The always outspoken Michael Moore has graced us with a blog about his support for Barack Obama. He's not able to vote in the primary this season, so he wants those who can to cast a vote on his behalf for Obama. The blog entry is way too long, so we've cut it down to its juiciest parts.

I was awakened to a pleasant surprise on my radio alarm this morning - the soothing, dulcinous voice of Michael Moore. It's always great listening to Mike, because he's a true Man of the People, a blue-collar hero for blue-collar America. Sure, he hasn't worked a day's worth of hard labor in his life, but that only adds to his working-class charm.

Michael Moore's new documentary "Sicko" launched in London, Ontario, Canada on Friday night.
He arrived fifteen minutes before show time. He lingered for interviews and fans outside "Masonville's Silver City", delaying the start time of the movie.

Well, I had written up a very thoughtful review and then accidentally clicked the wrong button and all was lost... Argh! ***SPOILERS***
Sicko was a very thought provoking film.

Though I'm sure many of you have seen this already, below is the letter Michael Moore wrote to Fred Thompson regarding Sicko. After that the letter is Fred Thompson's video response:
Given that it has been publicly reported in The Weekly Standard, a leading neo-conservative publication, that you support Fidel Castro and the Cuban regime by being a purveyor of fine Cuban exports despite the trade embargo, I was surprised to see your recent op ed in a more traditional conservative outlet, The National Review, regarding my trip to Cuba (I suspect you choose The National Review in an effort to pander to an outlet that had criticized you for your opposition to medical malpractice legislation).
[…]
Putting aside the fact that you, like the Bush Administration, seem far more concerned about the trip to Cuba than the health care of these 9/11 heroes, I was struck by the fact that your concerns (including comments about Castro's reported financial worth) apparently do not extend to your own conduct, as reported in The Weekly Standard's April 23, 2007 story, “From the Courthouse to the White House Fred Thompson auditions for the leading role.”
[…]
In light of your comments regarding Cuba and Castro, do you think the “box upon box of cigars – Montecristos from Havana” that you have in your office have contributed to Castro's reported wealth?

Both stories appeared in the pages of Britain's tabloid press. Neither is true.

A new culture war is brewing over capitalism
SEVENTEEN Uncle Sams were seen begging on the streets of Washington, DC, this week. They were a sad sight, with their slightly bedraggled red, white and blue hats and their cardboard signs with the hand-scrawled plea: “I want YOU to give me $12 trillion.” It was a publicity stunt, of course, staged by DefeatTheDebt.com, a fiscally hawkish pressure group. But it captured something important about the national mood.

The cavernous photography studio in New York City is bustling with fashion assistants, hair and makeup stylists, and models chatting in white terry robes. All typical on a photo shoot, but when the robes come off, you see what's different. Kate Dillon, Ashley Graham, Amy Lemons, Lizzie Miller, Crystal Renn, Jennie Runk and Anansa Sims -- some of the top plus-size models working today -- have beautiful curves, round shoulders, belly rolls and lots of other womanly stuff many of us see when we look in the mirror.

The Sorry State of Journalism
Lessons reporters need to learn from recent fiascos like the Van Jones coverage.

I’ve spent the last decade writing articles for daily newspapers, national magazines, and the web. But I never graduated from journalism school, a fact that haunted me for years.
