NYT: Obama aggressive on immigration
Despite vows, president relies heavily on predecessor’s policies on illegals

After early pledges by President Obama that he would moderate the Bush administration’s tough policy on immigration enforcement, his administration is pursuing an aggressive strategy for an illegal-immigration crackdown that relies significantly on programs started by his predecessor.
A recent blitz of measures has antagonized immigrant groups and many of Mr. Obama’s Hispanic supporters, who have opened a national campaign against them, including small street protests in New York and Los Angeles last week.

MN doctors find promising treatment for fatal skin disease
By STEVE KARNOWSKI
Published: Monday, June 02, 2008
Doctors at the University of Minnesota say they've found a promising treatment for a dreadful genetic skin disease that affects children and has always been fatal up to now.
The treatment - a transplant of stem cells obtained from his brother's bone marrow - has given new hope for Nate Liao, a 25-month-old from Clarksburg, N.J., and potentially other patients suffering from the same and similar diseases, the doctors said. Those young patients include another one of Nate's brothers.

Let Your mercy and loving-kindness come also to me, O Lord, even Your salvation according to Your promise.
Psalm 119:41
Some Christians want to make a law out of studying the Bible or spending a certain amount of time with God. But we should be motivated to read God's Word and spend time with Him because of a commandment to do so.

I didn't expect to get all choked up when I listened to this song, but damn if I'm not misty-eyed. (I should mention that Giggle and I went out for a drink and that may explain it.)
I really loved the Promise Ring back in the day. And by "back in the day" I mean high school.

God's Promise on Charity
Blessed is he who has regard for the weak;
the Lord delivers him in times of trouble.
The Lord will protect him and preserve his life;
he will bless him in the land
and not surrender him to the desire of his foes.
Psalm 41:1-2

Little children, you are of God [you belong to HIm] and have [already] defeated and overcome them [the agents of the antichrist], because He Who lives in you is greater (mightier) than he who is in the world.
1 John 4:4
Know who you are in Christ and understand that through salvation, you are seen in the spiritual world as wearing a garment of salvation and covered with a robe of righteousness (see Isaiah 61:10). God is on your side, and He is under you, over you, around you, with you, for you, and in you.

On a balmy autumn day in Vancouver, Canada, a young man is longing for a walk outside in the sunshine, and deciding against it.
Far easier for him to stay in his hotel room, cocooned in five-star luxury, with a cellphone that has run out of charge, safe at least from the girls chanting his name outside.
Robert Pattinson, 23, from Barnes in southwest London, ought still to be one of Hollywood’s beautiful dreamers, moving up the ranks of movie acting, enjoying his American adventure, his guitar, his good looks.

As the New Moon breaks records, attention should be brought to a trailer with a release date in March of 2010. No, not Eclipse, but rather Remember Me, a film which could legitimize Robert Pattinson as an actor and not just a Teen Beat cover boy.
Remember Me is filled with an amazing cast: the impeccable, Academy Award winner Chris Cooper, Pierce Brosnan and Lena Olin.

Thanksgiving is a busy day in every household and coming up with ways to entertain the children can require more energy than a cooking mama or papa has on reserve. Planning a simple arts and crafts project and setting up a table for scribbling, decorating and family bonding time will keep the tots occupied while the grown-ups cook, watch football, sip a glass of vino and prepare the big meal. Check out some of our favorite projects for a little artistic inspiration.
