Colin Farrell said Tuesday that his 4-year-old son James, who has a rare neuro-genetic disorder called Angelman Syndrome, is making progress – and that father and son will be together at the holidays.
The actor, 31, told PEOPLE at a New York screening of his film Cassandra's Dream that James's progress is "good" and stressed that the Angelman is a condition, "not a disease."
With the holidays coming up, Farrell says he's looking forward to some bonding time with James.

This week’s In Touch has a new interview with Colin Farrell in which he talks candidly about being a father and how he proud he is of his son, James, 4 1/2. James has a genetic condition called Angelman Syndrome, which is considered to be rare and is often misdiagnosed as cerebral palsy or autism. People with Angelman Syndrome suffer from developmental and physical delays, speech problems and an inability to speak, and often have epilepsy.

WESTWOOD, California — The nightclub-and-movie-theater-packed neighborhood nestled between Brentwood, Hollywood and UCLA has always served as a playground for excitable young adults, head-turning celebrities and couples looking for love. Colin Farrell is apprehensive about a line in his new movie In Bruges, because his character improperly uses the word “retarded”.
The 31-year-old’s own son James, four, has been diagnosed with the neurogenetic disorder Angelman syndrome, a disability which affects his motor skills. And Farrell insists his son’s condition has made him sensitive to those with special needs, leaving him uneasy about his character’s line that only “retarded” people could enjoy a holiday in Bruges, Belgium.
