“Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane is now a very wealthy man

Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane has inked a new agreement with 20th Century Fox TV after 2 1/2 years of negotiations. It was well worth the wait though, as the overall deal make him the highest-paid writer-producer working in television.

Yahoo reports that the package would be worth more than $100 million and would keep MacFarlane at 20th TV through 2012.

It covers his services on “Family Guy” and his other two animated series for 20th Century TV and Fox - “American Dad!” and the upcoming spinoff “The Cleveland Show” - as well as his series development, which includes a multi-camera comedy with “Family Guy” writer Gary Janetti. It also encompasses new-media projects related to MacFarlane’s TV. Family Guy alone has grown into a $1 billion franchise with red-hot DVD and merchandise sales.

Gary Newman, 20th TV chairman said, “It’s a relief to have it done. Today marks the first time in a long time Howard Kurtzman and Neal Baseman (20th TV top business affairs execs) did not have their shoulders up to their ears with anxiety.”

MacFarlane said of the new agreement and his work:

“I’m lucky to be at a place that creatively had been nothing less than 100% supportive. I get a lot of pleasure out of making shows. It’s a bonus to be getting paid well for it, and it’s a double bonus to be getting paid exorbitantly for it.

Eliza Dushku has found love with Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, according to reports. The pair has been dating in secret for weeks after hooking up in Los Angeles.

A friend tells OK! Magazine, “They met through mutual friends. They’re enjoying each other’s company so far. He makes her laugh a lot and she really enjoys good laughs and good conversation.”

"Family" feud afoot for Fox cartoon

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Fox is producing fresh episodes of its animated comedy "Family Guy" without the participation of its striking creator Seth MacFarlane, who does many of the main voices, sources said.

The last episode completed before the Writers Guild of America strike began November 5 aired Sunday. Fox and sibling studio 20th Century Fox TV had the choice of going into reruns or continuing the show without MacFarlane, whose outspoken defiance of his employers has made him a cause celebre for striking writers.

After a large writers rally outside the Fox lot on Friday, where he was one of the speakers, MacFarlane said the studio could proceed without him, though he hoped it would not.

20th TV had no comment on the matter Tuesday but confirmed that it remains in production on new episodes. The first episode finished without MacFarlane's blessing has been delivered to Fox. Sources said it is one of three very close to completion, with others in various stages of production.

In addition to executive-producing the show, MacFarlane voices the characters of Peter, Brian and Stewis Griffin, the male members of the hapless Rhode Island family at the core of the domestic satire.

Eliza Dushku & Brent Bolthouse: New Couple!

Dollhouse actress Eliza Dushku is dating L.A. party promoter Brent Bolthouse, aka The Hills star Heidi Montag’s boss.
According to a JustJared.com spywitness, the couple was spotted grabbing dinner together at a local diner in Eliza’s hometown of Watertown, Mass. Her parents watched on as the coupled canoodled. Brent was even seen taking photos of Eliza!

“They were very cute,” the insider gushes.

And according to Page Six, Eliza, 28, and Brent, 39, made a public appearance last week with Eliza’s family and friends in the VIP section at the Estate club in Boston.
Earlier this month, the couple was also spotted making out on the set of her new show, Dollhouse, which is set to premiere February 13, 2009 on FOX.

Oprah Winfrey earns a whopping $385 million a year.

Simon Cowell banks $50 million.

David Letterman? $32 million!

They're among the stars who appear in TV Guide's annual star salary survey, based on information from TV industry insiders and published sources.

Who else brings in the big bucks?

According to the magazine, newlywed Charlie Sheen is the highest-paid comedy star on primetime television, with $825,000 per episode.

CSI's William Peterson - who is leaving the show this upcoming season - is the highest-paid actor in a prime-time drama, earning $600,000 per episode.

With $400,000 an episode, Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay is the highest-paid actress in a drama. Kyra Sedgwick takes home $275,000 per episode of TNT's The Closer, making her top- earning actress on a cable network drama.

Some stars make serious money without appearing on TV at all.

Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, who supplies the voice of lead character Peter Griffin, just signed a deal with Fox that will net him $100 million through 2012.

And The Simpsons cast - Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith and Hank Azaria - each earn $400,000 per episode.

'Family Guy' Star Wars Episode Available on DVD Next Year

“Early next year, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is releasing Family Guy Presents: Blue Harvest on DVD. The special episode, which kicked off Family Guy's sixth season in September, parodies Episode IV A New Hope, the first film of the popular Star Wars series created by George Lucas.

Blue Harvest has the Family Guy's hilarious characters assuming well-known and beloved personas from the sci-fi film. Griffin patriarch Peter plays Han Solo, while wife Lois appears as the sexy Princess Leia. Chris is the adolescent Luke Skywalker, and Brian, the talking family dog, is a well-spoken version of Chewbacca. Taking over the role of the villainous Sith Lord Darth Vader is Stewie, while protocol droid C-3PO is played by Quagmire.

The title of the episode is derived from the code name when filming for the sequel Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi was ongoing.

The special episode also features hilarious cameos from such celebrities as Rush Limbaugh, Chevy Chase, Beverly D'Angelo and Helen Reddy.

Along with the episode, the standard edition of the DVD contains four minutes of never-before-seen material, animatics and commentaries, interviews with Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane and Lucas, an uncensored track, and a teaser of the series' next Star Wars parody, Something, Something, Something Dark Side.

Meanwhile, the special edition of the DVD includes the standard release, plus collectible packaging, 3-D Fight Scene, 3-D Glasses, a t-shirt, trading cards and an exclusive brochure.

The Blue Harvest DVD will be available in North America on January 15, while international releases will kick off on January 22. The standard edition has been priced at $22.98, while the special edition retails for $34.99. Languages available in subtitles are English, Spanish and French.

FOX is supporting the release of the DVD through a multi-media campaign that aims to attract attention of the show's target audience and the key male demographic. The network is also airing promos alongside new episodes of Family Guy on both network and cable television”.
