Sean Penn has refuted reports he will be biased towards friend Clint Eastwood’s film entry for the Palme D’Or award at this year’s Cannes International Film Festival. The Hollywood star is the 2008 jury president, and has come under fire from internet bloggers who believe he will use his powerful position to ensure Eastwood’s film Changeling will come out on top. Despite an intense effort by director Steven Spielberg, the executive producer George Lucas and Paramount Pictures to keep their highly anticipated sequel out of sight, a handful of Web reviewers have already critiqued the new “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.” The fourth Indiana Jones movie is scheduled to make its debut on Sunday, May 18, at the Cannes Film Festival with an afternoon press screening, and another one at night. On the same day the movie will be screened for the news media and industry insiders at multiple showings in Manhattan and Los Angeles, while other screenings are scheduled around the world. Christian Bale is to play rebel leader John Connor in three sequels to the Terminator franchise, its producers have revealed.
The Welsh-born star, who is soon to be seen in Batman Begins sequel The Dark Knight, has already started shooting the first of those films, Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins. “He’s really an actor’s actor, so we’re very proud,” said Victor Kubicek of film company Halcyon.
