Scarlett, Eva, and Jamie Have Spirit, Yes They Do

The Spirit whisked into LA last night for another red carpet premiere. Eva Mendes continued to look stunning in color while Scarlett stuck with neutrals, letting her hair do the talking. As usual, no Mr. Reynolds to go along with his Mrs., but even so they're some of our favorite newlyweds of the year. Earlier this week we got a peek at Scarlett and Samuel L. Jackson's rapport, and it looks like the red carpet was one more night of the Lucy and Ricky show. Jaime King looked all wrapped up like a present as all the beautiful women showed off their comic book movie due out Christmas Day.

The Spirit Moves to London With Scarlett and Eva

Scarlett Johansson and Eva Mendes continued their The Spirit press tour, stopping off in London last night. The dynamic duo was joined by costar Samuel L. Jackson and director Frank Miller for this red carpet and it looks like this group isn't sick of each other yet. Scarlett and Eva are both already showing off an impressive dress collection, even if the new Mrs. Reynolds is half of your second favorite newlyweds of 2008, she doesn't need her hot husband to make a hot appearance.

Scarlett and Her Costars Get Into The Spirit

Scarlett Johansson posed for a photo call for The Spirit in Madrid today - what do you think of her new hair color? As usual, her hot husband Ryan wasn't by her side, but she had the company of her gorgeous costars Eva Mendes and Paz Vega. There were plenty of smiles to go around even without the male counterparts of the cast, but maybe we'll see a bigger turnout for promotional events when we get closer to the Christmas release date of the comic book film.

Hollywood Gets Independent and Spirited Before the Oscars

Before we were overcome with Oscar mania, lots of stars headed to the Independent Spirit Awards in LA on Saturday. After the exciting red carpet, the show was full of parodies and dance numbers featuring Teri Hatcher, Christina Applegate and Rainn Wilson goofing it up onstage. The Wrestler was a big winner, taking home honors for Best Film as well as Best Male Lead. Mickey Rourke gave an off-the-cuff acceptance speech, dedicated to his recently deceased dog Loki. Other winners like Penelope Cruz and James Franco celebrated with their trophies in the press room. Mary-Kate Olsen and Ben Kingsley were two of the many famous presenters along with Jessica Alba, Lucy Liu and the newly engaged Claire Danes. Elizabeth Banks and a scruffy Bradley Cooper also took the stage to present. This awards show honored films that cost less than $20 million to make but gave the stars a preview of what was to come on Oscar Sunday.

The Men and the Women Stay Casual at the Spirit Awards

The women at the Independent Spirit Awards looked beautiful but kept things more casual with their shorter dresses for the afternoon event. Anne Hathaway shined in her off-white dress with feminine details as many other actresses showed off their flirty styles. Cameron Diaz rocked the stripes, as did Michelle Williams in her sleeveless dress with pockets. Mary-Kate stood out with her shoulder pads and long sleeves and the award-winning Penelope Cruz - who had a run in with ex Tom Cruise the night before - look perfect in a frilly hemmed brown dress.

Meanwhile, the men ranged from jeans to suits, but still looked handsome as usual. James Franco didn't manage to shave for the event but wore his pinstripes proudly. Aaron Eckhart, Emile Hirsch and Blair Underwood sported the denim look while Mickey Rourke had fun running around the blue carpet chatting with everyone. Leftover Spirit Awards Goodies

Hollywood was not only able to squeeze another big awards show in this weekend, but it had quite a turnout. The Spirit Awards celebrate everything in independent movies that otherwise may be looked over by the box office or other award shows. This year the big winner was Little Miss Sunshine, which took home four prizes including best picture! Oscar nominee Ryan Gosling also won for best leading actor. Nothing beats an Oscar but we're sure a Spirit Award takes the sting out of losing! Don't forget to check out the complete list of winners from the evening.

Stars Show Their Independent Spirit

Before the Oscars rushed in, Hollywood celebrated at the Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday night. Angelina's baby bump was the talk of the town, but Cate Blanchett was the only mommy-to-be to take home a trophy. The Independently Spirited Gather in Pre-Oscar Excitement

While the weekend's big event is just hours away, last night's Independent Spirit Awards brought out some big names and one very talked-about baby bump. You know, ICYMI, Angelina Jolie showed off that she is indeed pregnant on the arm of Brad Pitt/Robert Redford (just saying). Sienna looked very happy to be up for best leading actress, but lost to Ellen Page whose Juno also won best feature film. Check out all the winners here. Eva Mendes is apparently out of rehab and red carpet ready while, swoon, Keri and Shane are so my new favorite celebrity couple. Javier and Ellen were unintentional red carpet twinsies - who wore it better? We'll see if tonight's a repeat performance for the two Oscar nominees. No more ambiguous and flowy dresses for Angelina Jolie! She may not have sold her pregnancy announcement and given the money to charity in the end, but I'm going to go ahead and say this is a confirmation. Angelina showed off that baby bump at the Independent Spirit Awards today in Santa Monica.
