Abandoned Under Obama
By Heather Robinson on 11.10.09 @ 6:09AM
Earlier this month, Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury, a self-described "Muslim Zionist," traveled to the U.S. to address audiences in New York City and at Yale University. Publisher of the largest English-language weekly newspaper in Bangladesh, Choudhury has been jailed, beaten, nearly blinded, and is now on trial for his life for his reporting, and for his pro-American, pro-Israeli views.

My apologies for having nothing originally in this post. The text was here but didn't show up.
Apparently this article is too long to be printed here, at about 11 pages. It is nevertheless worth reading, unless, as someone has already done, you have made your mind up what to believe before reading.

So I finally decided to unpack my boxes of books and organize them on the new bookshelf today and while doing so, I came across this gem of a book, buried in the midst, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.
It immediately brought me back to July 2000 right before my freshman year of college was to start and 3 months after being moved to the states in the sweltering S. Carolina heat.

I found this article at http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/books/booknews/6194031/The-Lost-Symbol-and-The-Da-Vinci-Code-author-Dan-Browns-20-worst-sentences.html. Pretty funny for grammar nerds like me. Enjoy!

In honor of Reading Is Sexy's grand opening, I'm going to start off with the series that's has been holding me in a chockhold for going on 10 years now.
Nora Roberts, writing as JD Robb in her not so far distant future has captured my attention since my very good friend lend me a copy of the 1st of the series, Naked In Death. That copy started me on my 10 year journey of hunting and gathering mission to find and read every one of the books in the series.

I could not put down this 400 page book and finished it in less than a week. It is really quite enjoyable.
Barnes & Noble review:
Eight years ago, presidential aide Wes Holloway survived the attack of a crazed assassin that killed the chief executive's oldest friend, Ron Boyle.

Laura Dekker, 13, wants to become youngest person to sail solo around globe
(CNN) -- A Dutch Court will decide the fate Friday of 13-year-old Laura Dekker, either making her a potential world-record-breaking sailor, or returning her to school.
Welfare services in the Netherlands have taken legal action to try to stop the teen from attempting to become the youngest person to sail solo around the world because they believe the voyage will be too dangerous.
The Dutch Council for Child Protection has applied to the District Court in the city of Utrecht for Dekker to be made a ward of court so that her parents, who support her plans, temporarily lose the right to make decisions about her.

The New York Times

AS political theater, the Sonia Sotomayor hearings tanked faster than the 2008 Fred Thompson presidential campaign. They boasted no drama to rival the Clarence-Anita slapdown, the Bork hissy fits or the tearful exodus of Samuel Alito’s wife. There was rarely a moment to match even the high point of the Senate’s previous grilling of Sotomayor — in 1997, when she was elevated to the Second Circuit.
