Julianna Margulies refuses to return to ER with rest of original cast

In the hey-day of ER, Anthony Edwards, Noah Wyle, Julianna Margulies and George Clooney were the stars of the show. In this, it’s final season, the 15-year running TV show is working hard to bring back that ground breaking original cast. Anthony Edwards was first, Noah Wyle is scheduled, and even George Clooney, who has since become a mega-movie star, is said to have finally agreed to come back for an appearance. Julianna Margulies, whose Nurse Hathaway character was supposed to have been living happily ever after with Clooney’s Dr. Ross, has turned them down however.

Margulies says she feels she left Hathaway “in the best scenario possible” and can’t imagine a better ending for the character.

George Clooney, the Italian villa-dwelling, blockbuster movie-making, and Cary Grant status-approaching George Clooney, can find time in his mega-watt life to come back to the show that made him a household name, but Julianna Margulies has declined? Margulies’ last gig was as the title character on Canterbury’s Law, a show about a lawyer, that was cancelled about as soon as it started. She has one project in post production according to IMDB, and nothing more than guest appearances since that masterpiece of cinema, Snakes On A Plane.

I think the ER writers handled the Anthony Edwards return very well. While Margulies shouldn’t think she’s above a one-episode return to the only reason we know who she is, she really should have just taken the responsibility for believing she’s better than the show rather than half suggesting that the writers would somehow sully the character. I’ve officially decided I’m no longer indifferent to the woman, I just plain don’t like her.

TV buzz has everyone looking at the final episode of E.R. The long running NBC drama checks out after this season and now it appears that two of the shows biggest stars will give fans a glimpse of the past. Life & Style Weekly reports, “Not only will George Clooney return as Dr. Doug Ross for one final episode of E.R., he’ll be joined by Julianna Margulies, who played love interest Nurse Carol Hathaway during the show’s first six seasons.”

The report adds that the two will be filming their scenes tomorrow and Friday at the Warner Bros. set in LA. While one would expect fans to get quite a jolt out of the one last shot, it appears that everyone is excited.

A show insider tells Life & Style that the return of the two original cast members has caused quite a buzz on the set. “They are the last two of the original cast to make one last appearance,” the insider says. “It’s part of an effort to wrap up all of the original characters’ story lines.”

George and Julianna’s episode is expected to air at the end of February during sweeps week, the insider tells Life & Style.

As most of you hoped, George Clooney will be returning to ER for one more episode. He is filming with his love interest Julianna Margulies today and tomorrow in LA, and it is expected to air in February.

It's a return we've waited for to happen. The Episode with the Return Of Doug Ross and Carol Hathaway will air sometime during the February Sweeps for NBC!!)

Julianna Margulies Quietly Gets Married

Former E.R. star Julianna Margulies quietly married Keith Lieberthal in Massachusetts last weekend, her rep confirms.

Margulies, 41, who is about seven months pregnant, wore a white Narciso Rodriguez gown and Lieberthal wore a black Armani suit at their Nov. 10 wedding in Lenox, Mass.

The baby, due in mid-January, will be the first for the couple. The actress recently told PEOPLE at a premiere she's "doing great."

Margulies's latest professional project is the new TV show Canterbury's Law.
