LOS ANGELES - A federal judge on Thursday tentatively threw out the convictions of a Missouri mother for her role in a MySpace hoax directed at a 13-year-old neighbor girl who ended up committing suicide.
U.S. District Judge George Wu said he was tentatively acquitting Lori Drew of misdemeanor counts of accessing computers without authorization and that the ruling will become final when he issues it in writing.

Socialized Medicine on Display

Latest news in the exciting saga of Britain's socialized medicine is that a nurse, Margaret Haywood, aged 58, has been struck off for the crime of exposing neglect and mistreatment of elderly patients at the Royal Sussex Hospital on a television program. It was found that because of this: "It would not be in the public interest for her to be able to practise as a nurse."

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship participant Justin Levens, 28, and his wife Sarah McLean-Levens, 25, were found shot to death in their Laguna Niguel, Calif., home early Thursday.
According to news reports, law enforcement officials have preliminarily determined the case to be a murder-suicide.
Levens was also a member of the International Fight League and World Extreme Cagefighting organizations.

They are among a gaggle of previously unknown actors who've cleaned up at movie houses in 2007, strong indication that Hollywood is nudging toward a post star-driven reality in which special effects, high concepts, balanced acting ensembles and strong marketing matter more than familiar faces.
