Jay-Z’s album sales have experienced a near five-fold boost after his triumphant Glastonbury performance, it has been confirmed.
The rapper’s appearance on the Pyramid Stage at the legendary Somerset festival had provoked much controversy, with many critics citing his booking as the reason for slower ticket sales for this year’s event while Oasis’ Noel Gallagher said a hip-hop artist performing was “wrong”.
But having wowed the Glastonbury crowds on Saturday night - including a tongue-in-cheek cover of Gallagher’s Wonderwall - sales of Jay-Z’s The Black Album have increased by some 480 per cent during and after the festival.

Madonna has scrapped plans for the U.K. premiere of her documentary I Am Because We Are to be held at an English music festival, after tickets for the event failed to sell.
The Holiday hitmaker was reportedly planning to screen her latest documentary, which focuses on the plight of Malawian children, at Britain’s Glastonbury festival later this month.

Yes we have heard the rumors before (Lily Allen back with Ex Ed Simons) but … perhaps Lily Allen has beaten the tabloids to the punch with Facebook? According to an update sent to “friends” of the pair, both have reportedly updated their profiles to show that they are “in a relationship” with each other.
Rumors that the couple were going out again surfaced in the aftermath of this year’s Glastonbury festival, although it seems Facebook beat the papers to the story.

Producer Mark Ronson is convinced Amy Winehouse will soon be back to full health - because performing is speeding her recovery.
The troubled singer has suffered a string of health problems this year, including a stint in rehab, a bout of infectious skin condition impetigo and most recently being diagnosed with traces of deadly lung disease emphysema.
But the Back To Black hitmaker emerged from hospital at the weekend to play at Nelson Mandela’s birthday celebrations in London and at U.K.

The Big Pimpin’ hitmaker, real name Shawn Carter, is currently playing a string of dates across the country, including performances at England’s famous Glastonbury festival and London’s O2 Wireless music event.

Coldplay’s Chris Martin has spoken out in defense of the decision to choose Jay-Z as a Glastonbury headliner.
The singer told BBC Radio 1 that he could not understand why the rapper was causing such controversy.
Jay-Z’s scheduled appearance on the Pyramid Stage on June 28th has attracted much criticism, with some people even blaming him for slow ticket sales.
