Annie Lennox has undergone successful spinal surgery for a back injury she sustained in Mexico while attending this month's International AIDS conference, her rep said in a statement Monday.
"The surgery [to release an impinged nerve] went as planned, and Annie is now recuperating at home," said her rep Roger Widynowski. "Annie would like to send her thanks and appreciation to all who have sent their well wishes in the past few days."

I can remember hearing this song on the radio and constantly wondering whether the singer was a male or female - but now I know! I've loved Annie Lennox since the days of the Eurythmics and this song is one of my faves of her single work.

And speaking of Annie Lennox (my previous post), I grew up loving the Eurythmics. I often couldn't spell it, but I love them!
Unfortunately, I couldn't find videos that I could actually embed (let me know if you can!), but here are two of my favorites:

At rehearsals this week for the 36th Annual American Music Awards at the Nokia Theatre, one of the key executives for the show gushed that Sunday night’s broadcast will have 19 performances, a record number: “We called everyone on our dream list and they all said ‘Yes,’ so we just had to make room!” That effusive appraisal was met with a smile and a shrug by graybeard Al Schwartz, a consulting producer who has worked on the show since the Nixon administration.
“Well, it is a great year, but the stars are coming because they need it more than ever. Albums don’t sell like they used to.

Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller are getting rid of all their old handbags, which are probably brand new anyway, and donating them to a good cause.
The women are two among several actresses participating in a celebrity handbag auction to benefit cancer research. Other women include Mischa Barton, Fearne Cotton, Annie Lennox, and Dame Judi Dench, and they're all a part of the Handbag Amnesty Auction to help raise money for Cancer Research UK.
