A curious thing, and some would say a suspicious one, happened on the morning of September 10, 2008. On the floor of the House of Representatives, Members representing districts where the Boeing Company had a heavy presence began cheering and celebrating.

The modern Oscar Campaign is a thing of beauty. Much more than “For Your Consideration” ads and glad-handing at Academy screenings, the modern Oscar campaign is about image, press resources, personal narratives, who’s “turn” it is and oh, yeah, the best performance. The past half-dozen years of Oscar campaigning have elicited enough gossip to keep the tabloids in business for a decade.

The Pentagon should overhaul its pay system to attract and reward the best performers and broaden bonuses for those in critical skills, a far-reaching review of military pay released Wednesday concludes.
The changes would help address the need to recruit the “best and the brightest” despite wartime demands on the force, a shrinking pool of military-eligible recruits and competition from the private sector.

Grammy Award winners Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood are set to hit the road together in '08, a 24-city tour that combines the music of two of the music industry's most powerful performers. "Love, Pain & the whole crazy Carnival Ride Tour," a name that combines the titles of each artist's most recent album; Keith's double platinum #1 debuting Love, Pain & the whole crazy thing and Carrie's recent #1 debut second album Carnival Ride," will feature 12 #1 songs (7 for Urban and 5 from Underwood). Tickets are set to go on sale as of December 1st.

Some of the possible details of Angelina Jolie’s (as yet not officially confirmed) pregnancy are in the new issue of the National Enquirer. The Enquirer is a little shaky on some of the specifics, but according to them Angelina agreed to have another biological child with Brad Pitt before they adopted again. This was mostly at his request.
