Diana once observed that she wanted to be thought of as a workhorse not a clotheshorse. Diana loved clothes; they were a passion and a public duty. As the Princess of Wales, her wardrobe requirements were complex; outfits were needed for her duties as a member of the Royal family, overseas trips, charity work and the many official functions and charity galas that required eveningwear.

Diana Frances Spencer, was born on July 1, 1961, at Park House near Sandringham, Norfolk. She was the youngest daughter of the then Viscount and Viscountess Althorp, now the late Earl Spencer and the Hon Mrs Shand-Kydd. She had two elder sisters, Jane and Sarah, and a younger brother, Charles. The root of Diana's insecurity lay in her upbringing, despite its privileges.

Princess Diana was called a "whore" by her mother – who didn't like the fact her daughter was dating a Muslim, according to testimony Monday.
The revelation came from the princess's former butler Paul Burrell, who gave evidence at the current inquest into Diana's August 1997 death. (Having reopened in October, the inquest is expected to last until March.)
Burrell – who has written two best-sellers on Diana – also told how his former employer planned a secret wedding with Pakistani heart surgeon Hasnat Khan, whom she dated until July 1997.

This was all over the UK press this morning: A witness testified before the high court that:
"The paparazzi formed a "compact group", which included several motorbikes, in an effort to take pictures of the princess and Dodi Fayed"
In other words the paparazzi was intentionally slowing down her vehicle to get better pictures.
Much of the British press has posted more gruesome rumours, reports of photographers yelling, "hurry up, she's dead" and other awfulness. I'd always assumed the crash happened because Diana's driver was speeding and distracted by other cars, not because anyone was *intentionally trying to block Diana's car.

Prince William and Prince Harry understand the concept of noblesse oblige. The royal brothers have set up a grant-giving foundation to help young people, wounded servicemen and women, and help sustainable development at home and abroad. William, 27, and Harry, 25, kicked-started it with some of the money they inherited from their mother, Princess Diana, who died in August 1997.

Rosie O’Donnell predicts Britney Spears may wind up just like Princess Diana.
"She will be trying to get away, but they will chase her, just as they chased her into that church yesterday," she blogged of the paparazzi harassing Spears (who is currently dating a paparazzo). "Even her last-minute, folded-hand prayers can’t be kept sacred.
