As the Writers Guild votes on the new agreement reached with Hollywood producers, some of the striking writers with producing responsibilities are back at work today, while (pending approval of the contract) everyone else should resume work Wednesday. Sugar Bits - The Writers' Strike May Be Over Soon!

The striking writers may be back at work on Monday, as studio heads and the Writers Guild are close to formalizing a new three-year contract. Some shows, like Grey's Anatomy and The Office, will probably return to air in the late Spring, while other more complicated production shows, like Heroes, will resume in the Fall. The Directors Guild of America avoided a strike of their own by reaching a deal with the Association of Motion Picture and Television Producers regarding how they are paid when content is purchased online. After leaving Cedars-Sinai on Saturday, Britney Spears went to Palms Springs and then popped up in Santa Barbara with Adnan Ghalib, grabbing Starbucks in the afternoon before spending the evening at a bungalow, where they were spotted sharing a lollipop while Britney smoked with no pants on. Big win for Barack Obama last night at the Iowa caucus. He won with 38 percent followed by John Edwards and Hilary Clinton. On the Republican side Mike Huckabee beat Mitt Romney, despite the former Massachusetts governor out spending the Arkansas one by millions of dollars. Britney may have stole their thunder, but we bet both campaigns are still celebrating right now as they head to New Hampshire. - CNN
Pamela Anderson will be proceeding with her divorce from Rick Salomon after all, as she served him with divorce papers on Dec. 28. Not too shocking considering her solo NYE in that too-revealing dress. - Us Weekly

Jay Leno was scolded by the Writers' Guild yesterday after the monologue he used on Wednesday's show violated their rules. He (a union member) admitted that he wrote it beforehand and did the same thing again last night. Sounds like he may not have much respect for the strike after all. - People
Some details in The Great Debaters, which claims to be based on a true story, were changed in order to make the film more compelling. For example, in the film Denzel's debaters face off against a team from Harvard, but they were actually from USC. Hardly seems like a scandalous lie considering other things Hollywood has fabricated in the past.- Page Six

Late night TV's return last evening met mixed results, as only Letterman and Ferguson were able to use writers and Leno and O'Brien had to go it alone, resulting in Conan showing off Christmas cards and spinning his wedding ring on his desk for as long as he could. Good or bad, it's still nice to have something fresh on TV. - AP
After going on maternity leave in October in preparation for the birth of her son, who was born on Nov. 9, Elisabeth Hasselbeck will return to The View on Monday. It will be interesting to see how things go down when all five hosts are reunited at the table. - ABC
On Tuesday, volleyball star Gabrielle Reece and her husband, surfer Laird Hamilton, welcomed their second child together, a daughter named Brody Jo Hamilton. That is going to be one athletic baby! -People
Recently separated Sean Penn will head the awards jury at the Cannes Film Festival in May. Since his movie Into the Wild got such glowing reviews, Sean seems like a smart choice. - AP
