Supporting acting nominees are great because they range from a mind blowing, one or two scene performance (Ruby Dee) to a strong acting presence throughout the whole film (Amy Ryan, Tilda Swinton). This year there is really anyone's game, as there are five fantastic actresses nominated. The nominees are:
Cate Blanchett in I'm Not There
Ruby Dee in American Gangster
Saoirse Ronan in Atonement
Amy Ryan in Gone Baby Gone
Tilda Swinton in Michael Clayton
Prediction
Cate Blanchett.

I saw this one in theaters just after I read the book. It compares pretty well; the book is slightly more convoluted with some more plot twists, but as far as condensing it into two hours, Affleck and Stockard adapted Dennis Lehane’s novel nicely.
Casey Affleck plays Patrick Kenzie, a private investigator that, along with his partner Angie Genarro (Michelle Monaghan), is investigating a missing child case in Boston.

So next week's episode is the one-hour season finale and it focuses on Toby's goodbye party. Yes, he's really leaving DM, apparently.
I'm kind of excited about Toby's replacement: She's going to be played by Amy Ryan, who was nominated for an Oscar for Gone, Baby, Gone.

LONDON — What do Amy Winehouse's flaming beehive and Guy Ritchie's self-inflicted black eye have in common?
Both stories appeared in the pages of Britain's tabloid press. Neither is true.

I saw this movie back in October- I was really looking forward to it, as I love Clint Eastwood films, but couldn’t help but feel pretty let down.
Based on a true story, Angelina Jolie plays Christine Collins, a single working mom in the 1920’s. When her son goes missing, she turns to the LAPD who bring back a boy that she claims is not her child.

I have to say I think I made a really wise decision to read the book, ‘Dead until Dark,’ after the first season of True Blood aired. Because I now understand the grumblings about the series changes, Alan Ball made. In this post I want to discuss the character changes on the book versus the characters on the series.

Directed by Ben Affleck
Starring Casey Affleck, Michelle Monaghan, Morgan Freeman, Ed Harris, Amy Ryan, John Ashton
Patrick Kenzie (Casey Affleck) and Angie Gennaro (Monaghan) are both live-in lovers and partners in a private investigation business in a rough neighborhood in Boston when they are approached by a couple whose 4 year-old niece, Amanda, has been abducted from her home. Amanda's mother, Helene (Ryan), is heartbroken about her missing daughter, but is also a negligent parent and drug-addict who is involved with a dangerous crowd. Helene's brother and sister-in-law want to hire Patrick and Angie to supplement the police investigation, since they think that the locals may trust them more than the police, and may give them more information.
