Black scholar's arrest raises profiling questions
By MELISSA TRUJILLO
BOSTON – Police responding to a call about "two black males" breaking into a home near Harvard University ended up arresting the man who lives there — Henry Louis Gates Jr., the nation's pre-eminent black scholar.
Gates had forced his way through the front door because it was jammed, his lawyer said. Colleagues call the arrest last Thursday afternoon a clear case of racial profiling.

Monday night Bill O'Reilly voiced astonishment at a Pew study showing black Americans to be much more engaged in the coverage of Michael Jackson's death "even though Michael Jackson has white children -- and he chose to have white children -- and the face deal, don't even want to get into."
O'Reilly returned to the issue of Jackson and race tonight during a vigorous debate with Columbia University professor Dr. Marc Lamont Hill.

Bow-ow-ow: Obama's painful missteps
Let the new president grow into the job -- but he'd better do it fast!
Plus: Readers ask about everything from talk radio, morality
By Camille Paglia
Dear Camille,
In your column, you say, "President Obama has been ill-served by his advisors and staff."
The primary job requirement of a good senior executive is the ability to judge character and ability, in order to be able to select people to whom responsibilities may be safely delegated.

Why I want to believe Obama
and why it would be foolish to do so
By Kevin Holtsberry Posted in 2008
I didn't watch Obama's speech live - I am focused on his opponent these days - but I have read the transcript. And I will confess that part of me really wants to believe that Obama is the candidate for our times.
