Spike Directs Brad's Sumo Strength
Brad Pitt held a sumo wrestler in his arms while filming his Japanese Softbank commercial in NYC yesterday. Spike Jonze joined him on set, adding another dose of star power to what looks like a pretty funny commercial. Brad's known around Hollywood for being a prankster, and from seeing these photos, this new advertisement seems like it's right up his alley.

Winners and Stars Spread Out the Afterparty Love
After the Oscars were all the afterparties, and while Vanity Fair and Elton John may have drawn the most star-studded crowds, there seemed to be a celebrity attendee at all of them. Hilary Duff swung by Leeza Gibbons's 1st Annual Night to Make a Difference where she was joined by Paris Hilton and Jessica Biel, who was out of her worst-dressed contending gown and into something more bright. Elsewhere in town Lauren Conrad and Lo Bosworth walked the red carpet at a party benefiting Children Uniting Nations.
Hollywood Gets Independent and Spirited Before the Oscars
Before we were overcome with Oscar mania, lots of stars headed to the Independent Spirit Awards in LA on Saturday. After the exciting red carpet, the show was full of parodies and dance numbers featuring Teri Hatcher, Christina Applegate and Rainn Wilson goofing it up onstage. The Wrestler was a big winner, taking home honors for Best Film as well as Best Male Lead.
Sean Penn Talks Politics in the Press Room
Sean Penn passionately spoke about Milk's importance and message onstage and he continued his heartfelt thanks from the press room. He talked about Obama's need to examine his official stance on gay marriage, since the change will come, and says he hopes that the president's current stance is not a "felt one." He also spoke a bit about what it meant to take part in the project, and about his fellow nominee Mickey Rourke:

Tom Goes From Dave to Ryan to Talk About Valkyrie
Tom Cruise made time to sign autographs before heading to The Late Show in NYC last night as he continued to promote Valkyrie after its premiere on Monday night. Dave and Tom took a trip down memory lane, looking at photos of Tom as a high school wrestler, friend of Paul Newman, and of course, a family man. Tom kept talking about his wife and kids this morning on Ryan Seacrest's radio show, where he opened up about Katie's birthday, their holiday plans, and Suri.
