she smiled for the cameras, while her boyfriend Penn Badgley mingled with fellow Gossip Girl actor Chace Crawford behind the scenes. Robin Wright Penn, meanwhile, showed off her new dark hairdo as she posed alongside Julianne Moore and Keanu Reeves. The film's writer and director, Rebecca Miller, brought along her husband Daniel Day-Lewis. He, in turn, was accompanied by a few of his costars in Nine, like Penelope Cruz and Marion Cotillard. Both films hit the box office in the coming weeks, but it looks like the two casts have nothing but support for each other.

Blake Hits the Beach, Leaves Serena in NYC

Guess whose newest movie role is looking very different from the one she plays on TV? Blake Lively went from playing an Upper East Side princess on Gossip Girl to a more sulky and way less fashionable character on the set of her new film, The Private Lives of Pippa Lee in Connecticut yesterday. We’re so used to seeing Blake in a droolworthy wardrobe from her show and when casually strolling the city with Penn that she is almost unrecognizable in these pictures. It will be interesting to see her act in a different role, but we'll have to wait a while before this movie hits theaters.

Blake Lively's February cover of Esquire is out, coinciding perfectly with the news that she won the female lead opposite Ryan Reynolds in The Green Lantern. There was a rather public casting process for the coveted role, with established actresses like Jennifer Garner, Diane Kruger, and Keri Russell allegedly also in the running.

Blake Lively became a household name due to her small screen work in Gossip Girl, though she's starting to cross over into major film territory with her latest role and appearances in The Town and The Private Lives of Pippa Lee. It might be hard to stop seeing Blake as Serena van der Woodsen - even Blake herself says, "I can snap into Serena very easily . . . the way I dress as Serena is pretty much the way I dress as me. The cast of Gossip Girl spread out all over NYC yesterday. Taylor Momsen was dressed up to film alongside Chace Crawford, who was back on set after turning out to support Blake Lively at a screening of The Private Lives of Pippa Lee over the weekend. It was Ed Westwick's turn to get fancy last night, when he joined girlfriend Jessica Szohr at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards. The ceremony tends to bring out fashion's heavy hitters, and Ed and Jess spent their evening celebrating Sophie Theallet's win among models and designers. Meanwhile, last night's WTF moment-filled episode featured the Lady Gaga cameo you were looking forward to, as well the usual gorgeous interiors, beauty, and fashion.

Fergie, Nicole, Penelope, Marion, and Kate Are Five of the Nine

The many stars of Nine reunited in NYC today as they gear up to launch a press blitz before their film hits theaters on Dec. 18. Penelope Cruz and Marion Cotillard were spotted heading out of their hotel solo, just a few days after posing together at the weekend premiere of The Private Lives of Pippa Lee. Nicole Kidman traveled to the Big Apple after a recent trip with Keith to Nashville, the place she says they love raising daughter Sunday. Fergie, meanwhile, was fresh off her appearance on Saturday Night Live with the Black Eyed Peas and a date night with her husband Josh, though he's already out on Long Island working on The Romantics with Katie Holmes. Kate Hudson also stepped out into the sunshine this afternoon, as she gets ready to switch gears from supportive girlfriend to leading lady.

Blake Lively Opens Up About Her Private Lives in Marie Claire

Blake Lively showed off a selection of sexy black bras for December's Marie Claire. It's been a busy year for the star, as she juggled her day job on Gossip Girl with film projects like The Town. Blake opened up to the magazine about her TV show and another of her movies, The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, also sharing a little about her personal style. Here's more:

On her first day on set with Maria Bello: "I was honestly terrified. I hadn't slept that much, and all I wanted that day was for Maria to say, 'Wow, great job.' And when she didn't say anything to me, I thought, Oh, my gosh, I'm terrible. She hates it. She's calling her agent, saying, 'What have you gotten me into?' But once we finished filming, she was so complimentary and sweet. The way Maria worked was very method, and then [costar] Julianne Moore was the complete opposite - between takes, she was a nice, normal mom talking about her kid's baseball games."
On Serena van der Woodsen: "As a character, I get to be this wild, outgoing person that I'm so not. I think it all comes from being the youngest of five. I was always observing my siblings and hearing stories about their lives that turned out to be helpful as an actress."
On her personal style: "Living in New York, I feel stronger and more like a woman than ever before. In high school, it was like, what power do I have - I have long blond hair, you know? But working as hard as I do now, I feel a sense of power and respect, too. And I've learned an incredible amount about fashion on Gossip Girl. Clothes are a personal expression, and my style is as ever-changing as I am: I'm growing, maturing, developing, I'm going through new things in my life, and with that, what I choose to wear changes."

Blake and Diane Have a Fine Night Out For Chanel

Winona Shares A Lot About Her Private Life

Winona Ryder sat down for a photo shoot and chatted about her life in the latest issue of BlackBook magazine. She has a film, The Private Lives of Pippa Lee to promote, but Winona had plenty of other things to discuss. Winona talked about a variety of topics, from her famous exes like Matt Damon and Johnny Depp to her feelings about Angelina Jolie winning the Oscar for Girl, Interrupted. Here's more:

On dating Johnny Depp: "Things changed for me when I met Johnny. This weird thing happens when you’re written about in magazines, where you start to think, 'This is who I am. This is how I have to be.' I felt restricted and pressured into being the way people perceived me. It was hard for me to find my footing. The Johnny thing made me really afraid of the press because, even though it was about him, I was beside him the entire time."
On her relationship with Matt Damon: "Matt couldn’t be a greater, nicer guy. I’m really lucky that I’m on good terms with him. . . With Johnny, it’s like we’re good, but we lead very different lives. I was out at a bar with a friend who said, 'Do you realize that in America you’re never going to be able to meet a guy who knows nothing about you? Everyone will have preconceived ideas about who you are.' I got so bummed out. I’d never really thought about it that way."
On knowing Angelina Jolie since Girl, Interrupted: "I never had any bad feelings about Angelina. . . And I was hurt that people thought that. Everyone assumed I was really jealous because I thought this would be my vehicle. . . We said from the very beginning that the actress who played Lisa would probably win an Oscar, because it was the big, great, showy part. But I always related to Susanna. I fought very hard for her to have that part, and I never really felt like I got the chance to know her."

Blake Lively looked lovely in her backless white dress at the Swarovski Crystallized party in NYC last night. She was joined by Lucy Liu, Chloe Sevigny, and Evan Rachel Wood, who all checked out the new store. There are some new surprises waiting when Blake gets back to filming Gossip Girl - like the addition of JoAnna Garcia to the cast - but for now she's focused on her movie The Private Lives of Pippa Lee. Blake said she felt like she fooled the executives when she got the part, and we'll see a new side of the actress when it is released on July 10.
